Bleeding Heart
The hand on her neck grew tighter, as well as those restraining her arms. Anoron was dragged downstairs, with about several other of her comrads. Tossed into cells, she hit the hard, cold cement floor hard; only adding to her other bruises.

Groaning, she sat up and stood wearily, making her way over to the small barred window. Looking outside, she their result. Mirkwood in a panic, Elves screaming, some dead, many wounded. Her men dead, many wounded, and the remainder like her in the cells. A small smile came to her lips. The rangers were in search of an Elf -- a dangerous one, at that. They knew he resided in Mirkwood, but the Lords and officials had declined any contact or questioning from 'men'.

So they took initiative. Now, paying the price. Probably hanging, or perhaps even poison or stabbing. Whatever it was, they would pay for trying to protect the peace. But Anoron knew this Elf was within the walls and city. She knew he was dangerous. If they didn't get to him, many in Mirkwood....perhaps even the king....would die.

While all this had happened; the raid, the fighting, the bloodshed -- the king and his son were placed in their great hall protectively. Only now that everything was calming down, were they allowed to survay the damage.

Re: Bleeding Heart
The fires dissolved and the smoked cleared. The castle left in ashes, save for one room. The king and his son, not to mention a few other servants and childern that stayed in the castle hid in the one room. Many were wounded from the falling debris, but otherwise fared better then others. Thranduil Stood and all within the one room emerged out into the central city.

Legolas, the son of Thranduil, looked around the mattered and bloodied streets. The site of it made him ga inwardly. Bodies of elves, both men and woman, cluttered the ways and paths. A terror engraved in their face even in death. Those alive informed the king of those caught.

As the moment pasted of staying in the last healer's wing, Legolas walked through wahat was left of the home he lived in. Half laid in ashes, and the second part completely gone, save for the room they had hid in. The elves had found clothes to wear, clean ones that is. Then, Legolas recalled what had happened...

'Fires! Foes! Men! Torches lit and arrows that burned with tips of flames soared through the air like a great eagle. Some targeting elves, others assailing buildings and lighting them with flames of dancing fires. A great host of rangers and men alike charged the city. Their armor gleamed in teh failing sunlight, and their weapons thick like the woods.

"My lord! We are under attack! You must hide!" A sentel cried, adn took the king, his son, and the few others into a room to hide. They huddled together close as things fell and shattered around them. The king and his son sheltering the children there, and the others protecting each other. Not one went unmarred. A war raged on around them. They had no where else to go..

Metal clanged loudly and the whistling of flying arrows were the only thing heard. Screams and cries merged with all the battles. Shrieks alike haunted the woods. Fires burning and lighting the woods as homes burned in search for one...'

Legolas sighed and walked down to the cells, where the remainder of those who aided in the siege on the city, Debris covered the streets and ground. As he approached the ceels, he narrowed his eyes with anger. "Why....." Were the only words that left his lips. A gash on his cheek, and his upper arm wrapped with a blood stain on it. A bruised side was covered by his tunic.

His steely gaze passed to the female ranger.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron's green eyes rose to meet those of the Elven prince. Her stare was just as cold. For your own good.... She replied deeply. It was. Had they not attacked, Mirkwood would now be grieving the loss of their king. They knew the elven assassin. They knew he still resided in Mirkwood.

The attack was merely a distraction. No one was really supposed to get killed -- they just needed time to find the Elf. But it seems that their time has run out. There was no sense in telling these Elves what she knew. They would not believe her.

Now go and stay with your father.... Anoron said, before turning her back to the Prince. They'll need you.

This was what she hated. Saving the life of a king, and all they get is slack. Thrown into the cells.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Legolas stepped closer and gripped the irons bars on the cell. "Not until you tell me why you attcked out city, and kill many of them. Tell me now." His icy gaze gazed intently on her. He did not know who she was, but he would get all information he could from any of them. His hands gripped the bard so tight that his knuckles turned pale.

"Tell me what you know....and who are you?" His tone was apathetic and cold. "My father does not have to know of our meeting...but I want to know why."

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron tilted her head slightly towards the voice of the persistant Prince of Mirkwood. Slowly, she stood and walked back over to the bars and stood in front of him. You wish to know why?....Is that so? She replied in a rather sarcastic tone. All these years, we've been trying to warn you. Sending letters that never arrive. Sending messangers who never come back. And now, you want to know why.

She made a small scoff. You elves got yourself into this mess. And now you can get yourself out. We're sick of trying. We rangers just wanted to help, and you all spit in our faces.

Anoron hit the bars angrily, before turning back in her cell and beginning to pace. My name, you ask?....Anoron. Though it shall soon be forgotten.

Re: Bleeding Heart
"What? Messengers? My father never told me of such..." He whispered in disbelief of his own father. Was he hiding something from them? "You say you are rangers? I know them well. I traveled with them at one time through Middle Earth...Anoron." His curiousity was getting the better of him right now.

"Anoron...what were you trying to warn us about? If you trell me, perhaps this canbe sorted out. Right now you stand in the doorway of death, and I can save you. What was going to happen to Mirkwood?" His tone lightened somewhat.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron sat down on the cold cement floor, glancing at the Prince, before looking ahead again and resting her arms on her knees which were bent up. Nothing was going to happen to Mirkwood. Nothing physical, anyway. But the grief of loss you would deal with.....would no doubt be almost unbareable.

Her eyes drifted to the Prince once more, and a small smile came to her lips. What is it about you elves, princeling? She asked. So high and mighty -- not wanting to accept help from others. Especially lowly rangers, like myself.

Turning back ahead, she picked up a small rock and chucked it. The small stone hit the wall and bounced a little before coming to a stop again. I suppose you'll all have to wait and find out which bastard it is. He'll be killed eventually, when you find out. But it'll be too late.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Legolas frowned slightly. "I don't have a problem with them...but I am not the king, nor will my father rihtfully listen to me all the time. Anoron.." He said crouching down to her level and leaning against the bars--staring intently at her. "Tell me please who wants to kill my father? You hold information..and I wnat help from you. Will you not help me at least? I am not so much like my father."

Which was true in son many departments. He was kinder then his father. Legolas was more adventurous them him as well. Legolas took more after his mother. Though he looked like his father. "Anoron...please. Tell me who is out to kill my father? If you were in my position...would you try to do all to save the one you were raised with?"Slight annoyance was in his vioce, but he was not harsh. Nay, he was calmer and less as angry. Anger would do no good here, even moreso when she held information on a possible assassination of his father.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron looked to the Prince. Now he was desperate. Now they wanted help. Sighing, her stupid moral obligations began to cry out to her.

His name is Mordecai. She said, looking the ground. An Elf that resides in Mirkwood. He and some others have plans to assassinate your father -- blame you for the murder -- and begin to govern this wood themselves. They are sons of the Lords here. Though, without evidence, you cannot convict them.

She sighed once more, and stood, beginning to pace around her cell. They have a council, but we don't know where. Part of our raid on your city.....was in hopes of finding their hideaway. There, you would find evidence. But without knowing where it is -- there is nothing you can do.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Legolas frowned and thought a momrnt, before continuing. "Anoron....if I get you out of here...would you help me in finding this council and this...Mordecai?" Legolas wanted to stop them, but he could not do it alone, and others would most likely not listen to him. Legolas fworned slightly and watched her with keen eyes.

"I can get you and the few men that remain with you out...only if you will help me find these elves. If we find them, then I shall set you free...and hold you in the hiighs pact of us. But please...I don't want to loose my father. He is all I have here now...and it would be hard to bear...though for some it wouldn't..." Legolas looked down and sighed. The prince stood up and looked out the window. The smoke still rose, and it was chaotic still no doubt.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron sighed. She looked to Legolas. She knew if she were in the same situation, she wouldn't want to loose her father. But then again, her father was a bastard. She hated him. So she could not really relate -- but in the prince's eyes, she could see his devotion and concern.

I shall help you find it. She told him, moving closer to the bars. Since I have your word on freedom.

Well we ain't goin! One man gruffed out. It was another ranger. Them Elves need to learn themselves. We tried. I dun know why ye keep tryin'.

Anoron glared at him. I do not ask you to follow. Stay here and rot for all I care. I told you....no killing.

And I told you, I don't be likin' Elves. He growled back.

She had told them, planned, no killing the Elves. But they didn't listen. She didn't even like these rangers very much. Anoron worked better on her own.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Legolas frowned at them and gave the men a glare. "No doubt you enjoyed killing innocent women and children." He retorted ot the man bitterly. Looking around he saw no men or guards coming now. Walking over to the desk he searched. The keys had to be there. Somewhere.

Yes! He found them. grabbing them and walking back over to teh cell, he unlocked it slowly and opened the door. It creaked and squeaked. Legolas offered her a hand and helped her out. With a last glace to the men he said, "You can suffer the true fate then, if you will not help."

He closed the door and and locked it back. Legolas returned the keys to their original spot. Turning back to Anoron he took her hand. "I trust you are telling the truth. I don't want to see something happen that could have been pervented. We have to be quiet....or they'll throw us both back in." Slowly and stealthly he walked down the paths through the cellars until he came to the opening. Cheking to see if anyone was there, he walkd out and helped her out as well.

"We have to make a dash for it...follow me." And he spritied off.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron followed the nible elf as he made way to the thick forests which lay behind the cells. It was only slightly difficult to keep up, since he wore the earthy tones of Mirkwood attire, which abled him to blend into his surroundings. But still, elves were naturally quicker than humans.

As they ran quickly through the brush and vine, he stopped suddenly. Anoron near ran into him, but managed to come to a halt in time. She watched him as he crept towards a cement fixture. Some shop, no doubt.

Pushing through the last of the brush, they reached a small wooden door. Legolas pushed on it, but to no avail did it open. Sighing, she brushed the Elf out of the way, and pulled a tiny dagger from her boot; smaller then the average one.

Moving to the lock, she picked it expertly, and the door opened with a low moaning creak. The two slipped in. Most shops were now closed because of the chaos, but the armory, was untoched and empty.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Legolas looked at her slightly amazed. Of couse he did not have a dagger on hand with him. It was buried among the rubbles in the castle. As they entered he looked around. Weapons. Lots. Walking around he picked up a quiver and filled it with the long and sharp arrows of Mirkwood. Next he took up a long bow and smiled at its handywork. Looking around again, Legolas searched for...

Ah! A pair or white handled long knives. They did not look exactly like his old ones, but they would do. The elf fastened that to the quiver and turned to her. "Gather what you need. We leave immediately."

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron gathered what she needed. A few more knives, another sword; beautifuly crafted and curved, and engraved nicely. She took a long bow, a quiver and arrows. That was pretty much it. Fastening everything to herself, she turned back to the Elf. With a nod, she headed for the back door once more.

Quietly the two slipped out again and back into the heavily forested area. No doubt the place is hidden within the wood. Mordecai isn't that stupid to put it within Mirkwood's city.

Re: Bleeding Heart
"One would think not....have you any clues wher he might be?" He asked her as he trailed behind her. Looking up to the sky the sun was fading and the sky turning dark. Legolas looked around them and peered into the woods. A hand he placed on her shoulder and stopped her briefly. "Watch where you step. Large spiders lurk here....it would be bad to step into a web of theirs."

And with that they carried on. The long bow in his hands.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron nodded and continued. This was not her first visit to Mirkwood, but still, the spiders were to be considered.

They continued to walk, hour after hour -- finding nothing. Anoron began to grow frustrated. Thinking like an elf was damn near impossible. But then again, she with one. Why not use the advantage. Your an Elf....where would you be?.... She asked back to him as her eyes continued to scan the area as they walked.

Re: Bleeding Heart
He arched a brow and thought. Wher would he be if he was going to assassinate the king? After some time he spoke. "I would use the dangers to an advantage. Perhaps they are near the spider's den. No one would bother or find them if they feared to enter there."

But there were so many spiders, he knew not which one would hold them...if it did at all.

Re: Bleeding Heart
Anoron tilted her head slightly. She never thought of that. Perhaps the Elves figured, the closer they were to danger, the further they were from harm; or being found.

We shall look.... She said. But for now, I think it best we take heed of shelter and rest. For fighting spiders in the dark is something I would rather avoid if possible. We'll continue the search in the morning.

After walking a little ways, she stopped and looked around her. It seemed like as good a place as any. A small stream ran by, and there was a small divet of land in which they could sleep and be unseen.

Legolas walked to the stream and set his bow beside him long enough to get a drink. Once that he stood and looked arounf. "I'll take watch. Rest while you can, it my be a while before you you Lady Anoron have a chance to rest again." And leaning on his longbow he watched the ways. Darknes crept towards them, and covered them in a blanket of blue.

He looked down at her and smiled. "Thank you for coming with me and helping me....I embrace that..."

Re: Bleeding Heart
Don't embrace it..... She replied, sitting on the ground in a relaxed position, gazing out at the dark beauty around her; illuminated by the moon and sparkling stream. I'm doing this to save my neck from being stretched. But then again, the thought of seeing Mordecai caught and hung....keeps me here, and loyal to you. She replied.

Anoron would never forget what that Elf did to her. She hated him for it. This was more personal, then an obligation to help Legolas.
