"I don't believe this. I don't
believe this!" Dinewan grumbled. "How could this have happened? After all your grandmother told you! After all
I told you! Were you paying attention at
all?"
Kangkang Akind stomped through the knee-high grass, listening to her spirit ally complain. It was early morning and the sunlight was barely skimming the tops of the trees of Funbari Park. The affect of the beautiful morning was completely lost on Dinewan, who had been sulking all the way from the airport inside her shell necklace.
"You
lost your passport! How are we going to get home? How are we going to do
anything? Why could't you--"
"Oh, stop it," Kangkang snapped. "
You were the one who panicked when the security guards searched us."
"I thought they were hexing us! Can you blame me?" Dinewan growled. Suddenly his voice changed. "Down! Get down, quick!"
Kangkang ducked behind a bush, scraping her knees on the ground. "What? What's going on?"
"There's someone over there," Dinewan whispered. "Another shaman."
