Chat Text Colors
Hello, hello!
Ever want to change the colors of your chat channels, but not sure how to do it?
Ever want to change the colors of anything in your text window?
Read on and see how, YOU TOO can be successful at changing colors. It's not magic!
First things first.
Go to:
eq.castersrealm.com/color...rchart.asp
There is a color reference chart here with the RGB codes you will need. Feel free to go through and pick out your colors.
Open your eqclient.ini file. This can be found in your Everquest or Everquest Trilogy directory.
In this file there is a heading called [TextColors] and all the data is listed as:
User_1_Red=
User_1_Green=
User_1_Blue=
<The three lines cover the RGB code for one type of chat - numbers are referenced below>
It goes as high as User_52_RGB.
Now, in order to know what these numbers refer to:
1 - Say
2 - Tell
3 - Group
4 - Guild
5 - OOC
6 - Auction
7 - Shout
8 - Emote
...
35 - Chat Channel Messages
36 - Chat Channel 1
37 - Chat Channel 2
38 - Chat Channel 3
39 - Chat Channel 4
40 - Chat Channel 5
41 - Chat Channel 6
42 - Chat Channel 7
43 - Chat Channel 8
44 - Chat Channel 9
45 - Chat Channel 10
...
To see the full list, go to your Everquest, or Everquest Trilogy directory and open up eqmanual_supplement.doc. There's a section that covers the EQClient.ini file and all the modifications you can make to it. If for some reason you are missing this file, please let me know and I can post it on the site somewhere.
Once you go into the game, your colors should be all set. Use the link above to get the color codes, and put them into the ini file.
Let's say you look up a particular shade of purple, and the RGB code is 153,0,255.
If you want to set Chat Channel 1 to be this color purple, you would change the ini line as follows:
User_36_Red=153
User_36_Green=0
User_36_Blue=255
