I strongly urge anyone who has not yet sailed in the Hebrides to do so:
We enjoyed a mixture of weather, including six days of sunshine in a row, which is unusual, but the scenery, the people we met, the Malt Whiskies, the wildlife [ sitting in the cockpit with a glass of Talisker watching a pair of ravens on the cliff and a fawn in the bracken beside the water, with the sun going down in a quiet anchorage] and the fast tides [you can easily do 12 and 13 knots over the ground by timing the tides right] make the experience something uniquely memorable. We have been sailing on the scottish West Coast for many years now, but it is always new and exciting.
