Civil War Days in Arkansas Dear Girls, I thought y'all would enjoy the story of Margret and I's Civil War reenactment in Old Washington, Arkansas. It started on Friday October 31 with school children coming to see all the camps, drilling with a foot solider, hearing the cannon fired and listening to all the people who were protraying the home front in 1863. My sister and I were part of the group. We gave our home dyeing program on Friday and the children loved it. On Saturday at 9:00 am sharp we were there setting up for the "everyday" people. On this day Margret was helping her new friend Miss Amber L. in the first permanent (sp?) Jewish settler in the whole state. Acting like they were the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Abramham Block, the girls gave tours of their home and even got riled up when the Union soliders drilled in the front yard. I was on the back porch of the Block home training another ypoung lady to do the dye program.Saturday afternoon the soliders had their first battle about two miles from the Block and since I was set up on the back porch all four of us girls walked down to the battle site. The battle was really good I got to see for the first time some of the Southern Frock Coats I had sewn in action. Afterward we walked the two miles back. At about 3:30 pm I helped with the Horsemanship Games. The rider jumped their horses and tried to shoot balloons, and cut pumpkins with their sabers. The guns are loaded with blanks so no danger. And yes shame on us with did work on Sunday. But we did take it easy and all four of us showed the Block Home. I helped un-harness a team of mules and got to help give them a bath. Again we went to the battle but this one was better than ever. One of the men had trained his horse when he played dead it did also. We left at about 6:00 pm that night after we had finished talking to all our friends and family. I am still trying to the photos of that event. If I ever get them I will try to post them on here. Well I am off to pack my bags we leave for Chicago sometime today. Love In Christ, Briana |

Hi Briana!
It was neat to hear about your reenacting event! Thanks for sharing the story with us! I was wondering if you've ever heard about "Reenactor's Missions for Jesus Christ?" We've most recently heard about them! Have a safe trip to Chicago! Until next time...Blessings in Jesus! Emilee |
