is undeniably the toughest conference that the NAIA has ever seen in womens basketball. Last years sweep of the final four was unprecedented for any conference in any division in history. In mens basketball I think that the Gpac is by far the most under-rated conference in the nation, Northwestern (who usually loses 4-5 conference games a year) has won the national title two out of the last three years, yet hardly any other Gpac schools get any respect in the polls. Concordia's (Neb.)run to the elite 8 of the national tournament last year proved that the "other Gpac teams" are for real and should be recognized as formitable opponents. Let's admit it, it's pretty bogus when the national champion can't even make it to the finals of their conference tournament and no other team in their conference is even rated. Come on guys, start to recognize that the Gpac is a super conference in Men's basketball as well as womens.

Time for some hoops Its that time of year again. With both CU teams opening their season tonight it is time to start talking smack. I think the CU women have the talent to be nearly as good as last year. Everyone is older and more mature as players. While some key players were lost it really effects depth more than anything. Hopefully, the top seven or eight are still in good shape from the "Fitness Nazi" from two years ago and will be able to play most of the game for the Dawgs. The men may have an entirely new style this year with a new PG with a very different style than the always reliable Drew Olson in Anthony Elias. Dietz is going to score, inside or out. With lots of new faces needing to step up look for the Dawgs to surprise everyone either way. Overall, I expect no worse than 3rd by either team and at least one regular season or tourney championship between them. There is no denying that this is the best women's conference in the nation. The men have the same problem that GPAC football has. Too many teams on the bubble of being really good. They all beat each other and make it look bad. P.S. the best part about basketball season is that CU always dominates the prairiewolves. |

The women did as everyone thought they would and won big. I saw the end of the first half and the rest of the men's game and they struggled at times and beat a much improved York team in overtime. Big shot by Elias to send it to OT and Dietze owned YC early in the OT. Dietze with 38, told ya. |

watch out for the tigers of Dakota Wesleyan. the women return all but one and look to improve off the second place finish at the tourney. the men are improved and if can stay healthy will push for a top spot in the gpac |

How do you guys think Mount Marty will do this year in men's? They just played Dakota State last night, and beat them by 9, but it was a tie game with about 3 to go. Just seeing what you think about Mount Marty. |

Mount Marty is a good team, but stop the big fella in the middle and i think they are done. Great GPAC school, but don't have the talent to go all the way. |

After watching the Briar Cliff men play @ CU yesterday I would hope that any of you currently on the BCU banwagon are preparing yourselves for the jump off. CU did not play well and won a game that was not as close at the score looks. Was that Emenem's cousin with the tatoo of Drew Carey on his arm bombing those 23 ft. two handed shots for BCU? If #4 is 5'6" then BCU is going to run the table and win the national title. If #55's game was half the size of his pipes he might be the most valuable player in the GPAC. Maybe he should spend more time working on his game and less time doing curls and tricep extensions. Both the teams are in 3rd and Dietze is 'dropin 'em like I said he would. I think the girls will continue to get better as they are still learning to play together this year. The women handled BCU too and Voss put the bench in pretty earlier. Go Dawgs. |

The GPAC championship is going to have to go through the north section again, just like the football championship. Northwestern, USF, MMC, Dordt will be every south team they face. I would even put up DWU against any south team the way they have been playing lately. It's a shame that the north teams have to play each other twice and give eachother losses when they could run theough the south division easily. Oh well, they say the GPAC is a super confernce, let it be.

All the north has are Northwestern and Sioux Falls. At this point facts are facts. North record in conference play: 24-21 .875. South record in conference play: 18-16 .88. With no teams having met twice yet (at least non that I noticed) it seems to me that regions are pretty even. You guys up north have been standing out in the cold too long. No matter what you think that your $%!@ don't stink. Get a clue. |

A great night for GPAC basketball in Sioux Falls. The place was packed and saw a great offensive women's game (90-86 Coo) both teams shot around 45% from the floor and three. The men's game saw #17 USF knock off #5 Northwestern in OT, 66-64. The win ended the Raiders 27-game conf. win streak. Bubba a.ka. JD Roberts, the beast in the middle, had 17 points and 17 rebounds in the win. The Coo showed they are a complete team and Esselink doesn't need to be the leading scorer every night. Look for both teams to move it on up in the rankings. Great wins |

Dudes you lost to Doane. Get a clue. They did it with their best player Jakubowski not even at 100%. That is a joke. The conference won't go through the North if you lose to mediocre teams like Doane especially when they even lost their best player ever, in Wiese(he was the most dominant player in the conference last year). So keep talkin, Coo. Football is all you have |

The Conference race will go through the North alright, just not through Sioux Falls. Two game cusion for the Red Raiders. As for USF losing to Doane, anyone with the possible exception Briar Cliff, can beat anyone, especially on their home floor. |

NWRed what happened to your boys yesterday in Seward? Looks like the frigid cold of the last few weeks has gotten you guys up north. Like I've said before, the two "divisions" of the GPAC are fairly well balanced. My ladies hit a road bump, but both teams have been playing much improved the last two weeks. Go Dawgs!!! |

Just like I said, anybody can beat anybody, especially on their home floor. My hat is off to the Dawgs, they played a great game. The Title will still come through Orange City. |

How is the Hastings mens team that bad? They play in a mini Deveney center, can't they get anyone worth a crap to play there? Ok, maybe it is more like a miniature of UNK's facility, but you get the point. If Stucky tries out for the mens team next year and makes it (which she would) does she get 4 more years of eligibility? Just a thought for all you Bronco fans out there. Hopefully our women will pick up tonight where the men left off last night. |

it is true that USF women's team has had injury...but they have done very well in overcoming them this year...people too soon forget that the team went to final four last year...even after being down by over 20pts at half time of their first game at nationals last year. Whoever wrote that comment is incredibly rude, not to mention forgetfull. USF has great talent on the floor. And that so called 'lack of coaching' got them to final four last year, and the team only graduated 2 girls last year...the team is experienced, and has a history of a winning program that these young women plan to continue. Injuries may have gotten them down...but after having huge wins against teams like Hastings this season, i would hardly say that anything was handed to them on a silver platter...shinning or not. |

Wow, those Nebraska schools really took it to the conf. like they said they were. I think all the Northern side schools can agree w/ thanks for playing. NWU, Morningside and USF as the top 3 teams in the conference this year clearly proves where the power in the league is. Oh and Coo girl, be quiet next time. |
