Activity next to David's in Bay City
Today I saw a large truck backed up to the entrance to the old Weiner's next to David's in Bay City. It was being unloaded into that store.
Anyone know what's going on there? Is it an expansion of David's or something else?

My dad talked to someone that was applying for a job there and they said it was going to be a Dollar Tree. I know there's one in the Lake Jackson mall and everything there truely is a dollar or less.

That's right. Finally - a new business in Bay City that isn't auto parts or a car wash! Dollar Tree is great fun. All kinds of good junk and nothing in the store is over a dollar. I predict a booming business in our economically disadvantaged little town. And I'll bet David's is thrilled that Dollar Tree customers parked out front will be stepping in for milk and bread.

So, was I right or what? The parking lot was full at today's grand opening and the store was packed with people. This is the biggest Dollar Tree I've ever seen and was well stocked with all kinds of fun stuff. I spent most of my time keeping track of the kids and helping them choose some goodies. Can't wait to go back alone and browse.

I checked it out yesterday also. I went in with my daughter. She bought 8 things for $8.58. Cool. She got 4 real cute pictures frames. Some $1.99 Tostitos for $1.00 & some other stuff. I saw Little Debbie snack cakes prepriced at $1.29 for $1.00. It's neat knowing whatever you get there will be just a dollar unless of course you get 2 for $1 or 3 for $1, etc. It was pretty crowded when we were there so it was kind of hot but I'm sure when the crowd slows the a/c will be able to keep up. I noticed the parking lot was full again today. I hope they have much success.
