Getting prints made
Hi, I'm very new to this webring but have been very impressed by the work I've seen so far. I've just recently started doing portrait sketches and will have a scanner next week and hopefully a website soon to link up. I've had several people ask for prints of my celebrity sketches and I hate to sound stupid but how do I get prints made? Is this done at a lithographer? Also, any idea as to what the cost of this is?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Re: Getting prints made
Sorry, I just assume everyone lives in the United States. I forget how big the WWW is... ;) Definitely in the U.S. To be more exact, in Minnesota if that helps any. I've been reading the discussions about copyrights and had to re-think my game plan here as I didn't realize I might be infringing (sp?) on those by selling celeb pics. I'll just be using them as examples in my website (which, hopefully, will be up and running tomorrow). I've been having copies made at a print shop using their color copier and they look just like originals! I don't know if I'll be needing more than that now as I'll only be selling commissioned portraits.

P.S. You have a great website here!

I just recently figured out how myself.
There's a process out there called "Giclee". It's basically the same thing as your normal inkjet printer, but they can do it on a larger scale and on canvas, watercolor paper, anything you want! Some places do it by mail, and you can even send them scanned or digitally photographed work, and they can print it out. Some sites are:

www.efineartonline.com/giclee-printing.html
www.maui.net/~coast/Giclee_Print.HTML
www.art-to-prints.com/giclee_printing.htm
www.GicleeArt.com/fineart_repro.htm

Also, I don't know how large your artwork is, but I've moved up to 18"x24" bristol paper, and it's a pain in the butt to scan. So, I went out and bought a digital camera and a tripod. It's probably the best investment I've ever made.

Hope that helps.

Hayden
