holidays! this lecture-free time......Im not going to meet anyone *great* and I drink my coffee alone. Everyone is out of town...so no screaming kids around here. And *tata* I finally got some sleep.
thousand things to do.....and its still too hot here.
Got into a discussion if there is a need for websites about ANE for the public. I learned that one should never disagree on a scholars opinion.
So Im in a bad mood....dont cheer me up...I might do something good for society....and, aehm, well, no...I dont have a pumpgun.

Philosopher of science Karl Popper insists that disagreeing with the opinion of scholars is essential for the maintenance of an open society. Objectivity is not a quality of the individual soul, but of informed, vigorous and civil debate. We advance scholarship by careful detailed criticism of published opinions. Suppression of dissenting opinions is not a sign of real scholarship, but of political and cultural elitism.

I've been working with Necro on Ashurnisirpals palace.
We decided to work on this instead of the Eanna, because Necro's prof has a personal interest in the palace and I want to support those who contribute to the advance in knowledge of Mesopotamia.
It will probably be a couple of months until anything advances very far, as I finally found a job (whoohoo!) and am waiting to buy Sierras v12 real time 3D gaming engine and tools and familiarize myself with them.
Currently the project includes the palace and immediate environs in a interactive format, where players can walk through and pick up objects and talk to historic personages and people in the palace.
It is intended to be playable as a game to appeal to a wider range of interests, but many of the resources will be accurate and correct for the period... kind of like a museum exhibit you can climb on and smear peanut butter and jelly without giving the curator a heart attack

Necro, I guess there is a need for ANE websites... I am delighted you are finding more time to sleep (so do I in fact) and pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaase enjoy your lecture-free time!!! We are Mesopotamians. We luv fun and even make love in the Underowrld *tease No other religion I guess have a love story in the Underworld, so I command you to enjoy THIS WORLD AND THESE HOLIDAYS TOO!!!

Marcus, you are the second person who tell me that he found a job! fireworks from here Great! The gods always provide for us... although I guess that to be jobless or very broke has something to do with... a modern vow of poverty for the initiates of the millennia... hmm... I am still broke. Paying off for the last leg of Helsinki and ticket to see John in São Paulo.
I would spend the same amount of money again... because every cent was well-spent...

Back to spreadsheets. If I hurry, will get some more scans, but need to do the day´s job! And ... John is having a great time. He said "great food, good shopping, great everything".

Lack of sleep sometimes means too much energy unchanneled. I know of this... sometimes I start working... and get back to bed the folowing night.... This is why I also started to change my sleeping habits...

1) Marcus, I can understand problems with servers et all because I guess I myself must have had all sorts of server and email hassles ... my server is changing dialers for the fourth time this year this Sunday.. sighs Got the pic????

[sigh] well, it seems like aaaaggggeeeesss since I've been able to spend any length of time on the board lately. As Lish knows, but others may not know, I was laid off from my job at the end of June and received severance pay through the end of July. Now the stick is up and I need to find my new job.
The place where I had been working moved the department I was in to their home office in another city. Moving was not an option for me as I am in a lifetime relationship They very much want to rehire me in another department (marketing) which will enable me to use my creative skills and it is a good career move for me. However, nothing can be done until their new budget is in and approved Thus is the slow movement of the corporate bureaucracy. So I request all positive energies from my fellow beloved Mesos for a new job!!
How have I been spending my time?? Well, the first month I truly vacationed and just enjoyed my time off. I began going on two hour power walks every day to get myself back into shape. However, a tremendous heat wave we had for about two weeks curtailed that venture for a while. Oh, and I should mention, that since I am not at work where I have 24/7 free access to the net, I haven't been nearly as active here as I had been before. Here's to having that change soon!
For all who may not know I'm a true creative ... artist ... but who has never ventured into the market professionally. I do many things, woodcarving, calligraphy, Celtic knotwork and illumination, and creating designs and digital artwork to honor the gods. Creating a T-shirt design for a one week intensive Reclaiming tradition camp (otherwise known as "witch camp") I will be going to a week from TOMORROW was one of the projects I have been working on. Also, I have been getting myself prepared to sell some of my artwork again at camp this year.
A carving of Inanna in the traditional pose (hands cupped under breasts) is where I have been putting a lot of my energy lately. I have been working hard to have it ready for camp as well to put on a shared altar. Also, I have been doing research on Dumuzi in hopes of writing a retelling of Dumuzi's descent to the underworld. I have a lot of notes (which I'd love to share with you Lish), but know I still have much to do, ponder, meditate on, and bring together.

Hmmmm, it looks as if I was the last person to post in this section.
Well, it's that time again... What? you ask... It's my annual pilgrimage to central Vermont for witch camp. A whole week with 125 or so other like-minded folks from across New England, southern Canada and some of the maritime provinces. It has been one of the most profoundly life-changing experiences I have had. This will be my fourth year.
I look forward to sharing with others when I return.
Until then blessings to everyone... and continue to send energy to Lishtar, whereever she is, for healing and recovery. I'm assuming that she's still in Lisbon. Has anyone else received any more recent news?? It has been quite worrisome not to have heard anything from her in over a month.
I will be online until Friday and then I will be off to Vermont
