I read somewhere that megus got his style from lego, but then I see a lot of the stuff that megus was doing, storm was actually doing a long time ago.
In europe there's a style of footwork called pretzel that storm created. Is it possible that the same style came from two different places, or do I just have it wrong.
...
All of the moves that Lego claims to have made up predate him or at least his relationship with Megas, including spiderman footwork and threads which date back even further than Storm to Mr. Wiggles (Mr. Wiggle's breaking = very underrated) and the "Lego Leg" which Swift Rock was doing in the late 80s.
Megas clears up his side of this debate on who and who didn't influence him in his DVD which will be coming out later this year.
Re: ...
Just to tie into this, I just replied to a related post Dyzee made on Freestylesession.com:

hey correct technique, i have some footage that you can add to the dvd when megas was still part of supernaturalz in 97 and he was onlyl powermoving while lego was the only one doing the threadz!!!
anyway, please dont diss lego. he never talks about anyone or anything. He doesnt big himself up or even feel the need to defend his own @#%$. he is the most humble guy. He teaches whoever wants to learn. Thats why others will be quick to defend him.
Quote:Me: Dyzee, I have footage older than that of him in Brampton practicing with Shaun working on now famous footwork concepts and his trademark elbow move among other things. Not to mention 1997 was the year that Megas went out to Rock Steady with his style and I know you've seen that footage in the Boogie Brats tape at least. You're going to tell me that the guy in there doing all sorts of innovative threads and tricks was a no footwork having power head? The fact that you keep bringing up the year 1997 (in a thread on B2DU as well) puts a serious hole in your side of the argument. @#%$, I have footage of some jam from 1996 with Megas killing the footwork (and power) with a close up of you in the crowd watching at one point.
I wasn't there when whatever some people say transpired between Lego and Megas actually happened (this reply is gonna also relate to the topic that I just replied to on the B2DU board by the way), but judging by what Megas has told me about the issue, footage I've seen (either of Megas or people Megas is more than happy to admit inspired him) and what I've collected from certain people who were there at the time (granted alot of them seem to have a big problem with Supernaturalz so I have to take it with a grain of salt), at the very least I can say that the majority of what Lego is claiming Megas sharked from him was pioneered by European and New York bboys (Storm, Mr. Wiggles, and Karim especially) well before Lego.
still talk in @#%$
all of you have no idea. Toronto trend style was out way before storm, and Mr. Wiggles. Just ask Gizmo about Zulu nation 1995, and he will tell you about the style we brought to New York. Everyone there was dissing the Toronto trend style, and Storm and Swift that year weren't even doing that style. And then when we went back in 1997 everyone was started doing the Toronto trend style, especially when Crazy Legs sold the Spectrum battle in 1995 all over the world. So try doing your research before you open your @#$%# mouth.
p.s. if megus bit lego, how come lego sucks? answer that bitch.
Re: still talk in @#%$
oops your right razz. the video i have is from i think 1995 when i first joined the crew. Trust me, the footage doesnt lie. I showed my other friends from the states who were major megas fans too, and they were shocked. Anyway, us supernaturalz are known for a certain style that nobody does and its bringing footwork to another level. ask storm himself. Im not talking about single footwork steps... im talking about the overall package.
And benzo, lego doesnt go on the floor now, he only does tops, (which i hear from your own mouth bigging up his tops) Legos been hiphop dancing way before you. Now enough talk about lego. and to answer your question ending with the word bitch... use yourself as an example and people who you claim bit you. hahhaha
BITE!
yo BENZO i was watching the video when we battle ddt at ur JAM and i did some crap walk over and on the mic u said "I SEEN THAT BEFOR" like u invented it the f*ckin move WTF is up wit dat u didnt invent dat move dat SH!T older then my GRAMZ GUY.
So dont think everyone out to get ur sh*it especially from a move so Universal
The only people i heard about being fans of the legendary so called "Supernaturalz Footwork" is Supernaturalz themselves.
Bag Of Trix was killin it with flavour back when i first saw them in 94-till ... I don't know the history exactly but i know they were the ones who inspired originality through out the scene for many bboys at that time.
And Rumors still go to this day that they hid most of their @#%$ and saved it just for battles. Originality was key to be in the crew from what i heard.
That's a much better rumor in my opinion than saying "we invented this style blah blah blah"
England in 1985
I've got some dope footage of a cat called Scotty from "Live to Break" in england - Covent Garden - 1985 doing some threads. Simple and basic - but this just points out that things start small and often get taken to a new level elsewhere. Sometimes by being built upon - and sometimes just because creative minds sometimes think alike. Scotty also had some of the best headspins I had ever seen anywhere, and the coolest headswipe combos and transitions.
When I spoke to Storm he admitted to me that Mauritzio and himself where strongly influenced by the early UK scene. He couldn't believe I knew London Allstars and Live to Break in the early days. These were some of his early heros along with the NYC originals.
Now on another note - I invented the elbow spin on point in 1984. (Just kidding - I have no idea who else may of done it - but I figured it out myself without ever seeing it done or on video. ) - but in the bigger scheme of things it doesn't really matter to me - as what was really important was that we were reppin and not worrying about who invented what !!!!
Re: England in 1985
i agree... who gives @#%$ now?
SKILLS talk.. one can shout out loud to the world that he invented some @#%$, but if others took advantage of it or mastered that @#%$ and upgraded it, then the credit naturally goes to that person. doesn;t matter if it;s right or wrong... that;s how the world works.
