However, we'll be chatting again on December 4th, Lord willing! We hope you can come and join us! We always have a lot of fun and it's a great encouragement! Feel free to continue to post at the board! May the Lord bless you! Emilee Elizabeth CHAT TRANSCRIPT connected: ezChat version 0.54 CheriMarie joined CheriMarie:: Am I in the right place? =) Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Cheri! Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes you are! CheriMarie:: Hello! CheriMarie:: Ok! Emilee Elizabeth:: Have you been waiting? Emilee Elizabeth:: I was reading at VW CheriMarie:: For just a couple of minutes! CheriMarie:: Oh I see! Emilee Elizabeth:: How are you today? CheriMarie:: Oh very busy, but doing well! Emilee Elizabeth:: I understand all about that! from being bored! lol Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm glad you're well! CheriMarie:: Right! CheriMarie:: How are you? Emilee Elizabeth:: Doing great thanks! The weather is great today... in the 70s! Amazing for November. CheriMarie:: Oh wow! Emilee Elizabeth:: How is it in the Rockies? CheriMarie:: Oh, maybe in the high 50's to low 60's, very nice to Nov. here, as well! Emilee Elizabeth:: Sounds nice!!! CheriMarie:: It is! Yesterday we even had the windows open for a while! Emilee Elizabeth:: Ooo that does sound nice! Emilee Elizabeth:: Are you looking forward to Thanksgiving? CheriMarie:: ... my youngest brother is having eye surgery tomorrow though. CheriMarie:: Yes, I am! Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh! We'll be praying f or him!! Emilee Elizabeth:: What type of eye surgery will he be having? (I just told my mom and she was asking... she's used to work as a nurse! CheriMarie:: I'm not exactly sure ... it will be his 3rd one... His Handmaid joined Emilee Elizabeth:: We appreciate the prayers too! We are so thankful for brothers and sisters who pray for us! CheriMarie:: I think he has lazy eye... Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Hannah! Welcome! His Handmaid:: Hello Girls! CheriMarie:: Hello! His Handmaid:: Hi Cheri, it's nice to meet you! CheriMarie:: And you too! Emilee Elizabeth:: It's wonderful how those surgeries can help while they are young! So then they don't have problems when they are older! Emilee Elizabeth:: How's Hannah today? CheriMarie:: Oh I know! Mama says that it is better when they are young, as my 2nd to youngest brother has had 2 or three of them, all of which he cannot remember except for his last one. His Handmaid:: I'm fine, thank you! I won't be able to stay very long today, as I've things to catch up on this afternoon. CheriMarie:: I have alot of things to do today too! Emilee Elizabeth:: Thankfully, I've not had surgery (yet... I do hope I never have to though) but I think it'd be nice to to remember the ordeal. Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm glad you two were able to come! We have a bit of typing to do too... so I completely understand about having to catch up Emilee Elizabeth:: to NOT remember the ordeal! LOL CheriMarie:: The only surgery I've had is two of my wisdom teeth extracted! Emilee Elizabeth:: oops! CheriMarie:: :-D His Handmaid:: LOL! Emilee Elizabeth:: There goes my typing again... CheriMarie:: I figured that is what you meant! Emilee Elizabeth:: So! What will you all be doing for Thanksgiving? CheriMarie:: Oh, just staying at home with my family. We always make a large turkey dinner, so that is always enjoyable! His Handmaid:: Well, it will just be our family at home, too, with turkey and all of that! Emilee Elizabeth:: MMm that sounds good! CheriMarie:: What about you, Emilee? Emilee Elizabeth:: We'll be going to my Grandparents this Saturday and then we'll more than likely be home on Thanksgiving CheriMarie:: How fun! His Handmaid:: I can never seem to get enough cranberry sauce. LOL Emilee Elizabeth:: All the family is going to be there Saturday (hopefully) so it'd be nice to see everyone! CheriMarie:: LOL -- for me it's the mashed potatoes! His Handmaid:: That's nice....we ususally have my Grandma for Christmas. Emilee Elizabeth:: When I was little I used to think cranberry sauce was awful... but now I think it's wonderful! Funny how tastes change! Emilee Elizabeth:: Mashed potatoes sound good too! I also am a fan of sweet potatoes! CheriMarie:: Before we moved here to CO, we used to get together with our relatives around the holidays, but now we are all alone. CheriMarie:: Oh I know! I used to dislike stuffing and now it is one of my favorites! Emilee Elizabeth:: The mountains are beautiful... I'm sure you miss family though. Emilee Elizabeth:: Same here! His Handmaid:: Oh, yes, mashed potoates, I also really like cornbread dressing - from my grandmother's recipe! Emilee Elizabeth:: Our "dream" is to move to Colorado someday... around Estes Park... but that might be as far as it gets... a dream His Handmaid:: same here on the stuffing! CheriMarie:: Yes and no ... they enjoy "picking us apart" and do things we wouldn't approve of, but it was still nice to have people around! Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh well, at least we can visit! Emilee Elizabeth:: I understand! CheriMarie:: I'd love it if you moved here!! Emilee Elizabeth:: That cornbread stuffing sounds yummy! I might have to get that recipe CheriMarie:: If you did move to Estes ... you'd be about 30-45min. away! Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh that's sweet of you! If I could be there this very minute I would be! CheriMarie:: That does sound good, Hannah! CheriMarie:: Emilee Elizabeth:: Hannah is that a secret family recipe? His Handmaid:: LOL, Emilee, the problem happens to be that there aren't any measurements for the spices...I was wondering what to do and mommy came over and just started throwing a little bit of this and that in... Emilee Elizabeth:: Mom says hi! She's typing an article right now... otherwise she'd be here too! His Handmaid:: Hi Mrs. Lyn!! CheriMarie:: Same here with our stuffing, Hannah! CheriMarie:: Hello Mrs. Lyn! His Handmaid:: No, the recipe isn't a secret, you just have to figure it out . Emilee Elizabeth:: Ohh it's one of those kind! you're learning from a good cook! We were just talking about my Great-Grandma today and how she never used recipes... just threw stuff in. She said those are the best cooks. Then if you do something wrong the only one to blame is yourself. LOL Emilee Elizabeth:: That was Great-Grandma Lee's motto His Handmaid:: I know, sometimes it turns out really good and then next year you're wondering what in the world you did! Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Cheri ...mom says CheriMarie:: LOL! Souns like my grandma! Mama is always asking Grandma for special recipes, and Grandma ALWAYS sayd, that she doesn't go by " a recipe CheriMarie:: " CheriMarie:: Ooops! :P Emilee Elizabeth:: I used to get so frustrated by that! I was like how am I EVER going to learn if I don't know what to throw and how much to throw. LOL His Handmaid:: Right, LOL CheriMarie:: Exactly! Emilee Elizabeth:: I still prefer recipes as a start...but I'm getting a little more adventurous and throwing a pinch of this and a dash of that CheriMarie:: Same here, especially when I'm "in charge" of a meal... Emilee Elizabeth:: right!! His Handmaid:: You are braver than I - I'm the type who just likes to pull out the recipe and make - don't really like to have to change anything... CheriMarie:: My older sister is very much like that -- never whats to "stray" from the orginal! CheriMarie:: That's good in some ways, though! His Handmaid:: We generally change recipes to make them healthyer or something, which is good, but takes time, too. Emilee Elizabeth:: Great Grandma Lee said... well if you've got a bad recipe to start with... it'll be bad every time... so hun just start throwing in your own ingredients and make 'er good! CheriMarie:: LOL! His Handmaid:: *healthier CheriMarie:: We do that too, Hannah. His Handmaid:: LOL! Good advice! Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes, we do that too! We like to add healthy substitutes too. In the next issue of the Journal we're going to put in a carmel apple cake recipe we made earlier this week. Oh that turned out so yummy... we did try to make it semi-healthy but we just couldn't leave out the carmel. His Handmaid:: No, um, then it would have to be apple cake. Emilee Elizabeth:: right CheriMarie:: That DOES sound good, Emilee! His Handmaid:: So which do you prefer making/eating - cake, muffins, cookies or bread? His Handmaid:: or pie CheriMarie:: That is a hard one ... His Handmaid:: or strudel..okay, nevermind ; His Handmaid:: CheriMarie:: I enjoy making all of those! Emilee Elizabeth:: All of them! lol one it'd be cake (the richest of them all unfortunately!) I love chocolate! CheriMarie:: Bread is probably the most rewarding! Emilee Elizabeth:: It's fun to make! CheriMarie:: For me, anyway! Emilee Elizabeth:: Do you all make Challah bread Cheri? Emilee Elizabeth:: How about you Hannah? CheriMarie:: No, I haven't, although I think I've heard of it before! Emilee Elizabeth:: It's a Jewish bread recipe. It's sooo good and easy to make! CheriMarie:: Yum! Emilee Elizabeth:: It's a braided bread... it's so pretty too. We haven't made it for quite a while, but at times we take it to get togethers and it's always a hit. CheriMarie:: Do you have a recipe of it on your website? His Handmaid:: I've never made Challah bread, but as for the other things, I like to make muffins, or cookies that aren't very sweet - the sweet ones just seem to go to my head. Emilee Elizabeth:: No, not yet! But Mom is writing it on the to do list so we'll remember to add it. Emilee Elizabeth:: I'll be sure to post a note at the board too once we get up online! CheriMarie:: Oh good! His Handmaid:: I think I've seen that before...I'm sure it looks nice and golden when it's done! Emilee Elizabeth:: Challah bread has a little honey in it to sweeten it. And it's the easiest, quickest bread we've ever made and you get great results! CheriMarie:: Oh that sounds wonderful! His Handmaid:: Emilee Elizabeth:: I agree with you Hannah some of those things can be a tad too sweet and go to my head too. ;p His Handmaid:: Do you make white or wholewheat? Emilee Elizabeth:: Kinda have to keep a balance there! Emilee Elizabeth:: We do it both ways or half and half His Handmaid:: Okay. CheriMarie:: Well, we usually like to make whole wheat bread, but recently we got a delicious recipe for bread that uses mostly white. Emilee Elizabeth:: We'll put them all up online. versitile (sp?) You can use spelt and kamut for those who are allergic to wheat too! His Handmaid:: Thanks! Although I usually don't get around to trying new recipes. Emilee Elizabeth:: We haven't been making home made bread as much as we should... we just got a big bag of wheat to grind to make some more since we were about out. CheriMarie:: We like to grind our wheat too! Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh I understand about that Hannah... we like trying new ones...but it does take extra time it seems... although some days we're in such a rut we'd rather just grab something and not get to creative Emilee Elizabeth:: Fresh ground wheat makes the best bread! Mmmm CheriMarie:: I know ... same for pancakes! Emilee Elizabeth:: Kamut waffles are EXCELLENT! His Handmaid:: I'm sure it does! Hopefully we'll be able to get a grinder one of these days. And a bread mixer too, for that matter! CheriMarie:: What exactly is Kamut? His Handmaid:: Oh, you girls are making my mouth water! Emilee Elizabeth:: It'd be a real blessing for your family, whenever you can! It took us quite a while before we ever got one, but it was so nice once we got it! Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL Emilee Elizabeth:: Kamut is an ancient grain. Kamut is the Egyptian word for wheat. They actually found grains of Kamut in one of the king's tomb in Egypt. People who are allergic to wheat can eat Kamut and it won't bother them. It had a great mild nutty taste. They believe this type of wheat was used in Jesus' day! Emilee Elizabeth:: *has CheriMarie:: Oh how interesting! Emilee Elizabeth:: It does have a really neat story. From my research I've found it tastes great with maple syrup! LOL CheriMarie:: Neat! His Handmaid:: LOL Emilee Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL history and then straight to taste testing. CheriMarie:: Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh well, we have fun with our cooking Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh! Hannah... Did your Mom have a nice birthday? His Handmaid:: Yes! She did, thank you! I was able to get a set of tatted notecards done for her, and she loved all the birthday cards she got (the ones Brother and I gave her made her cry Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh that sounds like a really special day! The notecards sound beautiful! CheriMarie:: They do! What kind of tatting do you to? Shuttle or needle? His Handmaid:: Actually she says they're too pretty to use, so I guess she will have to mail them to herself, Emilee Elizabeth:: I have to admit... I usually cry with Dad and Mom's birthday card. They always write something that is really touching. Emilee Elizabeth:: lol! I don't blame her... I'm sure they turned out really pretty! Emilee Elizabeth:: So whenever I get a card from Mom and Dad a hankie is handy His Handmaid:: I do shuttle tatting. My great-grandmother (101 now!) orginally introduced it to me. But those little tatted flowers for the notecards seem to take FOREVER to make! CheriMarie:: Tatting is something I would love to learn! I have a friend who makes beautiful tatted bookmarks, doily's, etc! His Handmaid:: Awww, Emilee. way to tell if we found a nice card. Emilee Elizabeth:: Have you seen Abigail Paul's tatting? Pretty!! Emilee Elizabeth:: That's right! His Handmaid:: I think so - do they have a website? Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes she does! CheriMarie:: Yes, I have sent out a BUNCH of her bookmarks to friends and they are always saying how lovely they are! Emilee Elizabeth:: tatting.paulsgrains.com CheriMarie:: That's right! Emilee Elizabeth:: I just had her magazine handy with the address in it CheriMarie:: Do you tat, Emilee? Emilee Elizabeth:: I've only seen pictures of her work, but they look so pretty! His Handmaid:: Thank you! My, aren't those pretty!!!! What a simple idea, too. CheriMarie:: They are! I ought to send you one! Emilee Elizabeth:: I'd love to know how and I've set out to learn a few times... Mom can needle tat and has done a few little bookmarks. His Handmaid:: How sweet of you Cheri! Emilee Elizabeth:: That's a sweet thought, Cheri!!! CheriMarie:: Did she learn from books or was she taught? CheriMarie:: It looks quite complicated! Emilee Elizabeth:: I have a friend who sent me something she made for my birthday...she lives in Ohio... wink His Handmaid:: I hadn't seen the other pages...so I was talking about the diamond ones...our library has the book she got the designs from for those. Emilee Elizabeth:: She learned through books... it was a little kit actually! Mom says it was really pretty easy to learn His Handmaid:: Awww, Emilee Emilee Elizabeth:: How neat!! Hannah! CheriMarie:: Hmm, I'll have to check out a few books then! His Handmaid:: *wink* Emilee Elizabeth:: Mom and I were just talking about tatting this morning... Emilee Elizabeth:: My Great-Grandma used to tat too (not Grandma Lee...but on the other side of the family) His Handmaid:: I've only made tatted cross bookmarks, but they take me SO long... CheriMarie:: I can imagine! Emilee Elizabeth:: Her tatting shuttle was given to me and I'd love to learn how to use it! CheriMarie:: I'd love to see your work, Hannah! His Handmaid:: Cheri, thank you - I think that I posted one of my bookmark pictures under Handcrafts... CheriMarie:: Ok! Emilee Elizabeth:: It's really odd how that art seems to have dwindled away! His Handmaid:: Yes - it's there! Right under the subject of tatting. Emilee Elizabeth:: I've heard of many Great-Grandma's who tatted...and yet they didn't pass the knowledge down. His Handmaid:: I know Emilee , I guess people are so busy these days that they don't take time to do things like that anymore. CheriMarie:: They are beautiful, Hannah! I'm sure you could go into a tatting business! Emilee Elizabeth:: You're very blessed, Hannah, that your Great-Grandma encouraged you to learn!! Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes! You should, Hannah! Emilee Elizabeth:: A lot of historic reenactors would buy the tatted lace and such! CheriMarie:: I'm sure!! His Handmaid:: Thank you about me going into business, but really, I'd hate to sell all that hard work, and I'd have to almost charge an arm and leg for the time it takes! Calicoprincess joined Calicoprincess:: Hi His Handmaid:: I'd prefer to have a dollclothes business, actually. His Handmaid:: Hello Calicoprincess! Emilee Elizabeth:: Well, you'd probably pick up your speed as you went. CheriMarie:: Really?! I used to have a doll clothes business! Emilee Elizabeth:: My Grandma used to sew hundreds of dolls for businesses Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi! (Is this Briana or Margret?) His Handmaid:: Really now!!!? That's neat, Cheri! His Handmaid:: How did you do with it? CheriMarie:: They would fit American Girl Dolls. Emilee Elizabeth:: How neat! You could add a bit of tatting to their dresses, Hannah! CheriMarie:: I still make a few, but business dwindled down... CheriMarie:: That WOULD look lovely! His Handmaid:: LOL, I really have an ispiriation section here, I see! Emilee Elizabeth:: We're cheering you on! You can do it!! CheriMarie:: Calicoprincess:: Thisis Margret Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Marget!!! It's great to hear from you! CheriMarie:: Hello Margret! His Handmaid:: Okay, well Welcome Margret! CheriMarie:: It's nice to meet you! His Handmaid:: CheriMarie:: Ok! His Handmaid:: Well, I've got to run now - and finish the bread, etc. Mommy and Daddy are tryin to get out of here for a weekend getaway! Emilee Elizabeth:: Let's see...Margret... well... what have I been doing... Emilee Elizabeth:: Those are great songs to learn with! CheriMarie:: Amen, they are! Simple, yet have wonderful meaning! Emilee Elizabeth:: That's right!!
