Computer won't boot past BIOS when HD connected
I just put together a new computer, with a serial ATA drive as the primary hard drive. I've had a laptop for the last couple of years, and had been connected a maxtor 120GB IDE drive via an external firewire enclosure to it. A couple of weeks ago the laptop stopped recognizing the drive, so I tried to put it in the new computer. The BIOS recognizes the drive, and even knows the specific model maxtor that it is, but it won't boot. After it lists the drives, at the point it would normally boot the OS, it just stops, and says "Press F4 to enter setup" and won't do anything unless I go into the CMOS and disable the drive. Any ideas? Anything I can use besides a $1000+ data recovery service to rescue this HD? It's a maxtor 6Y120L0 (according to the sticker on it - 6Y120L4 according to the BIOS).

Thanks for any help!

Laptop eh?

I know how to fix that perfectly! First go get a bungee cord and go find a deserted road at around midnight.Begin by wrapping the bungee cord around the lap top, tape it with very strong tape and glue it with a glue gun.Now get in youre car and tie one end of the bungee cord somewhere in youre car close to the window making sure the lap top is hanging out the window.Start driving, make sure you get to atleast 90+ mph. Also make sure the laptop is hitting the ground.

It should work perfectly after that.
