Companion Planting
A few years ago, I read about a method for warding off garden pests - companion planting. Some plants, if planted near each other, repel insects.
For example, planting white icicle radishes near cucurbits (cucumbers, melons, squash) will repel squash bugs. I tried it one year, and it seemed to work. When I got lazy last year and didn't plant the icicle radishes, my garden was full of squash bugs.
