Good Book A good book to read for Home Economics is Mrs. Dunwoody's Excellent Instructions for Homekeeping / Timeless Wisdom and Practical Advice, by Miriam Lukken. It has wonderful advice on topics from Decorating to Pest Control to Dinner Parties (well I wouldn't use that chapter!). It is based on an old notebook of a real lady (Mrs. Dunwoody, I believe). I found it for $20-30, I think...though I am not sure. |

Re: Good Book
Mrs Dunwoody is a wonderful book !! We read a review of it in 'Southern Lady' magazine and then someone at LAF (where Mommy posts) recommended it.It is actually not based on one notebook, but on various 'receipt books' from the 1800s (of Southern ladies
).Mrs Dunwoody herself is a fictional character based on and named for the authoress' grandmother.Another Southern belle, Emma |
