Controls/Instruments
I am a bit confused:\

I am not sure of the rules when it comes to wiring in indicators, lights and wipers. At the moment they are on stalks on the steering column but I want to run them thru switches on the console.

In the 2004 cams manual page 7-89 it states:
CONTROLS
"all driving controls must retain the role laid down for them by the manufacturer"

INSTRUMENTS
"Instuments are free"

1. Witch section do indicators, lights and wipers fall under?

2. Are some of you using aftermarket switches?

Re: Controls/Instruments
Basically as long as you have working lights (high and low beams), indicators and wipers, you satisfy the "must retain the role" part.

The part where some may disagree is how they are activated. Somewhere on this forum there's a thread where people have posted pics of their 'office'. So have a peek at that.

But personally, I have all mine running off toggle switches off a specially made switch panel on the trans tunnel. And yes, they are all aftermarket switches.

Re: Controls/Instruments
On the other hand, i have retained the controls on the steering column - lights, wipers, etc. I can't see that there is too much to be gained by moving them elsewhere. :\

I have, however, moved the radiator fan to a manual switch in a box on the trans. tunnel (along with on/off etc.). That is, it is not controlled by the car's thermostat. This is mainly to allow me to turn the fan on and off on the dummy grid on hot days.:smokin

Yeh, and most of the times you turn it on when you are in the dummy grid , you forget to turn it off as you head out on the track. Too many other things to think about......not that i have done it:\

I can, Blair...

Me being me, if and when I run out of talent, I dont want to be knocking on the wipers, the highbeams, the indicators and so on while I'm trying to ensure the Torana doesn't meet the scenery.... :rollin

To answer Barney's original question;

" Electrical system: The wiring and electrical connectors, switches, fuses and circuit breakers, Starting, ignition and generating systems are feree. Apanel incorporating adfditional/replacement switches and/or circuit breakers may be added............."

I guess the controls mean the steering Wheel and pedals, ie you cant use the brake pedal to raidse the ront ride height, or open the boot (hey Mark!! ;) )
