Mrs Lyn:: have you been here long?
His Handmaid:: No, not very.
His Handmaid:: How are you doing today?
Mrs Lyn:: oh good...
Mrs Lyn:: sorry ....I was over posting about our garden
Mrs Lyn:: did not see you
His Handmaid:: Oh, that's fine!
Mrs Lyn:: How are you today?
His Handmaid:: I'm pretty good, thank you. How about yourself?
Mrs Lyn:: doing much better....thank you
His Handmaid:: Where you not feeling well?
Mrs Lyn:: how is your brother?
His Handmaid:: *were
Mrs Lyn:: no, I suppose it was a virus and then I had an allergic reation to it
Mrs Lyn:: but thanking the Lord...I am much better now
His Handmaid:: He's doing fine now, although he did have some bleeding on our trip, which thankfully stopped.
Mrs Lyn:: that had to be somewhat alarming
His Handmaid:: I'm glad you hear that you feeling better!
Mrs Lyn:: I am glad he is doing better now
His Handmaid::
Mrs Lyn:: thank you
His Handmaid:: How has your weather been?
Mrs Lyn:: It is so pretty
Mrs Lyn:: nice cool and crisp
Mrs Lyn:: my kind of weather
His Handmaid:: Our's is lovely today, too - the sun is shining so nicely!
Mrs Lyn:: here too!
Mrs Lyn:: seems like fall
Mrs Lyn:: I am not very good with this chat
Mrs Lyn:: I do hope to learn how to do the smiles
Mrs Lyn:: Emilee will be right in
Mrs Lyn:: she is going to join you
Mrs Lyn:: shortly
His Handmaid:: okay GOOD
His Handmaid:: my keyboard isn"t working right for some reason lol
Mrs Lyn:: I am trying to fill for her for a bit
His Handmaid:: IT"S EITHER ALL CAPS or no caps>>> oh well
Mrs Lyn:: sorry for the problems
Mrs Lyn::
Mrs Lyn:: seems I have to click on the mouse before the curser will ever come up to type a message
His Handmaid:: computer can sometimes be very INTERESTING!
Mrs Lyn:: that is somewhat different compared to some chatrooms
Mrs Lyn:: oh soooooo true
Mrs Lyn:: We are having some guest over in a litlte while...
His Handmaid:: oh< really?
Mrs Lyn:: Emilee is putting some finishing touches on her area of the house
Mrs Lyn:: she should soon be done
His Handmaid:: that"s fine> have you been working on any craft projects lately?
Mrs Lyn:: how are your classes going for you?
His Handmaid:: guitar classes?
Mrs Lyn:: oh yes, thank you for asking
Mrs Lyn:: I am a beginner at knitting
Mrs Lyn:: I have knitted in the past with no real success
Mrs Lyn:: however, I started knitting the contential way
His Handmaid:: i"ve actually stopped taking them for a little while now< since we have traveling and such this month> It just made me feel to pressured>
His Handmaid:: *too
Mrs Lyn:: I certainly understand that
Mrs Lyn:: I really like the contential way...it is so much easier and nicer...to my liking
Mrs Lyn:: do you knit?
His Handmaid:: mmmm>>>i didn"t know there were different ways to knit! i do a little every now and then (like a dishcloth)
Mrs Lyn:: I am working on a dishcloth myself....
Mrs Lyn:: I really like the cotton yarn ....it is sooo soft
His Handmaid:: oh< yes!
Mrs Lyn:: I happened upon the technique online
His Handmaid:: ( this << is my comma! lol )
Mrs Lyn:: I am so thrilled with it
Mrs Lyn:: I love to knit socks
His Handmaid:: do you have the website address?
Mrs Lyn::
Mrs Lyn:: yes, I will have Emilee forward it to you
His Handmaid:: thank you!
His Handmaid:: i imagine those socks are very cozy!
Mrs Lyn:: It is a really nice website....because there is video clips...to teach you with
Mrs Lyn:: and they are very clear
His Handmaid:: Oh, that sounds really nice!
His Handmaid:: (Yah! My keyboard is working right again!)
Mrs Lyn:: for me this type is so much easier, because you do not throw the yarn
Mrs Lyn:: yay!!
Mrs Lyn:: this leaves the hands firmly in control at all time
Mrs Lyn:: so I do not drop stitshes
His Handmaid:: It certainly sounds like something to look into.
Mrs Lyn:: stitches
Mrs Lyn::
Mrs Lyn:: it is worth looking at...you may prefer to stay with the English method
Mrs Lyn:: does your mother knit?
His Handmaid:: It'd be interesting to look at it, anyway.
Mrs Lyn:: ;0
His Handmaid:: No, she doesn't knit. She really prefers to read an interesting book!
Emilee Elizabeth joined
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Hannah!
His Handmaid:: Hi Emilee!
Mrs Lyn:: sounds nice I too love to read
Emilee Elizabeth:: I finally got that bathroom cleaning done! LOL... not my favorite chore...but alas, it must be done.
His Handmaid:: Right Emilee...that's a good reminder for me...LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm glad I was able to jump in on the conversation...I could hear Mom typing...so I kept asking.. "What are you talking about?!"
His Handmaid:: LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: How was your trip???
His Handmaid:: Oh, was it ever alot of fun!!!!
His Handmaid:: (minus the driving part)
Mrs Lyn:: I thought I would wait and let you tell Emilee all about your trip...we look forward to hearing about it
His Handmaid:: And the wedding was absolutly lovely!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm so glad!! Sorry I didn't get an email sent back to you! You all were on my mind and in my prayers.
Mrs Lyn:: We were think about you all!
His Handmaid:: That's fine- I figured you were thinking about us anyway. Thanks!
Emilee Elizabeth:: How did you get to know the couple? Had you been friends through correspondence or?
His Handmaid:: Oh, well, the funny thing is that we don't know the groom at all! We've been friends of the bride's family since before she was even born!
His Handmaid:: She's the first one of the 11 children to get married! :) So of course, we had to go!
Mrs Lyn:: Hannah, I am going to go now...but it was lovely chatting with you!! i will just sit back and read
Emilee Elizabeth:: Wow!! How neat!
His Handmaid:: It was nice to chat with you, too Mrs. Lyn!
His Handmaid:: Bye, and enjoy your day!
Mrs Lyn:: Have blessed day! Bye now!!
His Handmaid:: Thankfully we did get to met the groom the day before! LOL It was still a little strange though!
Emilee Elizabeth:: What kind of dress did she wear? I just love hearing about weddings.
His Handmaid:: Maybe a could post a couple pictures?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sure!! I'd love to see them!!!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's nice you all were able to visit before hand! The day of the wedding is a rather hectic one!
His Handmaid:: Her dress was short-sleeved, sweetheart neckline, more like an empire waist, and the skirt had a small train, with a sheer overlay.
His Handmaid:: It's really hard to describe, but was it ever lovely on her!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh! That sounds so pretty! I love sweetheart necklines.
His Handmaid:: LOL - All I said to the groom was "hi", I got to talk to one of his brothers and sisters more than that.
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL... oh well.
His Handmaid:: The wedding party were all brothers and sisters of the bride and groom. It worked out that everyone was the perfect age for something.
Emilee Elizabeth:: A friend of mine and I sometimes shop for wedding dresses online...just for the fun of it. There are some very...umm.. unique ones out there!
His Handmaid:: (the groom has 7 siblings)
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's so neat!!
His Handmaid:: Oh, I know what you mean! Rebecca's was the nicest I've seen in awhile!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Modest, yet pretty ones can be hard to find... I've ran across a couple sites that have gorgeous, modest dresses!
His Handmaid:: We went to the rehearsel (which was interesting!). and the dinner, so that was really nice.
His Handmaid:: I would love to be able to sew my own wedding gown someday.
Emilee Elizabeth:: How long were you all able to stay?
His Handmaid:: We got there on Friday, and then left Sunday afternoon. We stayed with the bride's family, so we stayed a little longer to visit.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Did you get in all that rain over the weekend? I hope it wasn't an outdoor wedding...if it was raining! That wouldn't be fun! :(
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm so glad you all were able to go! I'm sure it was nice to get away for a little while!
His Handmaid:: We did get a little rain, although on Saturday it only started showering just about the time the couple left. They were all glad for the rain though, since they haven't had any in a couple months!
His Handmaid:: The wedding went by SO fast though...it's hard to believe they're actually married.
Emilee Elizabeth:: We received over 4". It rained every day on the weekend! But we were soo thankful for the rain...it was getting dangerously dry!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm sure!! How old is the bride and groom?
His Handmaid:: both 22
His Handmaid:: And both the oldest in their famlies.
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm sure...when they look back on it...the wedding went by extremely quick for them too! ;()
Emilee Elizabeth:: oops
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's neat that they are from such large families!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: What a blessing!
His Handmaid:: Yes...one neat thing they did was come back and dismiss each pew after the wedding!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I've never heard of that before, but it is a neat idea!
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's very humble...and gives people a chance to see them and talk a little!!
His Handmaid:: They did that instead of having a receiveing line.
Emilee Elizabeth:: All the weddings I've been to were so rushed...you know... it's like you barely have a chance to say anything.
His Handmaid:: *receiving
His Handmaid:: I didn't really know what to say...LOL so I just shook his hand and gave her a hug
Emilee Elizabeth:: I heard of a neat idea a homeschooled young lady did for her bridal shower...
His Handmaid:: yes?
Emilee Elizabeth:: she gave everyone a special little gift...something they would enjoy as a thank you.
Emilee Elizabeth:: I thought that was sweet!
His Handmaid:: How nice!
His Handmaid:: This is the first homeschool/courtship wedding we've ever been to, too
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes!! It's a nice little keepsake...and so thoughtful. It shows thankfulness!
His Handmaid:: Such a nice way to bless others!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I've never been to a homeschool/courtship wedding. Although, I'm sure they are really special!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Someday I hope to though!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's interesting to hear other's testimonies!
His Handmaid:: :) It was nice to know that their first kiss was actually their FIRST one .
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's rare these days! :)
Emilee Elizabeth:: How special for the two of them!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: and a witness too!
His Handmaid:: Of course, one nice thing is that we have the video, too, so we can watch the wedding and everything again.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Videos are SO nice!!!!!!
His Handmaid:: Christopher put a lapel mike on the groom, so you can hear everything that he says, even if no one else could .
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's neat to look back on them years later and see how people have changed...and reflect on the memories!
His Handmaid:: And everything that those around him say - like the bride, because we couldn't hear her to well during the ceremony.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Good idea! Sometimes it's really hard to hear! Esp. if you're sitting in the back of the church... it's like mumble mumble
His Handmaid:: Well, that was just so brother could get good sound on his video...it didn't make it louder for anyone else.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Right, I understand...but it's nice for you all to watch again...so you can hear what was said.
His Handmaid:: ;) Right....hope he didn't whisper anything he didn't want us to hear. :)
Emilee Elizabeth:: Then you can figure out what the mumble was! LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: O:-)
Emilee Elizabeth:: lol
Emilee Elizabeth:: What were their colors for the wedding?
His Handmaid:: Yeah...last night we were watching the rehearsel, and you could here him talking in another room (nothing personal)
Emilee Elizabeth:: wow!! he was coming in loud and clear!
His Handmaid:: The bridesmaids dresses were periwinkle blue (really lovely) and the flowers were dark pink roses, some kind of light blue flowers, and white lilies in the brides bouqet
GodsHandmaiden84 joined
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh! I love those colors!! Periwinkle and pink are my favorites!
His Handmaid:: The pictures don't due them justice.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Sarah!
GodsHandmaiden84:: hi!
His Handmaid:: Hello Sarah!
GodsHandmaiden84:: hi!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I look forward to seeing them!! Sounds beautiful!
Emilee Elizabeth:: How are you today? It's great to have you with us!!
GodsHandmaiden84:: i'm doing really well!
Emilee Elizabeth:: terrific!!
GodsHandmaiden84:: i happened onto the board just a minute ago and realized-oh yeah! their having the chat! :) i came last week, but it was cancelled!
GodsHandmaiden84:: and how are you all?
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm sorry we weren't here to chat with you, Sarah!! We had so much that had piled up that need to get done... but I'm so glad you're with us today!
GodsHandmaiden84:: oh, I know the feeling.
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm doing just great here! Isn't it absolutely beautiful weather!! I love it! 70* ---it's heavenly to me!
GodsHandmaiden84:: it IS!
GodsHandmaiden84:: i was telling mom that if it was like this every day I'd be absolutely delighted!
His Handmaid:: The cake was really pretty, too. It was all white with white flowers.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hannah was just telling me about her trip to a friends wedding! Sounded so neat!
GodsHandmaiden84:: ;) course... a good snow every once in a while in the winter, and then a few extra hot days. nice.
GodsHandmaiden84:: oh! really! how neat!
GodsHandmaiden84:: do you have pictures?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Ohh...I love those kind..pretty, pretty! What kind of cake topper did it have?
Emilee Elizabeth:: I know Sarah...Mom and I were talking about how much we'd like the weather to be like this everyday too... I enjoy the cooler temperatures in the winter... but I'm not much for over 90*. I melt!
GodsHandmaiden84:: hehe. right.
His Handmaid:: Yikes! I just got about a mile of this to read - what happened?
GodsHandmaiden84:: :-P
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sometimes it does that to me too, Hannah. It has a little "attitude adjustment" every once and a while. LOL ;)
GodsHandmaiden84:: lol!
His Handmaid:: It actually didn't have a cake topper, just white fondante flowers....it was a small size cake - for the rest we had several sheet cakes.
GodsHandmaiden84:: sounds really pretty, hannah!
His Handmaid:: Which did make it easyer to serve (that was part of my job - the cake )
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sounds pretty!! Those fondue (sp?) flowers look so real!
GodsHandmaiden84:: how fun!
His Handmaid:: *easier
Emilee Elizabeth:: My Mom used to work for my Great-Aunt's bakery when she was a teenager... she served many, many wedding cakes... so she has some stories to tell.
His Handmaid:: I imagine so, LOL
singergirl01 joined
His Handmaid:: Nothing bad happened to me, thankfully!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Deb!! So glad you could join us!
His Handmaid:: Hi Deb!
GodsHandmaiden84:: hi
Emilee Elizabeth:: How are you today?
singergirl01:: Hi, I'm fine
singergirl01:: had to check my bacon
Emilee Elizabeth:: Had any of that yummy popcorn lately?
singergirl01:: nope
singergirl01:: maybe soon
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh! That sounds good...we're thinking on the same thing...food! LOL
His Handmaid:: Oh...Sarah - sorry I missed your question about the pictures...yes I do have some! I snapped them when the professial was taking his.
singergirl01:: hmmmmm, food and snakes
Emilee Elizabeth:: it's snack time here!
His Handmaid:: No, I haven't had any popcorn lately!
singergirl01:: brb
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL...what topics!
His Handmaid:: *professional
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sarah, what have you been doing lately? Keeping busy?
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's great!! I'm sure you got some really nice pictures! Do you use a digital camera?
GodsHandmaiden84 left
singergirl01:: Oh, is Mrs. Lyn on too today? Do y'all have 2 computers now?
His Handmaid:: No, a regualar film camera, but they turned out pretty good. Every time I took a picture, my flash would set of the big umbrella flashes the photographer had!
His Handmaid:: *off
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes, she was on earlier...but my Aunt is here now and I left her chat screen up so I could save the transcript...since I came in late.
singergirl01:: oh, okay
singergirl01:: cool
Emilee Elizabeth:: We just got another computer and have the two networked. I love it!!
singergirl01:: my brother tried to get me to buy one that is on sale, but i need that money more for college
His Handmaid:: :) Sorry if you're getting tired of this wedding commentary ...that is what's on my brain right now!
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL! That's funny, Hannah! I didn't know it would do that!
Emilee Elizabeth:: oh no problem! continue on, if you like! I enjoy hearing about it!
singergirl01:: i'm not tired of the wedding either
Emilee Elizabeth:: I know, Deb. There are so many places for money to go!
His Handmaid:: Yep, so you had to be careful when to take a picture, otherwise it would mess him up.
singergirl01:: yup, i hold it for one second, and it flies away
Emilee Elizabeth:: How long did Rebecca and her husband court?
singergirl01:: *goes away
Emilee Elizabeth:: ;)
singergirl01:: gotta go fix my lunch, be right back
Emilee Elizabeth:: k!
His Handmaid:: Oh, let me see....about 8 months maybe...not sure, they did stop corresponding for a while, so Andrew (the groom) could concentrate on finishing his house, etc.
His Handmaid:: They got engaged this July.
Emilee Elizabeth:: How neat!! So, had they known each other for a long time?
Emilee Elizabeth:: (All these questions! :) )
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's so neat to hear courtship testimonies.
His Handmaid:: There families had known each other for some number of years, but they live four hours away, so they didn't see each other a whole lot.
His Handmaid:: *their
His Handmaid:: Rebecca and Andrew actually didn't like each other when they were younger. How things change. LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL!
Emilee Elizabeth:: They really had a change of heart! Well, anything is possible with the Lord!!
His Handmaid:: She didn't even know where they were going on the honeymoon -- surprise! The first stop was at their house Andrew built, which Rebecca hadn't seen since it was completed.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Wow!! That would be quite a first stop to see your new home!!

Chat Transcript for September 4th, 2003 -Part II-
Emilee Elizabeth:: Did you hear what it looked like?
His Handmaid:: (I'm not sure of all the details on their courtship)
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh, I understand! Thanks for telling me some of it!
His Handmaid:: Well, Rebecca told us exactly where room in the house was...LOL It's a one level Ranch...
singergirl01:: cool
singergirl01:: i love ranch houses
Emilee Elizabeth:: They live in KS right?
His Handmaid:: 3 bedrooms...has plumbing so that there will always be instant hot water....
His Handmaid:: Yes, Kansas
Emilee Elizabeth:: How nice!!
singergirl01:: that's really good--instant hot water
His Handmaid:: And the patio is wired so you can listen to music outside...
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes! IT is!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: that's neat!!
His Handmaid:: I'd really like to see a picture of it though!
Emilee Elizabeth:: btw, welcome back, Deb!
singergirl01:: listen, 'fraid i gotta scoot, but at least i got to talk a little though,
singergirl01:: thanks, but i gotta go now
Emilee Elizabeth:: It would be neat to see a picture! Did Andrew build it himself?
singergirl01:: bye
singergirl01 left
Emilee Elizabeth:: It was great to hear from you Deb!
His Handmaid:: Yes, he built it all himself, as he has his own construction business (which he learned from his dad)
Emilee Elizabeth:: I've always loved gingerbread work on houses... maybe someday!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's so nice! It's great to be able to really personalize a home just the way you want it!
His Handmaid:: Rebecca was so funny when we where at her house - she said "the Lefchik's have more things in this house than I do!" since all of her stuff had been taken over their new home.
His Handmaid:: *were
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL! ;)
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's so hard not to travel with a lot of stuff!!
His Handmaid:: Actually, I thought we did pretty good on our volume of stuff this time!
Emilee Elizabeth:: My suitcase is usually rather hard to close and it has a nice bulge to it
Emilee Elizabeth:: when we're gone for a week that is.
Emilee Elizabeth:: One time we went on vacation and took one of our spinning wheels along to teach our friends how to spin! LOL that was an experience...riding with a spinning wheel next sitting next to me.
Emilee Elizabeth:: sorry for the stuttering there
His Handmaid:: We got quite a bit of driving time when we were there, too, because their house (the bride's family) is an hour away from the church where they got married.
His Handmaid:: That does sound like Quite an experiance, Emilee! LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh, I'm sure the ride did get long! Where are they located in KS?
Emilee Elizabeth:: I don't know about you...but KS has never been my favorite state to travel through.
His Handmaid:: Oh my...I'm not good on places...but the Church was in Hiawatha...kind of around Seneca I believe?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes! I've been through there before.
His Handmaid:: I think Kansas gets a little boring sometimes....it's SO flat, but my brother was born there, after all....
Emilee Elizabeth:: Are you all from KS originally?
His Handmaid:: Nope, I'm from the "Land of Lincoln) Illinoise
Emilee Elizabeth:: I know...it is rather flat... west KS is pretty in it's own way... but I miss the trees.
His Handmaid:: (Did I even spell that right ..LOL)
Emilee Elizabeth:: Okay!! We go there a couple times a year. Won't be long and it'll be our yearly trip to get our apples!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Um, I think it's Illinois ;)
Emilee Elizabeth:: I knew what you meant
His Handmaid:: Thanks! It's so bad when I can't even spell my home state! But it really does confuse me. LOL
His Handmaid:: Where do you go to get your apples?
Emilee Elizabeth:: We go to Pittsfield! Have you been there before?
His Handmaid:: Hmmm, don't believe I've ever heard of it!
His Handmaid:: I was born in Springfield.
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's always something I look forward to. They have a big orchard and a really neat little farmers market type store.
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's not too far away! We were about 20 minutes from there last year when we went on a little trip to IL.
His Handmaid:: Oh, Okay!!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: We went to Jacksonville last year for a day trip. Have you been there before?
His Handmaid:: We stopped overnight both ways and got to drive past our old house.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh, the trees in that town were gorgeous! Some of the buildings were so pretty too...really old.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Did it look like how you remembered it?
His Handmaid:: No, I don't think we've been there either...I don't realy pay attetion to where we go through!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I know it's a blur after awhile!
His Handmaid:: Yes, it's pretty much the same...was see it every so often when we drive out to Kansas or something.
His Handmaid:: I really don't have much of a memory of it from when I was little...just more from recent visits.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Won't be long and your CO trip will be coming!
His Handmaid:: Yes - And am I ever glad we're flying instead of driving that whole way again!
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL! Yes...it would be a very long drive for you all!!!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: You'll have to enjoy the mountains for me!! I just love it there!
His Handmaid:: Oh, by the way...I read your question better...My brother is the only one from Kansas, my dad is from Pennslyvania, and my mom is from Georgia!
Emilee Elizabeth:: beautiful, beautiful!
His Handmaid:: Oh, I know! They are so pretty! I can't wait to visit Garden of the Gods again
Emilee Elizabeth:: Wow! Your family has a variety of states in your heritage!
His Handmaid:: !
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh!! That is SO neat! I've been there a couple times!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Pikes Peak is beautiful! We've been up there before, that was quite a trip!
His Handmaid:: Yes! We've been up there several times!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Everyone in my family is originally from Missouri.
RuthM joined
His Handmaid:: We could actually Pikes Peak from the back of my Great-Grandmother's yard.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Will you all be doing some mountain climbing?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hi Ruth!
His Handmaid:: Well, I guess you all just stayed around home then!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh! What a neat view!!
His Handmaid:: Welcome Ruth!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes, my mom used to live in Flordia for a while...but we're all from MO.
His Handmaid:: I doubt that we'll be doing in climbing...but maybe we'll drive up to the top!
RuthM:: Hello! I thought I'd drop in for a few minutes if I could.
His Handmaid:: *doing any
Emilee Elizabeth:: So glad you were able to drop in!!
His Handmaid:: Yes, glad you could stop in!
Emilee Elizabeth:: That'd be fun! They have the best doughnuts up there! LOL
His Handmaid:: Oh?
His Handmaid::
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's one of the few things I remember...from being at their visitor's center. I was little then.
Emilee Elizabeth:: How have you been Ruth? Anything exciting happening over there?
His Handmaid:: It's been years since I was up to the top, so I don't really remember anything.
RuthM:: Oh yes, lots!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I hope you're able to go! Just be sure to be aclimated (my spelling lacks there!)
Emilee Elizabeth:: Great Ruth!!!
RuthM:: My sister and I are making some kits (Sewing/quilting) as a home business so that is the "current project"
Emilee Elizabeth:: How neat!! Sounds like fun!!
RuthM:: and today we've been cooking a lot - all day
Emilee Elizabeth:: Mmmm! What have you been making?
His Handmaid:: I understand Emilee...my mom has an aunt and uncle who live up in the mountain area, and I always get a headache up there from the altitude.
His Handmaid:: Oh yes....food always sounds good Ruth!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I've thought about trying my hand at making a few kits too...like a drop spindle and that sort of thing. :) You'll have to let me know how it goes!!
RuthM:: Vegetable and cheese turnovers, baked spaghetti (not like normal spaghetti), cookies...
His Handmaid:: Oh, Yummy!!!!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's no fun, Hannah...that's the worst part of the mountains for me. But after a couple days we're all right and ready to go for a little while. :) Be sure to take it easy!! :)
RuthM:: drop spindle? that sounds neat!
His Handmaid:: I'll try, Emilee....LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: Mmmm! Do you have a big dinner coming up, Ruth?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes, a drop spindle is the old-time...Bible way of spinning wool! ;) It's fun! I've been known to drop spindle in the car on trips! LOL
His Handmaid::
RuthM:: no, we were just "in the mood" :) and decided to make a lot and freeze it and we also had a lot of extra ingredients on hand.
His Handmaid:: That'll be nice for later on, I'm sure!
RuthM:: that sounds like a really neat idea! Maybe you should do it
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's good to go with those moods and have all that cooking done! We love having dinners in the freezer!! It saves so much time and makes meal preparation worlds easier!
Emilee Elizabeth:: What are in your kits, Ruth? I'd love to hear more about them!
His Handmaid:: Oh, yes!
Emilee Elizabeth:: When we have the dinners in the freezer we don't have to go through the opening the refridgerater or walking in the pantry over and over again trying to get inspired with some kind of meal!
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL...it's like maybe if I open the refidgerator just ONE more time something will jump out at me!
RuthM:: Well, Lord willing, they will be in the VF catalog so you can see them there. One is a potholder and the other is a doll quilt
Emilee Elizabeth:: Wow! What an opportunity, Ruth!! Exciting!!!
His Handmaid:: That sounds really neat Ruth!
RuthM:: Oh, I do know how that is - some days we just can't seem to come up with anything!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I look forward to seeing them!
RuthM:: I just hope they're worthy of it.
RuthM:: LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh, I'm sure they will be! I'd be happy to pray with you on it!
RuthM:: Thank you
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sure!!! I'll pray the Lord will give you and your sister favor!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: HE is able!
RuthM:: It actually was not our original idea, so we can't take any credit for that, but the designs are our own.
Emilee Elizabeth:: I've seen the Keepers at Home/Contenders of the Faith company carry some kits before...I've never seen what they are like though. I think it's a great idea... it'll be your own project in a way...since it's your own designs!
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's esp. neat when it's homeschool graduates who designed the kits I think!
RuthM:: Mrs. Phillips presented the ideas for us which is why we decided to do it - we've really wanted to encourage mothers and daughters in sewing so it really appealed to us.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hannah...you can make a tatting kit!
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's a much needed skill now days!
RuthM:: Anyway, I'm just glad we didn't have to come up with it ourselves and then try to market it. That would've been awful.
His Handmaid:: Oh, right...LOL that's an interesting idea!
Emilee Elizabeth:: There is such a sad lack of it. All there needs to be is encouragement in the right direction!
Emilee Elizabeth:: The Lord will help you all.
His Handmaid:: Yes, sometimes it gives you more incentive to do things when it's all gathered together for you1
His Handmaid:: !
Emilee Elizabeth:: Do you have to have a "test" one in at a certain time?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Right...with some encouragement sprinkled in
Emilee Elizabeth:: Some people can really take off with things on their own...while there are others who need a little extra help....so it's nice it can be tailored to both.
RuthM:: Oh we already did that and the pictures have been taken (I haven't seen them). We're just hoping that the rest of the materials arrive in time and things like that.
Emilee Elizabeth:: It does sound like there are a lot of exciting things going on, Ruth!!! I'm happy for you two!
RuthM:: We also have to finish the instructions. LOL - that's an important step.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes, that is a rather...well..important one! LOL ;) Those aren't too bad to write though...since you've already made it
His Handmaid::
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sounds like fun!!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: You'll have to keep us updated on how everything is progressing!!!
RuthM:: We've written them, and done graphics, etc. but they desperately need to be reviewed and approved...we're still waiting on that and I'm sure we'll have lots of changes to make.
His Handmaid:: Well Ladies...guess I better be going now!
Emilee Elizabeth:: It was so good to talk to you Hannah!
RuthM:: Oh, goodbye!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Thanks for coming to chat!!!
His Handmaid:: I hope you project continues to go well Ruth!
RuthM:: I've missed getting to talk with you all.
Emilee Elizabeth:: I look forward to your pictures, whenever you can post them!
RuthM:: Thank you!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Have an wonderful weekend and may God bless you all richly!!
His Handmaid:: Yes, I'll try to get those up
His Handmaid:: You too, Emilee!
His Handmaid:: Bye now!
His Handmaid::
Emilee Elizabeth:: Thank you!!! And thanks for telling us about the wedding!
Emilee Elizabeth:: bye now!
His Handmaid left
Emilee Elizabeth:: I've missed you too Ruth! I'm glad you were able to drop in today!!
RuthM:: What pictures will she be posting?
Emilee Elizabeth:: Last week her family went to a friends wedding in KS. The couple courted and were homeschooled. So, she is going to post some wedding pictures! It sounded really neat.
RuthM:: Oh yes! I will look forward to reading this transcript.
Emilee Elizabeth:: She described the cake and dresses and such...it sounded neat! I've yet to go to a wedding where the couple courted and were homeschooled...but I look forward to it someday!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: and she talked about the courtship some too
RuthM:: Oh, I've gotten to go to several and they really have been wonderful.
Emilee Elizabeth:: How wonderful!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: So, out of all the dishes you all have made today...what will be for supper tonight?
RuthM:: I think the baked spaghetti - when we are finished with it. It involves making homemade pasta, too.
Emilee Elizabeth:: We are going to do something simple...and we really need to get out in the garden and gather our tomatoes and okra after all the rain they are really ripe!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Mmm! That homemade pasta is good and so filling!
RuthM:: Oh, fresh from the garden sounds delicious!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes! And they aren't reall acidy...so that is a real blessing!
RuthM:: We made 75 turnovers earlier and then had so much left over we made a pie our of the rest (not a sweet pie!)
Emilee Elizabeth:: Sometimes they have a burn to them...if that makes sense.
RuthM:: Yes, it does make sense.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Wow! You all did really well!!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's terrific!
Emilee Elizabeth:: How nice to have all that cooking done!
RuthM:: They actually go quite quickly, too.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Were you all able to have a garden this year?
Emilee Elizabeth:: And they are handy to eat...if you need something quick.
RuthM:: No, not much of anything to speak of.
RuthM:: Mama is hoping to start a fall one, but I'm not sure we will actually get to it.
Emilee Elizabeth:: This has been our first real garden for a couple years now.
Emilee Elizabeth:: That would be nice!! I didn't think we'd be able to have a garden at all this year. PTL! He has blessed our garden abundantly...I'm amazed at how well it's done to have been planted so late in the season!
RuthM:: Our garden has been almost non-existant for about 4 years and we used to have nice ones.
RuthM:: Except for the weeds...LOL
Emilee Elizabeth:: Whenever you all are able to have a garden it should be a really abundant one...since you've let the ground rest for a few years. I think that's one thing that has really helped us this year!
Emilee Elizabeth:: We grow weeds well too...we have a nice tall border of them around the garden! LOL
RuthM:: Yes, we've thought that might be helpful.
Emilee Elizabeth:: It'
Emilee Elizabeth:: oops.. It's something to look forward to!
RuthM:: We also got a few chickens - they are only laying one egg so far, though.
RuthM:: And we're not even sure which one is laying!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Aw! Congratulations! They are a lot of company. lol ;)
Emilee Elizabeth:: How many did you get?
RuthM:: :) Get this: we have five hens and FOUR roosters.
RuthM:: Ridiculous
Emilee Elizabeth:: I have 12 "elderly girls" left now. They are 4 years old now...so it's like a retirement village. LOL
RuthM:: but they were given to us
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL! Well, that's a lot of roosters! We ordered ours special...and only wanted 2 roosters...(1 was more than enough though) and...I think we ended up with like 6 roosters in the bunch
RuthM:: and we're not sure what we'll do with them yet. LOL we've got a retirement village here, too, it looks like.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Are they older chickens?
RuthM:: And they all crow (and we live in a neighborhood)
RuthM:: Some of them are old, some aren't.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Oh my...you have a lot of what-to-be alarm clocks! ;)
RuthM:: A couple neighbors farther down have chickens too, so I hope the ones close by are used to the crowing.
Emilee Elizabeth:: I hope the neighbors don't mind. ;) They are neat...but I know some people can be annoyed by the crowing.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Me too. ;)
RuthM:: However, ours crow at 5am
Emilee Elizabeth:: Nice and early birds!! LOL!
Emilee Elizabeth:: What color or type of bird are they?
RuthM:: they don't wake us up, but we do worry about those next door.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Hopefully they sleep through it too...or will enjoy the "country atmosphere" of rooster's crowing!!
RuthM:: We're not sure what type -they are a mixture and the people who gave them to us didn't know.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Ours are a buff color and then we have black ones with a greenish sheen
RuthM:: Some are red and some are golden. The latter are really pretty.
RuthM:: Then we have some that are freckled.
Emilee Elizabeth:: The golden ones are really pretty!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Murray McMurray Hatchery have some really neat pictures of chickens online...maybe you could figure out what you had by their pictures!
RuthM:: They actually crow most of the day (especially one of the golden roosters)
Emilee Elizabeth:: How neat! Sounds like a wide variety!
RuthM:: I'll have to check that sometime.
RuthM:: Thankfully our dog is so far quite indifferent to them.
Emilee Elizabeth:: It's so weird... we have a buff rooster and we had a black rooster. Well the black one would crow anytime of day...
Emilee Elizabeth:: but the yellow one has never crowed and whenever it does "talk" it sounds like a baby chick peeping! LOL
RuthM:: How funny!
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's good about your dog! Our collie thinks they are strange looking sheep that need to be herded. LOL
RuthM:: We'd really appreciate getting some more eggs. I hope they'll get the point.
RuthM:: Well, it probably helps that our dog is nearly deaf and can't see overly well.
Emilee Elizabeth:: LOL...you'll just have to encourage them a little! ;) Have you tried putting fake eggs in the nests?
RuthM:: She's still quite spry.
RuthM:: No, that's an idea.
Emilee Elizabeth:: Poor doggie... but I guess that's good for the chickens.
Emilee Elizabeth:: It worked good with our "girls" they got the idea and really started laying!
Emilee Elizabeth:: That's what a lot of farmers recommend doing.
RuthM:: We'll have to try that!
RuthM:: Thanks!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Yes! After a little while, they'll get it figured out.
RuthM:: I hope so...
Emilee Elizabeth:: Do you all have a cetain place for them to lay their eggs...like nest boxes?
RuthM:: Sort of, nothing fancy yet.
RuthM:: I guess I'd better get back to supper.
RuthM:: I hate to go...
Emilee Elizabeth:: Just so long as they have a regular place to lay it'll be easy to find the eggs...and they'll start really producing!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I'm so glad we got to chat!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Have fun with your chickens!!
Emilee Elizabeth:: talk to you later...and I'll be praying for you and your sister!
RuthM:: Thank you and goodbye!
Emilee Elizabeth:: God bless, have a wonderful weekend, and bye now!
RuthM:: Tell your mother hello!
Emilee Elizabeth:: I sure will!! Please tell your Mom and sister hi for me too!
RuthM:: :) Okay. Goodbye!
Emilee Elizabeth:: Bye now
RuthM left
