City Restaurant Date Bars
Here's a new recipe I tried recently (and refined :) ). My dad and brother aren't real big on dates, but everyone in my family liked these! Enjoy!
Atlanta

City Restaurant Date Bars

3 ½ cup dates- cut fine
1 cup water
½ cup sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 cups oats
2 1/3 cups flour
1 ½ cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/3 cup butter, melted

Boil dates, water, and sugar for five minutes. Add in lemon juice and cool to room temperature. Combine remaining ingredients, and press half of the mixture evenly into a 9" x 13" baking pan. Spread date mixture evenly over this. Spread remaining crumb mixture on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes.
