About this group
There are unlimited numbers of critique groups on the internet, some of them very good. Some require a fee for membership, others don't. Many promise constructive crits and deliver either:
- extremely harsh, destructive crits, or
- lovey, mushy crits that don't do anything but stroke a writer's ego.
While it's nice to have the ego stroked once in a while, it's not very constructive, and does nothing to help a writer grow. Destructive crits are just as useless.
What we hope to achieve here is to create a place that serious romance writers can get thorough, detailed, constructive critiques: critiques that are honest, tough, but respectful.
It's a tough balance.
The main focus of this site is critiques, but we will help each other with everything from brainstorming and research, to writing a synopsis and finding publishers. In our Chit-Chat forum, we will be able to get to know each other on a more social level.
Every writer who joins this site will have something in common: we all want to produce manuscripts that have an excellent chance for publication.
We will remain a small group, selective in our membership base, in order to exchange constructive and honest critiques.
Active participation is a requirement.
If you are serious about your writing; if you are seriously pursuing publication and want to be involved in a group that will push you to your limits as a writer; if you are willing and able to commit the time necessary to give thorough, constructive critiques, then you've come to the right place.
