Got too much time on my hands today so.....
I was thinking. In your opinion, if 'the all is one' are we all interconnected dots of energy? and therefore shoudn't it be devastating if even just one person dies? Sounds like chaos theory a bit I suppose (as I've been led to understand it), but are we part of the fabric of energy that makes up the universe and surely the death of a person (or for that matter - animal) would be such a sudden and dramatic shift in the location of energy that would it not shae and damage the fabric?
I understand if you don't want to answer this! I'm just off on one that's all.
No not really. I think of it in terms of a massive continuum of energy that is constantly shifting. In death the energy within the person/animal/plant simply returns back into the cosmos as a different form. So on the whole the death of constituent parts doesn't affect the ALL. Energy can neither be created or destroyed, simply transferred from one form to another.

I realise that energy cannot be created or destroyed but just transferred, but what I want to know is what if that transferrence happened very suddenly and violently and on a large scale, like an all-at-one-go mass execution or plane crash, it seems logical to me that such a sudden and violent transferrence or shift of energy would somehow throw things a bit or shake them up.
The state the energy is in does not effect the all, and gradual, natural shifts, like gentle waves in a bathtub made by moving a hand in the water, will not cause too much of a dramatic effect. But if I throw a heavy object into the bathtub with a lot of force, like a brick, the water will splash and fall out of the tub. It's the sudden alteration/shift of so much energy at once that might come from a mass execution which in my mind could be the cosmic equivalent of the brick in the bathtub.

I see what you're saying but your logic fails only in that the bathtub has an exterior. Water can be lost from it. The ALL is the ALL it has no exterior. You can't lose anything from it. What we see as violent changes in energy or matter transfer (nuclear explosions) are all normal processes of change within the ALL. Its all such a large scale that its hard to explain or imagine the concept but these seemingly massive events are but ripples in the fabric of the ALL.

Yes I sort of thought of something like that after I posted the analogy, but couldn't quite put my finger on what wasn't right about it.

Of course i did. Its always refreshing to have sensible arguments once in a while. I'm getting sooo bored of the 'you're wrong' e-mails and the 'you're going to hell' e-mails posts like this remind me that sometimes humanity isn't always stupid.
