 Boiler Room
The mill was alive with activity on March 12th. That was the day Matthew Johnson was killed. Matthew was the Shift Manager and he was doing his usual inspections. He would tour the entire mill and look for any and all things that needed fixing or people that needed help. He was a sweet man. He always looked out for his fellow workers.
On this particular morning Judy De'Angelo was working the hydrolics for the large semi-conductor that helps power the entire factory. This wasn't unsusal, she almost always ran it on the weekends. This was the weekend, but that day wasn't a usual one. Eight thirty-five Matthew left his office to start his rounds. Across the mill Judy switched the semi-conductor to second leave valve to release some of the excess power built up in engine two. Now this may sound like a typical work day, but you haven't heard the entire story. It may have started out normal but it ended in chaos.
Nine fifteen Judy switched number two back on full while Matthew was engaging in idle conversation with Barry Lawson, the maintenance man. Both Judy and MAthew thought that the day would be sunny and beautiful. What they didn't know was that the boiler room, where water is sent through a proccess to make it into electricity, was in a world of trouble.
Down in the basement, below the semi-conductor, the boiler room sits. Usually quietly running it process with no problems or mishaps, but quietly was not how it was running today. A tiny hair-line fracture had formed on the base of one of the winding cranks in one of the proccessors. All that power...electricity had been surging through it was now going to be flowing out of it.
Now I know what you are thinking. "Thats how Matthew died." Right? WRONG. Now you are thinkning, "Huh, but then what happened?" Or, "Then what did?" Well, let me finish teling you the story...you probably won't belive me but I will tell you anyway.
By the time Matthew reached Engine room 1, Judy and Lucaus Anderson, her assistant, were heading down to the boiler room to do their pre-inspection inspection. Another usual event turned unusual. As they were headed down to the entrance of the bolier room, Luke kept saying he could hear noises...sounds that weren't part of the factory. Of course Judy paided no heed to himbeacause he had for years been trying to pull a fast on her. She did, though, start to notice little scrapes and marks in various locations on the stairs.
Little scratches or black marks scarred the stairwell. But one stood out. A long and ugly red slash mark that was marring the last step. The one infront of the Boiler door.
They were alittle spooked by this, but the inspection had to be done. Judy opened the door and suddenly found herself on the ground, gasping for air. Something had hit her in the chest that sent her sprawling. Luke sprang into action and quickly came to her aid while trying to find the object and determine where it came from. What he found was two glowing red eyes stairing at him from across the room. The body was shrowded in the shadows but the eyes were prominat. Without the two seconds to scream, Luke might have fainted. Instead he grabbed Judy up and ran back to the top floor; slamming the door behind him. The time then was eleven eightenn and Tom had just walked in to do the inspection of the area.
Judy was sitting in her chair white as a sheet. Which is hard because Judy is black. Luke wasn't fairing any better. He was sweating and pale; pacing back and forth infront of the control panels. Matthew quickly made his way to them and asked what the matter was. Judy tried to explain, but Luke blurted out that it was a monster. Now Mattew is a modern and practical man. He didn't belive in monsters. And I think that was his mistake. he told them to call 911 an wait for them at the gate while he would go check the basement. There was protesting from both Judy and Luke but Matthew won and sent them on their way as he made his way to the boiler room.
By the time the police arrived, Matthew was already dead. They found him lying in a pool of blood beside one of the processors. His chest had been ripped out. Matthew Johnson.........Only one person knows what happened down there in the boiler room when Matthew died. The owner of the red eyes.
