Batman Begins
Completely Awesome.
I never really read the comics so my knowledge of Batman traditionally comes from the 90's cartoon. Scarecrow is pretty true to form and looks loads better with the mask on than he does without. The fear gas effects were handled quite well I thought. The whole thing is shot brilliantly, Nolan does great work here.Whatever CG there is(i suspect the bat swarms and probably some of Scarecrow's fear effects) blends in quite nicely. Nothing overstated that screams CG effect. Ras al Ghul was handled quite well I thought, not the demented immortality seeking bastard we all know and love but I think if he's in another we'll see that side. Everyone plays their parts extremely well. I think Bale as batman did a bit of over acting, partic in the first scene or two his mouth just seems exaggerated, maybe a side effect of doing that voice. Either way it seems better in later scenes.
Still dislike the batmobile tho, its an ugly piece of shit and just to use the weapons systems or the afterburner the controls shift forward. The way you see it in the movie the car basically folds him in half(in a sitting position and his torso moves downward) unless it moves him into some sort of lying position they dont show. Either way it's a stupid control system.
Cant wait for the next one.

A pleasing review. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it. One review praised the movie saying that it should make Chicago proud, as some of the movie was filmed on Lower Wacker and Lower Michigan.
I'd like to know what you think of this movie in relation to the first if you've seen it. I'd ask Bast but, well, you know.

Re: Batman Begins
I'd have to watch the first again as I havent seen in years, but i would rate this higher than the first even. I'd say Bale's as good a Batman as Keaton. I dunno, maybe drac will chime in later, she saw it last night.

Re: Batman Begins
I'm a little Meh about Bale's Batman voice - no one can beat Keatons - but overall, this was a goddamn good movie. I love Prof. Krane, and Alfred is like Mr. T, Arnold, and an incarnation of Jesus all wrapped up in one. You know he has a body count to his name.
Good fighting, passable dialogue (except from Katie Holms). I hated the car til I saw it in action. I could totally see the Chicago - I imagine all cities look vaguely the same, but since I have familiarity with it, Chicago just screams Chicago to me. Much comments were made throughout the film. I would and prolly will see it again.

several complaints about it myself, but overall, i liked it.
it was a good re-imagining of batman, but it wasnt absolutely true to the cannon.
