240k Gearbox
I have a 240k box in my 1600.

Are they any good?

Why did people fit these boxes to L series?

Do they have good ratio's or something?

Re: 240k Gearbox
Hi 347,

The 240k box doesn't have the best standard ratios of the nissan L series family (the 260Z does) however the 240k synchro
mechanism is more robust and cheaper to service.

It is possible to put 260Z gearing into the 240k box.

Generally the 240k box is a little cheaper to purchase as well.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Re: 240k Gearbox
K and Z boxes also have marginally bigger internals than some of the other boxes (such as the Stanza "Dogleg" 5 speed), making them slightly more reliable.

As Drew pointed out, ratios are - unfortunately - just your average Datsun ratio's.
