Max and Liz (Jason Behr, Shiri Appleby) are arrested for armed robbery in the third-season opener of this sci-fi drama, which makes its debut on UPN.
The young lovers are caught when they hold up a convenience store in order to gain access to the storage facility beneath it, where they believe the ship that brought Max to Earth is hidden. In the subsequent hearing, Max's father (Garrett M. Brown) handles their defense, but Liz's parents lose confidence after a discussion with the prosecutor. Two juxtaposed chronologies detail both Max and Liz's legal battles and the events leading up to the holdup, including how they acquired the ship's key.
Can't wait for this board to come to life again after tomorrow night's premiere!!! Hope you all join in the discussion!

Okay, just some general thoughts. I'll have to watch it again, then I can torture you guys some more. I'm not discussing this on my own, so IMM and Neeners and BRIAN I expect you guys out here tomorrow!!!
*Once again previews are misleading and some shots are never in the episode. How many of you thought the M&L thing in the water would be a nice romantic little fling? Raise your hands <raises her hand>. Well, who'd've thought that Max was going belly-up (or rather face down)? Wow - his kid is already disrupting his life.
*I felt the "I wanted to be with someone like me, I'm over it" comment by Max was untrue and out of character. However, I liked that Liz laid it out on the table that he'd hurt her.
*I LOL that Michael's alien ability to bring Max around was to slap him! And the look on Liz's face when he did it was priceless!!
*For all that Max is supposed to have changed, he's still the same guy underneath, as evidenced by his decision to leave rather than to lie to his father or live under his roof harboring a secret he couldn't tell. BTW - Is Max living in his car now?
*Speaking of the car - why was the scene where he got the car cut?
*I liked the use of different lighting and camera movement to distinguish between present day and the past. At first the jerky motion annoyed me, but once I got used to it, I felt it was effective.
*Has Majandra taken Colin's place as the glorified extra? BTW - do we now have tension between Max and Maria?
That's it for now. I need to watch it again tomorrow. In all, not bad, though I felt the beginning of it was rushed and there were things (like Isabel pointing out that their parents were "clueless humans" and Liz telling Michael and Isabel that they were the aliens) that seemed like it was Roswell 101 for new comers. Which isn't a bad thing, I guess. Oh well, off to bed. More annoying thoughts later.

Here I am.. and all I can say is THANK GOD IT IS HERE... season 3 that is!
I have to say.. I really liked it.., Loved the lighting... Loved that Liz said she was hurt.. Loved to FINALLY see Max and Liz together.. AND MAY I SAY.. GOSH DANG.. JASON STILL HAS THE BEST ABS AROUND!!!! And Ladies... Its boxers!! haha
I liked it better on the UPN then WB... There was just something better... Not to mention all the commercials weren't aimed at teenie boppers... Somebody noticed that not all the people that watch that show are teens....
Back to the show.. Liz's father looked ill to me when he was on the stairs yelling at Liz... And my God did he give some evil looks! I liked Liz's comment to the what are you wearing... CLOTHS! now that is what a kid would say!
Well enough for tonight..

Morning all!
I'm here, Karen!
Really quickly, noticed on the news last night that both Arizona and Cleveland won in baseball playoffs...bet that makes Lisa (IMM) and Karen (MM) happy!
Oh, and don't know if you non-LAers had some Roswell stuff on your news at 10pm after it...here they showed the Covina Premiere Party and interviewed a few of the fans, showed them doing the walking tour in Covina before the show, and then had some brief interviews with Shiri, Katie, Jason and Jason Katims. Very cool.
Okay, now on to more important things...
My thoughts on "Busted":
-LOVED IT!!!
- raises hand along with Karen...yes, I too thought the strip/skinnydip scene would be romantic fun, not turn into Max face down and Liz jumping to his rescue. Oh well...I'll take the opportunity to see Jason strip down to his boxers --and may I say HELL...O he looked damn fine!-- anyday. YUMMMM YUMMMM I see the possibility of a new avatar coming on. Liz was cute in that scene, too...
-BTW, did any of the other ladies notice that LOOK that kept coming across Jason's face/mouth during his little strip tease??? (insert drool and jawdrop smilies here!) WOW!!!
-Liked the flashback stuff, was nice to see how we got to where we started.
-Didn't notice the lighting as different between flashback and realtime, (duh!)...just noticed it was different at times.
-Loved the hurt look on Max's face as he watches a handcuffed Liz be lead through the sheriff's station.
-Wait til Valenti hears about this one!
-I, too, liked that Liz laid it out on the table that he hurt her, and I agree, Karen, that "I'm over it" comment from Max just didn't seem in character...weird.
-Loved Liz climbing on Max after waking him up and him barely responding because he's still half asleep...and the "Who are you?" comment had me
-Cracked up at Liz going off at Max during the diamond gathering/heist and her throwing the champagne in the lady's face! So not Liz, but funny.
-Didn't think I was going to like the new car, but it does it for me, very sexy, fits Jason/Max well.
-I am pretty unspoiled so I was very surprised when the judge let Max go but kept Liz... YIKES! Very suspenseful and a twist.
-Glad that Liz said no to Max trying to break her out of jail...was a smart/grown up decision.
-Liz's rebellian is unbelievable, but cool at the same time. I'm tellin ya (Karen knows...) I smell the beginning of FMax and FLiz a brewin'! Might there possibly be a trip to Las Vegas to elope in the future??? The way the rebellian thing is going...could be.
-Couldn't believe how she talked to her parents...and how they said Max wasn't welcome in their restaurant, to see her, etc... WOW. And then the looks between Max/Liz as she was "escorted" to the family car...
-Totally thought Max was actually going to tell his dad what was going on...thought he'd say something like, "Alright I'll tell you, but we'll all four sit down and talk once we get home..."
-Cool what Mr. Evans and Max did to get Liz out of jail...they make a good team.
-Don't particularly care for Jesse...have a weird feeling about him. We'll see if my thoughts on him/his character pan out.
-Laughed when Isabel walked in to his room and said, "Thank you for this meeting, Mr. Ramirez" and then proceeds to kiss him.
-Oh and nice blonde wig on Katie in the scene when Liz takes Max after the lake incident to Michael's...
- that Michael's alien way to help Max was to slap him out of it, too, Karen. Typical Michael.
-Lauged at Isabel's "Are you crazy for freaking out our poor clueless human parents" comment to Max...
-Oooo! And at Max walking by as Isabel is leaving Jesse's room! Was that a bare chest I saw as the door closed??? And LMAO that she was "in there with Maria"...
-Loved how Maria bit Max's head off...good friend.
-I'm liking this new Micheal.
-At first thought someone (FBI maybe?) would be waiting down by the ship when Max went back.
-That guy that talked to Michael and shot...weird. FBI or enemy alien?
Ok, that's long enough... It's a freakin' book! Sorry it's soooo long. I just really liked this episode. It was intense and good to get a new audience hooked, too, I think. Let's hope! Need to go check out the ratings, hope they were awesome! Next week's looks more comical and funny after such a serious one. Michael as a security guard... This should be good...

CBS Wins Tuesday; 'Gilmore Girls' Beats 'Roswell'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Overnight Metered Market Ratings for Oct. 9, 2001
Once again, CBS won Tuesday night in the overnight-metered market ratings with a 10.2 rating/15 share (last week, 10.6/16), while NBC's eight o'clock hour dragged it down to second place with an 8.0/12 (9.8/15). ABC took third place with a 6.5/10 (7.1/11). FOX was back in fourth place with a 5.6/8 (5.9/9), while The WB came in fifth with a 5.0/7 (2.7/4). UPN, which climbed to No. 4 last week, rounded out the networks in sixth with a 4.2/6 (6.2/9).
CBS won the eight o'clock hour with "JAG" scoring an 11.4/17 (11.4/17). While still performing solidly, new drama "The Guardian" took a dip for the second week at 9 p.m. to an 8.7/13 (9.2/13). Things were back on solid ground at 10 p.m. when "Judging Amy" closed out the night with an 11.1/17 (11.3/18 ), making it the highest-rated and most watched show of the night.
"Emeril" still isn't bringing home the bacon for NBC, taking a 5.9/9 at 8 p.m. (6.2/9), followed by the equally under-whelming "Three Sisters" at 8:30, 5.9/8 (6.2/9). "Frasier" still managed to shine at 9 p.m. with an 11.4/16 (12.6/18 ), followed by freshman comedy "Scrubs" at 9:30, 8.4/12 (10.8/15). "Dateline NBC" closed out the night at 10 p.m. with an 8.3/13 (11.4/18 ).
ABC started things off with "Dharma & Greg" getting the highest numbers for the network at 8 p.m. with a 7.2/11 (6.7/10), followed by "What About Joan" holding steady at 8:30, 6.1/9 (6.1/9). At 9 p.m., new comedy "Bob Patterson" took a significant dip with a 5.6/8 (7.1/10). "Spin City" also felt the absence of Michael J. Fox, pulling a 6.6/9 (7.5/11). Steven Bochco's new drama "Philly" also continued to see a decline in its numbers with a 6.9/11 (7.6/12).
A brand new "That '70s Show" started things off for FOX at 8 p.m. with a 6.8/10 (7.1/11), followed at 8:30 by Will Ferrell guest-starring on "Undeclared," 5.6/8 (5.7/8 ). "Love Cruise: The Maiden Voyage" finished things off at 9 p.m. with a 5.0/7 (5.3/8 ).
The two-hour season premiere of "Gilmore Girls" from 8 to 10 p.m. gave The WB a shot in the arm with a 5.0/7. Still, old timeslot holder "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" still beat it by a hair during the eight o'clock hour (4.9/7 to 4.7/7), which will make things interesting to watch in the weeks to come. (Last week, "Come Together: A Night of John Lennon's Words and Music," 2.7/4.)
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" turned in a solid 4.9/7 to UPN at 8 p.m. (two-hour season premiere, 6.2/9), but that other WB refugee "Roswell" didn't fare so well in its season premiere at 9 p.m., only taking a 3.6/5. "Roswell's" numbers will be interesting to watch once the teen Superman drama "SmallVille" premieres opposite in on The WB next week.
Ummm...is it just me or can these people not read??? If you take Roswell's 4.2/6, which they also note is 6.2/9, and look at Buffy's premiere at 6.2/9...which they said had great ratings... Um, hello, it's the same freakin' number... 6.2/9!!! So how can they say what they did in that last paragraph?!?!--that Roswell didn't fare so well? Do these people just have it out for Roswell and say negative things about it that aren't true??? Sorry to rant, just makes me angry...

Oh, and did any one else think that the commercial breaks seemed just as long as the show parts??? I watched Buffy at 8pm before Roswell and the commercial breaks during it were not as long as the ones during Roswell... Hmmm, weird. And I'm not just saying/noticing this because it was ROSWELL... the commercial breaks just seemed much longer than the ones during Buffy right before.
Just wondering if I'm alone on this one...

I have a question that is driving me crazy. At the end of the show the showed a dedication to the memory of Tom Holcomb. Does anyone know who he was?
I will post my thoughts on the show later after I re-watch it. Had a house full last night and we were laughing and yelling at the TV I miss somethings. BUT WE HAD FUN!

Tina - I noticed the commercial thing also. Epecially the first break seemed very long. I have a question - did anyone see previews for next week after the show? We Clevelanders didn't.
As for the ratings, everything is relative - depending on what you are relating it to. How are those ratings compared to last year? They look higher to me.
Vicki - that name is familiar and I don't know why.
I'll post more thoughts later...I'm supposed to be working...

They had a Roswell Party last night at the Red Devil Pizza place near the SW corner of Badillo and Citrus in Covina. Number 6 may have gone but I didn't. Besides dinner and Roswell on the big screen they did have a walking tour. I didn't see the coverage of it on TV but heard about it this morning. It was on Channel 13's local news at 10 so I doubt if it was aired anywhere but LA.

We watched the New York feed at 6pm and they didn't get previews. We watch our local channel at 9pm and got a preview. Don't know why they are different. NY has news following Roswell and Vegas doesn't, can't think of any other reason it would be different.
On a side note the NY News had a short interview with Majandra and Shiri after the show. Of course we had to sit through the whole news cast to see it.

I loved the looks between M&L in that scene! Max goes from smiling to knowing something is wrong to sadness in a matter of seconds. He's such a master. Tina, do you know what that song was? Sounded country-ish to me, and well, you know how much (or how little) I know about country music. That whole segment was wonderfully done.

I liked "Busted," and yes we were laughing and it was going full blast over at Vicki's house! We did have fun as usual though!
We did notice that there weren't any previews for the next show when we were watching it over at Vicki's house. So you east-coasters were jipped! I watched it again at home at 9pm and caught the brief previews then. Next week is a Michael episode, can't you see how thrilled I am! Not.
I liked all the Max and Liz action. Liked the fact that the parents were finally involved and present in this episode. Although why did they have to rob the store? They could've snuck in at another time, but then again it did say it was open 24 hours. Never mind, just answered my own question.
The stripping scene was fun, although it would've been more fun if Max hadn't been contacted by his son at that moment. But yes his abs are still beautiful to see!
We laughed when Katie appeared in that scene with the wig. It looked really fake to us.
I think Adam will make a nice addition to the show.
Overall, it was a fun episode!

Isn't it like kids to screw up a romantic moment? So alien kids are no different!
I just also have to vent here a bit...
How can some posters (from another board) be so darn petty about one of the actors skin? I couldn't believe it.. didn't even notice it until they pointed it out.. (Katie's) How petty can some be.. must be awful to be so perfect... I read other boards.. and can't believe how some "so called" fans just RIP the show apart.. It drives me nuts.. its called ENTERTAINMENT... Iz gets torn apart on some boards.. Writers tell her what to say and how to say it.. she is told how to act during a scene... It seems when the "rumor" that Katie and Jason were dating alot of people turned on her and the character of Iz... sad...
Its none of the "gang" on this board... but I am sure some of you surf the other boards.. I just had to vent about others!!! SORRY...
