This is a great book! Has anyone else ever read "Aunt Jane's Hero"? It is written by Elizabeth Prentiss. The same lady who wrote Stepping Heavenwerd. This story is about what a Christ-centered home can be like. I really enjoy Elizabeth Prentiss's writings, because she takes you into the personal lives of each character. She let's you read their failures, their short-comings, their strivings, and their victories! Your really get to know the people in the stories! ~*~Shannon~*~ |

Hi Shannon! My mom & I have both read 'Aunt Jane's Hero' a couple of times. Elizabeth Prentiss is one of our favorite writers.
In 'Aunt Jane's Hero',Mrs Prentiss draws an excellent 'Portrait of a Christ-centered home'.My favourite character is Aunt Jane;she was certainly a 'Titus 2 woman'.I also liked Mrs Prentiss' original introduction. Speaking of Mrs Prentiss....have you ever read any of her other books? There is one called 'The Little Preacher',which is about a German family;and,of course,'Stepping Heavenward'. I don't know if there are any others in print.Do you know of any? In Christ, Emma |

Hi Emma! On Amazon.com They have two more of her books that I had never heard of! One is called "Little Susy Stories". It sounds like a book for ages 8-12? The other one is called "Urbane and His Friend". It didn't say anything about that book. The only thing is that they are both currently not available on Amazon.com. I checked a old and used book web site called abebooks.com, and they had one used copy of "Urbane and His Friend" selling for $75 dollars!!! Otherwise I have never seen those two books for sale anywhere else. There is a book out about Elizabeth Prentiss called "More Love To Thee", Or "The Life and Letters of Elizabeth Prentiss". I have never read this but is sounds good! Another one I found by her is called "Golden Hours: Heart-Hymns of the Christian life". It is described as "A wonderful book of spiritual hymns and poems!". Other then that I haven't been able to find any other books written by her. I will keep looking though! ~*~Shannon~*~ |

Hi (Emma) Emily, Elizabeth Prentiss is an excellent writer! I've found two other books by her that haven't been mentioned yet. There is The Home At Greylock and The Flower of the Family. We really enjoyed The Little Preacher! More Love to Thee: The Life and Letters of Elizabeth Prentiss is no longer in print. You might be able to find this at a used book store online, but I think they are becoming very rare now. We sell Golden Hours in our online Mercantile. We also offer Elizabeth Prentiss' father's book Legacy of a Legend. These are both excellent! Golden Hours features a lot of Elizabeth Prentiss' poetry, simply beautiful. She offers a lot to ponder upon. Mr. Payson's book (Elizabeth's father) covers many subjects, which touch the hearts of men and women today. He really offers "deep" writing! Simply excellent! If you'd like to see these books please visit our bookstore by clicking here. Elizabeth's books are under the Ladies section and Mr. Payson's book is under the Gentlemen's section, even though his writing is for both ladies and men. I hope this helps you! May the Lord Bless you with a wonderful day! It's snowing here! In Jesus, Emilee Elizabeth Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4 |

Hi! I found a couple copies of "The Life and Letters of Elizabeth Prentiss" for sale at abebooks.com. They range from $65 (In great condition) to $15 (in bad condition). If you bought one somewhere in between those ranges I think you would be safest (otherwise the book might fall apart in your hands!). Emilee- Do you know where we could find copies of the books that you mentioned? Her other books were such a blessing to me! I would love to read more! ~*~Shannon~*~ It's snowing here in GA too!!!My guess is say.....1 inch for us? No mabe half of an inch. Ya, that's more like it. Oh well, I guess you can still call it snow. Can't you?!?!
