Cd and floppy drives won't write

After installing a new floppy disk drive, my computer claims that all floppy disks I put in are write-protected, which I know not to be the case. Neither will it write data to CDs (though it will copy audio CDs.) Any idea what the problem might be, or even what I can do to find out what the problem is?

hi,
try quickly disconnecting the floppy drive and seeing if you cd's write correctly. Also, try installing your floppy drive in another pc and see if it works. Not much help I know but it may isolate the problem. need a bit more info really - pc spec and new drive model etc....

The problem is the computer doesn't consider you a threat.You must confront the computer and punch the moniter as hard as you can.Use brass knuckles if you have them,show the computer that you respect no one.
