Liz starts to undergo some strange, alien-like changes to her body (glowing hands, melting objects she touches), which get worse when she's near Max. Pent-up frustrations and emotions fly to the surface, and distraught, she decides she needs to get away from Max for good and leave Roswell to go to boarding school in Vermont. Maria gets offered a recording contract in New York, but she isn't sure she likes what the record label people are doing to her music to make it "popular."

I got to see the show early this week. A friends father has the BIG DISH and taped it for us.

It was a good episode. NO ISABEL AND JESSE! it was all Max and Liz and Michael and Maria. With the Valenti's tossed in for support.
Is there a shipper group for Maria and Jim Valenti? If not there will be after this. They get rather personal on the stage while singing that Meatloaf song "Paradise by the dashboard light", not a song a 50 year year old should be singing with the 18 year old daughter of his old MIA girlfriend. They did do a great job.
Maria's record deal people are slimy just. Michael was a uncaring and selfish brat. Until he and Maria SLEPT together, later which she clearly lets him know it was a ONE NIGHT STAND! After that Michael becomes mister MARIA PROTECTOR which drives her nuts. Also Maria is clueless as to what is going on with Liz.
OH Max got a CLUE finally! He now understands that he has messed up Liz's life. He becomes Butt Kiss Max. (yes I am a dreamer) Liz starts getting sick and Max does try to help her. The first scene Max is late to hear Maria and Valenti sing and Liz is just a little MAD She is also pissed because Michael wasn't there either. At this point Max doesn't know anything about Liz being sick, she just says it's the flu.
Liz only tells Kyle about this until she freaks out at her Harvard interview. Kyle is the only person that truly supports Liz and always come through for her. By the end of the episode you really want Kyle and Liz together.
Liz tells Max off after he trys to "heal" her once again. He ends up hurting her and she breaks the connection and goes off on him about how he is always hurting her, she let's him have it for sleeping with Tess. Kyle ends up driving her home. Later Max wants to talk to her and she tells him she needs some space and time away from him. She tells her father that she needs to leave and asks to got to Vermont. She leaves Max a note and that is the end.
Very emotional show, but very good.
I bet you guys never thought I'd every comment on a show in this detail. Most of this is out of order. That's why I never write about the episodes.

whoa, that was a mouthfull... thank you let's see... i guess that the whole love and romance thing that got the show started is totally meaningless now... but you know, there always has to be some sort of struggle to the story, otherwise it becomes painfully repetitive. talk about reality bites... lol i can see that this is going to be an interesting eppy. thanks vicki!

Oh, do we really have to rehash the Tess thing again? And didn't Liz already give him sh*t in "Departure" for that? *sigh* And in "Busted"? Is Liz becoming a harp? And we'll want Kyle and Liz together, huh? Hmm, interesting...looks like we've come full circle.

Ryal: it's not that the age is the problem it that fact the she is like a daughter to him. You will see what I mean on Tues. HEY! you all read this? and I thought you were all spoiler free! I even put up a warning.
I will say Max was really tryingt o help Liz, she is just really scared by everything that is happening to her that he get the brunt of her anger. I know when everyone sees it you will have a different opinion than mine. I may even see it different after I watch it again. I did have my son and my friends sons crawling all over us so we had to stop and rewind every so often.
Kyle was such a sweet and supportive friend to Liz and he even gets very protective of her around Max. It's like he has taken over Alex's spot in Liz's life.

okay all I can say is OH MY GOD... WELCOME BACK ROSWELL.. its been a while!!!!!
what a really good show, my favorite this year..... WAY TO GO LIZ.... WHY DID YOU SLEEP WITH HER... You always hurt me... WOO HOOO... the only thing that gets me so angry is that... Ummm didn't he think that she had slept with Kyle? I mean what is going on with that.. at the time.. she could but he couldn't... they weren't even together she wanted it that way, hmmmmm see what lies do??? She crushed him, for all that time.... and she still comes out being the good one.. now he is a mind reader... he should have known.. well in case Liz doesn't know this... Not all men think with their brains... and looks like Max didn't at that time... Has she ever told him about Future Max?
Well anyways I really liked this one, and to see that Liz is really thinking... and finally she gets her powers... she shouldn't be so surprised didn't she have some in MITC? Maybe she thought that Iz was helping her...

So, the Cav lost. Big surprise there. I watched Smallville. Oh, wait, you guys had a new Ros ep? *grumble grumble* We North Coasters got to watch the Cavs lose instead I'll post some thoughts after I get to see this...on Saturday

Karen -- I'm so sorry you have to wait til Saturday...I forgot about that. When I first read that I was worried about what I wrote to you in your email this morning, but realized you read Vicki's recap so I didn't divulge too much.
IMM -- I completely agree...WELCOME BACK ROSWELL!!! It was awesome...but they should've done an ep like that a long time ago instead of waiting so long for Liz's powers to kick in.
*No Isabel & Jesse -- was nice.
*Kyle was such a sweetheart, you did want Liz and him together by the end and he has taken over Alex's role in Liz's life. Great friend.
*LMAO at his comment to Liz, "Well Max healed me like a year after he healed you so I have that long to obsess about it" (can't remember his exact words)
*Maria and Valenti were great at the beginning, and I was cracking up at Kyle's reaction to them.
*Maria's "No shick?" comment to Valenti...LOL
*I never thought I'd say this, but poor Michael. LOL Now Maria's the one walking all over him. But maybe now he'll know what it feels like, huh?
*Loved the electricity running through Liz's body look...thought that was kinda cool. Her reaction at the car shop with the radio was great!
*Was sad, but good at the same time about how she spoke her true feelings to Max after breaking the connection. And then how she shut him out...the tears in his eyes... *SIGH* So sad.
*At first when Liz started saying those things to him, I was like, "Wait a minute. You've been fine together, great even, and now you're freaking on him?"
*Couldn't believe how Liz told her Dad her life is out of control and him not asking or wondering what happened to change her mind all of a sudden...
*I cried at the end when you saw her on the bus and Max reading the letter while Liz's voice read it out loud. I'm glad she said what she said in the letter though and didn't leave with him thinking she didn't love him. =) I would have liked to have seen him like hit his knees crying while reading it in the doorway though...with her voice and the dark slow-motion of the scene would've been an awesome shot.
Next week's looks great, too. Loved Liz sitting straight up in bed...it's going to be good! Hmmm...so it looks like now Maria will be the only one not healed by an alien.

Ok Karen... why is your sports team on UPN? Ours are always on FOX (usually Fox sports net but when they are on the WB they show what ever shows they interruped after the game) We don't have any on UPN. WIERD to me.. You have something to look forward to... It really was one you will like... Its the REAL ROSWELL... FINALLY.
Sorry ya have to wait.. just think you could be like that guy who I used to love to rag on.. GOD what was his name.. OH YEAH BRIAN and not get them at all........
Oh I have to add something... and see if anyone else picked up on it..
While Liz was talking to Kyle at his job.. and she said that Max healed her and that he gave up so much to that... AND THAT IS WHAT MADE HER FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM... I sorta thought it was a bit strange.. like when he healed her was when she feel in love with him.. Like she didn't think about him before at all in that way.. then WHAMO.. makes me wanna go hmmmmm...
9 days til Iceman gets back to work... well back to Tucson..

hmm... liked this eppy, but these people are so confusing... i love you, i need you, you CHEATED... i love you. lol... wondering, a lot of wondering going on here... also, is it me, or does m&m look like they're both getting increasingly greasy? i mean, no offense, but they look a little... i don't know.
i felt bad for michael, but it's true, maybe now he knows what maria has been going through. again, no iz and jesse, liked that a lot!!! i don't know, there was still something missing from the show, but i can't put my finger on it.
hey, did any of you catch the little upn news special on "roswell" after this eppy? cute, "teens, sex, aliens..." yeeeah. anyway, i'm out for now.

Yes, they filmed that January 30 when they were filming in Covina. They're going to air it for three straight weeks, on the news after Roswell, including the one you saw. They also interviewed some fans that were watching. I wasn't one they interviewed, but I may have been in the background on one of them. The ones they filmed on the set were across the street from where the fans were, but the ones with John Doe and with Shiri were on our side of the street and less than 10 ft. from where I was standing.
Actually the interviews were done by Channel 13, the LA station for UPN, not UPN itself. There were a couple of UPN execs there though. I talked with one and she said that no decision had been made yet on Season 4, but that she personally liked the show.

This episode was really great yet sad. Ne wayz, the main reason why i wanted to post was did you notice how old Liz looked when she went to her dad to tell her her life was out of control? she looked so sad and depressed and she looked like she was 40 years old!

Woo hoo! It's Rosday in Cleveland! I guess the only good part of this is that I only have to wait 3 days for the next ep, now
IMM - Cleve's UPN affiliate is a local station that has been around forever (way before UPN existed - I mean like in the Jurassic area when I was a kid ) and they have always carried the Indians and the Cavs. Our WB airs nothing but WB shows, no sports.
I agree with everything everyone has said, but I thought I'd add a few comments.
* Liz, sweetie - you and Max weren't together when he did the nasty with Tess. You actually pushed him to Tess. Therefore, he could not have been unfaithful to you. At any rate, it was interesting to see Liz's emotions boil to the surface on that one.
* I felt so bad for Max that everything he tried to do to help her was wrong and that just by being near her he hurt her. Interesting why that may be...I was stunned when he told her she had to trust him and she told him she couldn't.
* Woo hoo! No Jesse and Isabel and contrived marriage plot that no one cares about! *does a little dance* BTW - from next week's promo, is Katie starting to look more and more like Scully with the red hair do???
* I felt horrible for Michael. I really think he was trying to look out for Maria and was surprised that he flat out told her he could invite her in and tell her not to leave but then she would blame him for ruining his life. And Maria, sweetie - you can never have sex with the ex and have it mean nothing.
* Kyle was adorable! I liked the comment he made to Liz about her voicing his worst fear and deciding it must just be stress Also, I loved it when Liz said she fell in love after Max healed her and Kyle said, "Yeah, me too." Great lines for Kyle this week - it's about time they gave him back some of his snark.
* Ryal, I had no problem with Maria flirting with the sheriff. As a matter of fact, I'd, um...entertain him...never mind...backing out of the room now...
* Loved the tension between Max and Michael while they were digging and Michael's comment "Why did we bury this - what are we, 8?"
* Speaking of the FBI, what ever happened to that agent that appeared in Busted? *scratches head*
All for now. Next week looks interesting. Did anyone notice that Liz is sleeping in her coat and scarf? A little cold in New England for a New Mexico girl?
