A048R's are a goer......
As our latest club magazine states, Yokohama have signed another 3 year deal with the IPRA meaning that both A032R's and A048R's are both okay to use for 2006....

I'll be running my 32's to start the season...spent too much in the offseason to warrant discarding tyres which are just one meeting old.

Does this mean that if a AO32R is not available in the size required then we are allowed to use a AO48R even if it is a 50 series profile?

At this point in time, all early model cars must run a 60 series tyre. Wether that be an 032 or an 048 is up to you. If the tyre size you are after is not available in either, you will need to look at a diffrent size, but still in the 60 series.

I know of a Proddie that did back to back, and A048's were a bit faster, and for longer... however, do not know about any IP cars

Re: AO48R's are a goer
We ran some on an RX7 yesterday. Bit hard to compare tho as it was the cars first outing and the driver had only been on A032Rs before in a swift. But his comment was they felt better and didn't seem to wander as much.
I think the conclusive test is still yet to be done. I'll be using my A032Rs until they're dead and then I'll try the 48s.

hi
we did back to back testing on the BSM skyline combined touring car last year, They are stiffer in the sidewalls, that suits the heavy cars and prob the FWD guys to. we were .5 sec per lap faster, and they took a lot longer to go off. We did a 1 hour race at oran park gp on them and they looked brand new at the end.
a good move i say
cheers dave

Yeah, that sounds fair. Go to a narrower tyre and go slower or spend big money changing diff ratios and wheel sizes. Go figure.

But wouldn't that be with low-profile tyres (ie 50 or less) though Dave?

Ordered ours in 60 series today, forgot to ask how much they were going to be though

I have 2 sizes, both up about $30
OK clubs do get more per tyre (double), and the nationals package is more... but one plus one doesn't equal five. If they are faster and last longer we will all be happy though, I guess
