Hi Ladies, Are any of you working on college classes, now that you've graduated? Or, are you studying on some now, while you're being homeschooled? It'd be interesting to hear what you're working on! Currently I'm studying for a B.A. in Christian Education. It has been such a blessing from the Lord. I do all my university classes by correspondence. This helps me keep up with all my other commitments! We searched and search and searched for "just the right college." The Lord is so faithful to lead us if we just ask Him. I thank the Lord for my University! I look forward to hearing what you're studying on! In HIS Hands... Emilee Elizabeth Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Eph. 3:20-21 Edited by: Emilee Elizabeth at: 2/18/03 10:18:45 am |

Emilee...
Would it be possible for you to post the University that your taking your correspondence courses from? I'm not taking any classes right now...as I feel that unless the Lord directs me specifically to study something, I'll continue "training" for my main calling, future homemaker and wife someday. I do like the idea of studying through correspondence and being able to stay at home but I haven't been able to find any that are conservative and aren't too expensive. I'm looking forward to what others have to say also. ~~ Aja

I know Bob Jones University offers correspondence courses, but I don't think you can earn a full degree through it. It's in SC, so it's not close to home, but I'll be home in the summer and for holidays, so that won't be too badI'm planning to attend there in the near future, to study church music, and possibly drama. I almost wish I could do a double major, but I know that's very hard, so I don't think I will. A double major has around 22 credits I think. My sister had 19 her last year of college, and that was very tough. Emilee, what's the name of the college your course is through? Blessings, Deb ![]() "Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace: Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life." --St. Francis of Assisi |

I am doing correspondence college also. I believe God called me to do this, and that we need to be so careful to follow HIS plan for us regarding college. It certain isn't always easy to figure out what He wants, though. I am taking courses through Whitefield College, which is affiliated with Whitefield Seminar and Christian Liberty Academy. The courses are from a REFORMED Presbyterian perspective, and have been excellent. I haven't liked everything they teach, of course, but overall I would highly recommend it. Here's their site: whitefieldcollege.org But the only thing you can do there at this point is request a cataloge. Atlanta |

I'm in gr. 10..well would be if I wasn't homeschooled. Anyway, I want to start a bakery, and I'm not a real collage/university person. I like little groups, not masses It's pretty small, and is called "heratige" because it offers all the old trades. eg. Blacksmithing, Stone Masonry (which my brother wants to take) Tin bashing...etc. It's also close to home! Just thought I stick in this little note. God Bless, Jenny

Hi Girls! The college I study through is called Patriot University. I absolutely love their courses! It's from a Baptist perspective. Their classes are not "threatening" as some college courses might be. They are simple, yet complex in what you study, straight forward, easy to understand, and it's easy to retain what you've learned. It's such a blessing too, because you can set your own tuition rate!! The minimum for undergraduate tuituion is $25.00. My classroom is in my bedroom and I can study anytime I want from 6:00am to 2:00am! LOL Here's Patriot University's internet address, if you'd like to visit their page...www.patriotuniversity.com It may not be for everyone but the Lord has used it to bless my life! I always said if I ever wanted to go to college out of state I'd choose Colorado! I absolutely love the mountains. See, the Lord even heard that desire of my heart...Patriot University is in Colorado and you can attend graduation in Colorado Springs when you complete your degree! The Lord is so good! I'm an Ambassador for the University. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help. If you do consider enrolling let Patriot know Emilee Elizabeth Freie sent you! Atlanta: I just found out about Whitefield College not too long ago! Jenny: The school you plan on going to sounds like so much fun!! How nice that it's so close to you. I've heard about one in North Carolina (I believe that's the state) that is similar to the one close to you! The lady who taught Mom and I how to spin, on a spinning wheel, goes to NC to teach at their school too!

Yes, Emilee, I am working toward a degree (at this point I am amazed that you pay so little for your courses! I am paying a LOT more! Atlanta Jenny, that would be so neat if you started a bakery. I have always been interested in things like that because I love cooking. Atlanta |

Emilee. I showed my dad the website for PU and we are very interested in doing their correspondence classes. He for Biblical Counseling (Masters) and me for Elementary Education. We do have a few questions and I thought I would post them here in case others had the same questions. 1). The price seems very good (set your own tuition). But I noticed that books were another fee and I saw something else about course fees. Is that $25 for everything (books and all) or just for the tuition...then you pay for the books and other fees separately? 2). Did you find that once all the fees were added that it was a lot to pay? 3). Is PU accredited? I saw a Q&A page but it never really said if they are? Are they accredited under a certian organization? 4). Also under the payment plan A...you have to take 10 classes in a year. Was that a lot for you or did you find that the balance was good? Dad is interested for me and him......he looked at the "statement of faith" and said it sounded very sound. We are independant baptist. We are excited about starting Lord willing Thanks Emilee..... Hi Aja!Sorry it's taken me a little while to get back with you! We've been extremely busy around here. I'm happy to hear that you and your Dad are interested in Patriot! It has been such a blessing for me!! Thanks for posting your questions here!! 1). The price seems very good (set your own tuition). But I noticed that books were another fee and I saw something else about course fees. Is that $25 for everything (books and all) or just for the tuition...then you pay for the books and other fees separately? The minimum $25.00 a month is just for tuition. Here is a listing of the fees for a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Christian Counseling... B.A. Elementary Education Fees Application fee $65 (one time fee when student first enrolls) Tuition: PLAN A - Student Selected Monthly Tuition (suggested–$35-$55, minimum of $25) Book fees (inc. shipping) varies (average $20 per course). The fee is paid as you order them. There is no minimum on how many courses to order at a time. However, you do need to order atleast 10 a year to remain a Plan A student. Practice Teaching fee $15 Graduation fees: Bachelor of Arts $95 Other Fees...(These are options which do not have to be persued. But I just thought I'd list them for your information.) There are other fees if you would like to take an exam to see if you can "test out" of some of your classes and receive credit for them. The cost for the Equivalency Exam is $85 (no charge for credits). Or, if you have experience in the ministry (Sunday School teacher, help at church, family ministries, ect.) you can send in an application for a Life Experience and Ministry Evaluation. There are fees that go along with this too. This will help you gain credits for your studies. The LEME costs $40 (+$5 per credit hour). M.A. in Christian Counseling Fees Application fee $75 Tuition: PLAN A - Student Selected Monthly Tuition (minimum of $35 while taking courses) Book fees (inc. shipping) varies (average $30-$40 per course) Masters Thesis (or Thesis project) fee $250 (All students are on PLAN B during thesis or dissertation work) PLAN B - $50 per credit hour. Graduation fees: Master of Arts $125 Other Fees... Once again these are not required payments. However, if you'd like to try to "test out" of some of the courses you can take the Equivalency Exam for $85 (no charge for credits). The Life Experience and Ministry Evaluation (i.e. experience as a Sunday School Teacher, family ministries, counseling, ect.) is $40 (+$10 per credit hour). 2). Did you find that once all the fees were added that it was a lot to pay? No, not at all. It's so much more reasonable than attending a college. There are so many more benefits to study by correspondence, instead of traveling to a college. At least that's what I've found. 3). Is PU accredited? I saw a Q&A page but it never really said if they are? Are they accredited under a certian organization? This page will give you more information on Patriot's Stance on Accredidation. www.patriotuniversity.com...tation.htm Patriot stands for Seperation from Church and State. So they do not seek out governmental accredidation, as do most other colleges. I think it's interesting to note that Havard's Seminary is still not governmentally accredited for the same reason as Patriot! 4). Also under the payment plan A...you have to take 10 classes in a year. Was that a lot for you or did you find that the balance was good? Ten classes was a great balance for me. The classes are very easy to complete in that period of time. It allows for time off, yet keeps your study habits polished up. I found this helped me stay on track. I did!! Praise the Lord!! Patriot is sensitive to the leading of the Lord. I've found their courses to be excellent, and they provide a comfortable atmosphere for learning...your own home! I hope this information has helped you! "threatening". By the way... Aja if you'd like me to send you a school catalog and more info I'd be happy to mail them to you! I do have your address. Just let me know and I'll drop them in the mail. I look forward to hearing from you again sometime soon! Love and Blessings! Emilee Elizabeth Edited by: Emilee Elizabeth at: 3/6/03 9:06:13 pm |

Algonquin heritage college sounds really neat..I'm thinking about taking some courses similar to what you were talking about this summer..I may take blacksmithing, stonemasonry, basket weaving, herbs, and twig furniture construction. I sounds really fun. Do you happen to have a link for Algonquin Heritage? |

My mom is finishing her bachelor's in Christian Ed. from Patriot (thanks Emme!) She only has a few more courses left. And then she will be getting her Master's in Christian Couseling. She likes Patriot really well. I am finishing up my homeschool high school this year. (All I have left is some English and a missions course I am taking as an elective.) Well, I have been praying for quite some time about attending a certain college. But do not think the Lord is leading me to attend this coming fall. So Lord willing, I will begin taking courses from Patriot. The college I think I'd like to go to said I could take 30 hours and it would transfer. So I'm really excited about that! Love in His Hand, Kristin

WOW! I am sooooo excited to hear about these college opportunities!! They are THRILLING!!! I have really been looking and praying for something like this to *pop* up! I am going to check them out very well! Some of you were mentioning these domestic classes of learning how to do old fashioned skills! I would LOVE to do that!! Where on earth, or how on earth did you find out about some of these places?! I did go to a University (accredited) for one college semester. Even though I gained some knowledge, and did have some good experiences while there... It was NOT the place for me to continue on with an education there. It's really sad how many "Christian" colleges are so far from the REAL thing! (Jesus!!!) At any rate, I am home again, home again jiggidy jig! and I am GLAD!! I love home!! I help work in our families home business of building mini barns, and do alot of house work, and yard/garden work, plus do a few side jobs on my own! So, I keep BUSY!Thank you so much for posting about these colleges!! Prayerfully in Jesus, sarah ~*Great peace have they which love the Lord*~ |
