Almond - Apple Crunch 1 ¼ c. all-purpose flour 1 ½ c. granulated sugar ¾ c. soft butter ½ c. almond paste soft, fine bread crumbs 6 tart apples, thin-slice * juice of 1 lemon pinch of salt ½ t. ground cinnamon pinch of ground cloves pinch of freshly grated nutmeg Combine flour, 1 c. sugar, butter, almond paste in bowl. Chill for 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 9x13 baking dish and coat with bread crumbs. In large bowl, mix apples, the remaining ½ c. sugar, lemon juice, salt and spices. Place apple mixture in baking dish, then crumble almond paste mixture over apples. Bake 45 min. or until top is golden brown. * do last minute, unpeeled in Cuisinart slices quartered, then in lemon spice “juice” and into pan. I promised Hannah that I would post this recipe eventually. It is really delicious! My family does not normally usually use sugar, so we experimented to make a sugar-free version of this recipe, but since I don't have a recipe for it I thought that I would just post the original recipe for everyone to try however they might like it. |
