Galley Flavel 8700 C
On our Nic.31 still is the old galley, the Flavel 8700 C.
But it is not safe enough we think, because it doesn´t have the thermic safety etc.
Is there a member who renewed this galley already and wich product is choosen then?
Suggestion are welcom. Kind regards from

Sorry, I cannot be much help as our Nic 31 still has the original Flavel as well. I believe we have replaced the pipework at the rear, but our Skipper might be able to chip in here to clarify.

All I did was replace the flexible pipe at the rear. The cooker is original but seems to work fine with care. We do have gas sniffer fitted though!

We replaced our Flavel with a Nelson spinflo and are well pleased with it. It fits very easily with some adjustment of the position of the gimbles on the body of the cooker.
The cooker is stainless steel, has a good oven and is easy to keep clean. As Rosemary is a good cook, even in strong winds and lumpy seas, we make full use of it by roasting legs of lamb etc and have had no problems. There was a report on cookers a couple of years ago in Yachting Monthly or PBO that recommended it.

Stoves
The beauty of the old Flavel was that in addition to the oven and the 2 burners was that it had the broiler function ( toast, burgers etc.). Is there a replacement stove with all 3 functions available out there?

Re: Stoves
All the cookers in UK have the three functions ,as Brits generally have a great fondness for toast; the tests carried out by the sailing magazine included a 'toast test', which was won by a large margin by the Nelson Spinflo.

"The Spinflo Nelson is made as a replacement marine cooker to fit in the as space as the Flavel Vanessa that was a popular cooker fitted in many boats in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s."
Re: Galley Flavel 8700 C
I have looked very carefully at the available options, and came to the conclusion that in order to have a safe setup for a propane/butane stove, I would have to change all the copper tubing running around the cockpit coamings. In addition, the space for the bottle in the cokpit locker does not allow for a bottle larger than 3.5 kg. And where do I store the required spare bottles?
I was very worried as well by the potential risk of gas flowing down to the keel well.
The cooker selected to replace the original Flavel is a two burner and oven paraffin cooker from Bertschi (Switzerland) www.bertschi-petrol.ch/
Beautiful piece made of stainless steel. It will be installed shortly, and the 4 gallon tank will be located way down below, underneath the kitchen.
