4 speed trans code ??
in '69 the code D21 is present and my car is a 4speed,but did the 18 spline have the same code as the 23 spline? how do you know if the car came with a special order 18 spline,my car came w/A31 axle pkg.3.91 S.G. as well, also were the hurst shifters the bolt in style handle or was the slip in style avail yet? i know the 69.5 and 70's had the slip in style pistol grips.

4 speed trans. code ??
Back in the day you could buy a MOPAR with almost anything you wanted! But, I'm pretty sure only 383's came with the 23 spline 4 speeds! 4 speed RRunners provisioned with a 440 + 6's or 426's came with 18 spline!
That's why the 18's are usually called (Hemi 4 Speeds).
I don't think I answered your question but, if the cars a 383 it shouldn't be a 18 spline!

Re: 4 speed trans. code ??
hi Mr Moparnut is right about the 23 spline tranny in the 383 roadrunner with 391, 355, or 323 gears in a 8-3/4 rear-end. 1969-1/2 440-6 4-speed roadrunner comes with an 18 spline tranny because it has a 410 Dana rear-end. A '69 Hemi 4-speed roadrunner has a 18 spline tranny too. A 354 is standard and a 410 Dana is an option.

From 1969 to 1972 factory 440 4-speed cars come with 18 spline tranny's and 354 Dana's, 410 Dana's as an option. Six pak or Hemi cars are the same.
