FF7.. Just plain Easy? Or am i just too damn good for it? mwuhaha.. well, quite a while ago when i first got Final Fantasy 7 (first FF i ever played btw) i played it relentlessly, and even managed to finish it in short time.. and what were my ending levels? all around 55-60 to kick the shit out of Sephiroth without reletive troubles and/or experience.. i even finished it without using a FAQ (well, i used a FAQ to get little tit bits, Safe Combination, Piano Tunes, etc) so, yeah.. did anybody else happen to find FF7 to be like uh.. too easy for the 3CD span or what? heh.Show results
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
Well I found it a bit hard....since it was my first RPG and I didn't know leveling up is vital.....(and I didn't have knights of the round) but I think in general it might be a esaier FF...
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
Final Fantasy VII was easy if you knew what you were doing! Ever tried going through it without any materia? It's a little harder. I think the reason why it was so easy was the endless combination of materia links. So then the people who were able to think, and trained a little bit more, it was easy. But you have to admit, since Square moved to Sony it's been the hardest.
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
Yeh FFVII was a little to easy for my liking, i got bored of it eventually seen as every fight was the same although sephiroth was a slight challenge
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
its not exactly the easiest cause ff8 and 9 are easier since I slipped through them like butter in some ways..... but it is easier than the snes and ff tactics games..... hehe.....
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
The No Materia thing isn't nearly as hard as it sounds, because most Materia decrease your physical stats. Thus, playing without Materia will in general boost your attack power and defense. But I still recommend a lot of levelling up.

Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
Yeah, i hear that.. heh, pretty much ALL of the Magic/Summon Materia Decreases your strength/vitality anyway, so you get beatup more easy, heh. But i'll tell you this.. Level 99 Cloud + Ultima Weapon + Ribbon = 0wned the Battle Arena, several times over. Mwuhaha... i got my W-Summon 2 night ago and got myself a purdy Final Attack Materia which i'll put to use against the Weapons when i get around to KOTR and stuff.
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
i just started playing a few days ago and i got to lvl 27 or something and kicked that Shinra Serpents ass and after that all the battles are easy...my materia is at the lvl 2 spells and such...easy so far...
but if i didn't lvl up and get a chocobo and run accross the lake thingy i would be screwed....
i guess it just depends on how you play
if you like to lvl alot, like me, then its easy
if you don't, then its harder
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
*sigh* To tell you the truth, dude, 55-60 is like, an average level range for FF7 players at the end of the game. It's nothing really special. Plus, a lot of RPGs are quite easy, you just have to use a bit of logic and common sense. If you start to become weak, you level up and make your characters stronger. If you have a lot of useless items, sell them. I don't think many RPGs in general require much thought, especially since there aren't that many puzzles in them. Games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil have several puzzles in them, (although RE tends to have pretty easy ones), and quite a few can be tricky, especially in Silent Hill games. In RPGs, the only thing that you can really get all that lost in is the storyline, and occasionally a maze-like dungeon. If you begin to see that you're having a hard time, then it's because you simply didn't have the sense to level up and not run from every other fight. You get what I'm tryin' to say?

"Games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil have several puzzles in them, (although RE tends to have pretty easy ones)"
I hate to pull this discussion into something else, but the RE puzzles are not hard--they're dumb. The puzzles don't require logic or reasoning. They always require you to do something that you'd never think to do. Usually, you have to read something in some random manuscript that you might find, and it will tell you what to do. Don't get me wrong, RE is a fantastic series, but I love it for the suspense not the puzzles.
In any event, FFVII was moderately challenging. The two omega weapon things (the ruby one in the desert, and the emerald one in the ocean) we're quite difficult. They were a great challenge for powerful characters. Square knew people would have high level characters well after players beat the game, so they added a nice challenge for them. Very cool.
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
FF7 was way to easy, it suffered pretty badly from the "mash the confirm button syndrome", and the materia system was way to easy to exploit. Every character could be made into an ueber-powerful Red-Mage. I've played it through several times without getting a single game over, save for a few failed attempts at Ultima and Ruby WEAPON.
As for the hardest, I'd say the first two. Anyone fond of the old school FFs should get Origins, even if you have the original NES roms. It's a really sweet nostalgia trip, without the fugly 8-bitedness.
Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
yes, but isn't the "fugly 8-bitedness" part of the nostalgia trip?
For me, I never played the second one when it was actually release, so it isn't a nostalgia trip. The first game is another story. I would also agree with you that the first game can be really difficult. Still, the game can be beat using the time-old method of gaining levels. Using that thinking, most RPGs are relatively simple.

Re: FF7.. Just plain Easy?
FFVII wasn't too difficult. The first time around I beat it in like 50-60 hours at about levels 65 or so. My second time through I was way over-leveled and I could beat most of the bosses in one or two hits.
FFX was the easiest FF I've ever played, almost no challenge for me what so ever.
