Can't Decide. . .?
I can't decide which poem I like better, so I thought I would post them both. Let me know what you think.
Relatively Calm (acoustic alchemy)
In a relative calm
the light swirls
sweeping back and forth,
then in a flash
like lightening,
it changes color
or pattern
or better yet, both.
A sleepspray—
like an ocean wave,
is it smoke or water?
forecasting
a spider’s last moment,
before the strawberryaid
conquers the world.
In a million years
a brightsphere—
will do the
dance of the freaky circles
while cominatcha,
as a cottonstar—
poised on a dandelion
proceeds to drink deep
from the electric nation
of the event horizon.
And a sepiaswirl—
will be the illuminator
that allows me
to see the truth
in a lotus blossom.
But as I’ve always said,
green is not your enemy.

Ambience
In a random swirl
or warp—
like a falloff
of water.
In a bubble
or under
a dizzy windmill;
beside Niagara
you found me
and all my bridges
were crossed.
In a blender
X marks the spot
while going
down the drain,
while searching for
the thingus
once owned by
Charles Mingus.
In a dimly lit bar
Nina Simone was banging
the keys while wailing
about the House of
the Rising Sun;
then caught an ocean mist,
a firestorm of
smokey lines,
that appeared on
the scope
of night lights
which never die.
Nobody could be
so sad—
as colors in motion
project their star power
against a cutout
of ice crystals
along a neon highway.
I can’t believe I
just said that,
or even more
I can’t believe
you heard me.
But what we are thinking
is not as important
as where we are going,
riding out our
last days—
on a hot spray
of Jazz.
