Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle.
These saddles are being advertized in The Trail Rider Magazine and seem to be very affordable. I have never used a synthetic type before. Looks like cost w/shipping is 485.00
DOES ANYONE have any experience with these saddles. Thank you in advance for any help. Bev

Re: Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle.
There are realy no "magic" gaited horse saddles even among gaited breeds the comformation for each horse is differant . I think the fabtrom saddle is on the same tree as the tenneesean that national bridle sells and like most ridiged tree saddles it works for some horses the big diffeances if that tree is the flair in the front of the bars to give more room for the sholders to move . I like a flexable tree saddle that will give more with your horses movements . everyone is comming out with a "gaited horse saddle" it seems but like shoes one size dosent fit all. the problem i had with that tree was there was too much rock in the bars (picture a rocking horse) for my flat backed horses . I have the imus saddle now and it dose awsome on 3 of my horses but on the rounder barreled horse the bars are too steep just giveing a little more preshure low just behind the withers so on that horse im going to use len browns corrector pad to elievate that .
good luck on your quest keep us posted

Re: Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle.
thanks for the info. I have a flex tree circle y saddle and it has a square skirt - too long for my new horse's short back
I love reading the ad's in magazines and I checked the info and it seem like a good price for saddle with a lot of good qualities. Money is tight BUT I do not want to scrimp on my saddle - i care about my horses back and comfort- I am just not sure about a saddle that is not all leather and just wanted to know how they have held up for others. I also found some good prices @ Libertyville Saddle and just like to get input from people who may own the product. I know ea horse is different :)
Looking forward to hearing from someone who may own one.
thanks

Re: Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle.
I have a Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle. It is a very balanced saddle and comfortable for me. However, my idiot gelding grew AGAIN over the winter, and it does not fit him anymore. It does fit the old body style Quarter Horse that I have for nieces/nephews to ride, so I am keeping it.
I HIGHLY recommend that you do a wither tracing and fax it to the company for comment before you buy ANY saddle of ANY brand. Think of it like Levi's--they must have 100 different sizes/styles because people come in 100's of different sizes. Same for horses. There is a LOT of variety of size and shape even within a breed. Just because a saddle fits ONE TWH does not mean it will fit the next one.

Re: Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle.
I can't say anything specific about the Fabtron saddle or its tree, but I do own a Big Horn cordura saddle and overall I'm happy with it. It's very light weight (especially for a 17" seat western). It has square skirts which I normally wouldn't want for my short backed horse, but since the skirt is fabric and as flexible as a blanket, It really doesn't matter. I've had it three years and used it maybe 100 rides. So far, the cordura nylon fenders and skirts show no signs of wear. I just wipe them off with a damp rag as needed. The seat is suede so I just brush it off too. The tree has a ten year warranty. It cost me about $400 new.

As for negatives, you can't seam to "set" the twist of the stirrups on a cordura fender like you can a leather fender. And I did replace the nylon latigo with a leather one because the nylon tended to loosen up too easily.

Re: Fabtron Gaited Horse Trail Saddle.
Carrie thanks for the info, i had a chance to ride in the fabrton tennessean gaited saddle twice this past weekend for about 3 hrs each. it was a nice ride and i really enjoyed my ride in it. i found it a nationial bridle and went ahead and ordered it at 499.00, they told me they are out of stock til 8/15, sure hope they are right. I am lucky i was able to borrow one to try first. It was a couple of years old and looked like it was in great condition and i did not see wear under the skirts of fenders, anyway I think I am satisfied and it was nice not to worry too much about the rain. happy riding bev
