1970 Block (383) vin# sequence on block?
Guys,
Just picked up a 1970 RR - 383, completely disaasembled. I got two engines, one is orange and stamped
E383 -E=1969
9 12 69 Build date
HP (High Perf) ............
Found that this is a 69 High Performance 383, and also got a block
F383
3 2 70 This motor was blue, and both have the high capacity oil pan. Chiltons states the "N" in my car VIN# which is RM23N0A209006, designates my 383 1970 is also a high performance 383. When I put this car back together I would like to use my 70 block, but the 69 block is clearly stamped HP.
Where else or is there any other location to match my VIN with my engine, I have looked all over my block for any other
stamps, and have found none. The previous owner said his 70 block /engine was the hi-po engine as well. Not that 5 horse and camshaft differences make a motor, but did plymouth tie the block to the car with any other stamps?
I do not have a build sheet, and the fender tag was removed when the fenders were replaced years ago, I am in process of trying to get these documents through a concourse build guy on the net, that verify's big buck investment cars, as this is not! Since I am building the motor from scratch, I just wanted to verify the 70 motor did come with the car originally! A chevy motor guy just left the house and was curious why we couldn't match block to vin somehow! Any thoughts!
