FInding Evil by Quew
I have just read this (yes I know I'm late - so what's new?) and it is brilliant, really scary. :(

And it gave me a really creepy idea for a fic and then I thought, in the spirit of Christmas, we need more ghost/horror stories, preferably with a nice Christmas feel.

So there you go: T/7 ghost/horror stories or non-T/7 ghost/horror stories (I have another site for non-T/7 femslash of any nature), preferably with a nice Christmas feel.

:evil

The next part for a Voy/Doctor Who cross over, (by the way Rach have read the first part yet?), is going to be pretty creepy, but non christmas, so it doesn't really count, so I don't know why I am posting this, oh bugger I have seemed to have picked up Ralst's 'Darkside blabering syndrome!'

Re: Doctor Who
A Doctor Who/ Voyager crossover. Hmmm! That brings me to another thought. Why is there no current English scifi drama show on TV?

There are several good shows about on American TV but nothing in the UK since God knows when (not counting Red Dwarf or The Hitchhiker's Guide as these were extended spoofs)

If I could think of a decent idea I'd write one myself. I guess the problem is that American culture is so overwhelming that it's hard to find a reason to anchor a SciFi show in Britain.

But it has been a long time. :\

Re: Doctor Who
British sci-fi kind of peeked in the 70 and early 80, when we had some very original stuff out there.

I loved Saphirre and Steel - it confused the hell out of me, but I felt my intelligence rising just watching it (I always had a soft spot for David McCullam in my youth, even if I can't spell his name).
Blake 7 was also very original, having the supposed good guys be criminals and a bit sinister, in a time when Star Trek commaraderie ruled the day.

But alas the Beeb or whoever never really had the money to give the shows the flash look that can be accomplished across the pond. Fortunately the American networks have started experimenting a bit more, even if they then decide to cancel the program just as I start watching *cough* Farscape *cough*.

I don't mean to sound anti-American sci-fi, I've watched and enjoyed a lot of it, but if you leave the big programming decisions to networks whose only interest is he almighty dollar, you're going to miss a lot of opportunities for something fresh and imaginative.

But it's a sad thing to have to say, but people seem to prefer gloss over content - so pretty spaceships and pretty crewmembers get to go into syndication and complicated and intelligent plot and characterisation gets discarded or cancelled.

Hmm, I've gone unusually cynical.

Does anyone remember Star Cops? It only ran for one season in the eighties and had very unimaginative sets, but the political intrigue was interesting (albeit dated, with the end of the cold war)

Okay, Michael's right, I do suffer from darksider babble syndrom

The Challenge
Hmmm, how about Anya and Willow caught in a house with the sound of scratching coming from the chimney pot? Is it Santa about to pay a visit? D'Hoffran looking for payback? Xander in a red fluffy suit?

Or for full horror value, Riley making a permanent return

The possibilities are endless

Re: Blake's Seven
Aah the sway of scenery and the sound of leaden dialogue. It all comes back, and those really pathetic little guns that looked like a Woolworth's Christmas tree decoration. I loved B7 and I had my first really huge crush on the lead actresses. Jenna/Cally were certainly the first pairing where I started looking for subtext (not that I knew what subtext was).

I never really forgave the writers for destroying the Liberator which viewed through half-closed eyes and a lot of imagination was quite a cool ship!

Caro.

Don't mention Farscape as I am in total denial about the whole sorry business.:(

Re: The Challenge
Yeah. Anya and Willow alone in the dark, a wild snowy night (unnatural in Sunnyhell) and a rotting zombie Riley roaming outside. (I was going to say vampire Riley but that is a shade too cool for the lumpen one.) Inside the house an ancient evil stirs .... yep it's Dawnie the brat from whatever. They have to escape! But how and where?

Did you have to mention the death of the Liberator? My Zen mourning has been revived ... I loved that emotionless little bundle of light and deep voice ... sniff.

Actually I was always looking for signs of Avon/Cally - during the dark pre-teen years when f/f subtext flew over my head.

Also my one brush with sci-fi fame was watching B7 being filmed at the beeb ... yep, I witnessed the Liberator ;)

Farscape
Now I've only recently started watching this show, but why hasn't there been any Chiana/Sikozu fanfic? I know Sikozu is new, but there is just something about those two. The friction and misunderstandings are the things great fanfics are made from.

They're cute too :)

So, where can I find a good writer (not otherwise occupied) to write this kind of story? I'm willing to offer chocolate.

RalSt

You can open your eyes now Caro...sorry.

Re: Riley
Yeah I could say that Anya could bore him to death.

As we are talking about Mr 2d action hero, Anya would have to find a personality to bore to death.

No the only people that should Buffy heart are Angle, (we know that an't goona happen), or a certain reformed dark haired slayer.

I would put my money on Faith anyday.

Re: Riley
Are you saying that Anya's boring? Do I have to take you outside and wipe that smirk from your face?

Anya is the coolest, well besides our Will. Redheaded, brushed with evil, cuties are the best :D

As for Buffy, she could end up with a paper bag for all I care, so long as they don't give it too much airtime :rolleyes

Re: Anya
Yeah and I'm backing her up with a large chainsaw. Anya is a great character IMHO. Funny, sweet, wonderfully tactless, and wears her touch of evil lightly, almost innocently. She is a cutie to boot.

Hmm gimme Faith anyday...

Anya...blegh, I like her for comical value only sorry (Don;t kill me :\ )

As for Faith!!!!! Yeah! Though I heard both she and Buffy will die in the season-finale of Buffy waaaaah :rolleyes

Riley...ack, I think that must've been the worst character on the show at all times, Even Oz as a Werewolf was more interesting to watch then Chuckles' twin. (hey now THERE's an idea.)

Beam over Chuckles to the 21 century, give him some fake teeth and plant him on a fresh grave in the middle of Sunnydale...muahaha.
