Are you wearing a costume?
Bob, being urged by his mother to wake up, gets out of his bed and gets dressed. He walks into the family room, watches "South Park" while eating breakfast. His mom yells at him to turn it back, and he snaps back and storms off into the bathroom to get his teeth brushed and to gel his hair. He's late for school (by being chewed out by his mom because he called her a derogatory name) and gets to school. There, he cusses, makes rude remarks, gets in fights, and makes low grades. When he gets home, he goes out to meet his friends, where they cuss, smoke pot, and swap each other Playboy magazines. When he gets home, he hides everything he got from his "friends" under his mattress, puts on good clothes, and goes to Youth Group, and sings about how much he "loves" Jesus.
Many so-called "Christians" do this. I'm not saying that whatever you do is as bad as Bob (which is not a real person, just an example) but they do horrible things, but every Sunday morning or Wendesday night, sing how much they love Jesus. They are putting on a Christian costume, being something they really aren't. And, we all put on costumes sometimes, but we should all try our hardest to stop, to remind ourselves "Would Jesus like what' I'm doing if he was sitting next to me" and remind ourselves that: GUESS WHAT-HE IS

Sorry, i'm in a mood to preach tonight.

wow
i am really impressed.i agree with that though.i have known quite a few people who do that.they cheat other people of their money, tell horrible lies , do backstabbing and they keep praying to god for more than one hour to try to wash off their sins. i hope they are not let off though.it is really disgusting.

Re: wow
I think we all do that. Its just a matter of how much we do in our "outside of church" life.

Re: wow
First of all, everyone's let off if they're sincere in being sorry and make an effort to reform.

Hopefully, simply by continuing to pray and talk to God at least a little these people will realize they need to reform, and then God can help them do it.

The story describes someone with an only marginally worse than average case of sin (imo).

The only thing is that such people don't match those criteria. :( From the looks of it, most of them are just using religion as a crutch so that they can feel good about themselves.

well....
a person swindling money from others prays to god many times in a day for long hrs .he feels it will wash off his sins .but he keeps repeating his actions with no remorse.that's wrong.he shouldn't be let off then.

Re: well....
I agree with that! I'm saying that hopefully by praying at all he will eventually realize that he ought to be remorse.

Re: well....
If you truly accept Jesus as your Savior, the Holy Spirit will work in you to allow you to see what is right and what is wrong so that you do have remorse for the bad things you have done. You may not stop right away, but that doesn't mean you aren't saved. Sometimes it just takes a little longer for the Holy Spirit to change you.

In the situation that story represents, I don't believe the kid had accepted Christ as his Savior. Instead, I think he just said the words. That won't save you. To be saved, you have to accept Christ, not just pretend that you do.

Well said M'Rhan, just like it says in the book of James, faith without works is D E A D.

the light of it is screaming,
"Turn from your sin, and follow the ONE
who can save you."
Burning all the way.

I personally am living as well as I can, but I slip. I'm sorry for it, and I ask God for forgiveness. Through that I am redeemed.

I'm wearing a costumr, but just over my privies. :p
no seriously, all the major issues are covered up and now that I think of it, I rarely bring them up, either to myself or God.
