Geographic location?
Boy, it IS quiet in here...I'm going to pass this site along to some of my fellow US fans that I know.

Anyways, I'll hang around for awhile and see who posts on here. I'm curious, where the majority of those who use this forum are located, in the UK, US, what? I myself am in Virginia, USA. I have been fortunate enough to see the band 3 times, all in the Hogarth era. Even got back stage passes and partied with them once. Lots of pictures and autographs! I have some good stories from that one...

I would love to see Fish, but it looks like I will have to travel across the pond if I ever fill that goal!

Its amazing to see the videos, etc, where Marillion play for thousands of people, and when they tour over here it is in tiny clubs and bars. Needless to say, it is to a devoted and thrilled audience, but I suspect the ambiance at such a show is far different than at one of their big shows in Europe.

So, am I in the company of an international group here, or what?

yos,

Steve Haden

Re: Geographic location?
Hi Steve :D

You're right... it's very quiet in here!

I'm from the north of England and I've been lucky enough to see Marillion with both vocalists but to be honest I have no real preferences regarding Fish and h.
I also like the solo stuff from the big man and I've seen him a few times.
Unfortunately even here in Europe Marillion are playing smaller venues than they used to just a few years ago but things seem to be on the up for them now, so maybe a return to bigger venues isn't that far away.... here's hoping :)
I always feel guilty that Marillion are available to European audiences on a regular basis and yet you loyal fans in North America never get the chance to see them, the band really should make more of an effort to cross the pond and see you guys.
Keep the faith and I'll catch ya later.

Re: Geographic location?
Hi Steve,

Welcome to this forum, it's still a small crowd here. I am from the Netherlands. I have seen Marillion about 10 times live, last show was the This Strange Engine Tour. First Time 1987 with Fish during the Clutching at Straws tour. I love both era's. Also seen Fish solo, his shows are more party's than concerts, but I think he now does a little too much talking during his shows. But he is a great entertainer.

Unfortunately, i have never seen Marillion (I'm only 16 :( , and i've only got into them in the last year). I'm in the UK, pretty near to London. I'll be seeing them sometime though, mark my words. I've got all the Fish Era albums(courtesy of my Dad), all on vinyl (apart from C@S). I recently got introduced to H era (thanks to the guys here), and i love it. I'm hopefully getting a copy of Anoraknophobia for my birthday :D )

Nice to see someone else here!

If you've only got the albums on vinyl, now is the time to get them all over again as 2 CD remasters, this will give you also all the 12" tracks, demo's and out-takes. With some tracks that were to be the follow-up album with Fish after Cltuching.

Yeah... make sure you get the 2cd CAS if only for the brilliant previously unheard Exile On Princes Street.... Classic Marillion :)

Re: :(
Next best thing is the Afraid of SUnlight remaster, the piano-vocal bit by Steve Hogarth on "Afraid of Sunlight" and the new piece "Mirages"

Re: Remasters
The remastered are all 2 CD versions, available:
Script, Fugazi, Misplaced, Clutching, Real2reel/Brief Encounter, Seasons End, Holidays in Eden, Brave and Afraid of Sunlight. All with an additional disc filled with all non-album tracks (no live versions) demo versions, and outtakes.
Look at the back of the CD, for tracklisting if it has a bonus disc. The should be available in any CD-shop. If not you can always order them at marillion.com. The are also released in the USA as far as I know.

Re: Remasters
Hi,

I got many of my 2cd remasters on either e-Bay or half.com. I paid less than $15US for eachl of them, some less than $10. I suppose international shipping would be abit more, but than again most Marillion items on e-Bay are already in Europe anyways.

Re: Remasters
Hi there,

I just stumbled across this forum and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 22 and go to university in Birmingham (UK) but hail from Hertfordshire originally. I've recently been getting into Marillion (mainly Fish era) and can't stop listening to them.

Favourite song at the moment: Assassing.

Obsolutely excellent.

Take care, and hope it picks up in here!

Matthew
