Antifouling
I am considering putting one of the Copper/resin antifoul systems on the hull of Good Nick. Has anyone any experience of using any of the dozen or more copper or copper/nickel powder and paint systems? Do they work and are they long
lasting?

Re: Antifouling
Tony...I did two coats of International Paints- Micron CSC, (an ablating material-about 5 liters worth),in the spring of 2001,and at the end of this summer season ( Aug 18, 2005),after 5 successive summers-with the boat stored out of the water during the winter,it now appears to have worn off..(after a very agressive pressure water cleaning by yours truly)...at no time has growth been anywhere near excessive and there has been no peeling loss of the material. Am planning on 5 more liters of the Micron CSC (now with 'Biolux') going on in the spring with little or no preparation, as the hull is so clean at the moment.Last season was spent mostly in the brackish water of the Baltic and in Holland, and this year the boat was in fresh water in France for a couple of months- which may well be taken into account -but I'm a believer for now. Cheers Bill.

Re: Antifouling
Thanks Bill.
I am having anti-osmosis treatment carried out to Good Nick and I am in the process of deciding what to put on by way of effective antifouling. The time is obviously right to put on something permanent when the hull is bone dry, smooth, barrier coated and ready, as it will be in a few more weeks.
If I put on Coppercoat, I can keep the boat in the water over the winter, as I usually do, keep sailing, dry her out in the slipway at Carrickfergus harbour, check anodes, seacocks etc, a quick wash of the hull and away again, with no need to lift her out, strip off old paint etc. If that last 10 or 15 years, as it has for a Rustler 36 that I know, I would be well pleased. I do not want the problems some have had with poor adhesion, failure to prevent fouling etc.
