Gone Bit-less!
I had been having head ache after head ache trying to figure out what was the best bit for my boy. As I have stated in other posts, he did fine in an enclosed arena, but was hell bent for glory in an open field. I had finally had enough, when it was suggested by a stranger that I use a side pull on him with no bit. I thought this lady was just as cracked as I was. But, willing to try anything short of me wearing the bit, I did as she suggested. Good God it worked! The pressure is now on the nose and out of his mouth and since it would take me forever to get him to open his mouth for the bit anyways, I'm now able to slip on the bridle and we are off enjoying the view from somewhere other than the arena. I realize this may not be "the key" for everyone with similar issues to bits, but it was our key!
