Guide to building Disarm Disarm is a highly underrated skill, It is good to use against mobs using fast or hard hitting weapons... and invaluable (and fun) in PVP. The important points are: 1.You can build up your disarm skill against ANY mob 2.You can build disarm on failures 3.You cannot gain skill against unarmed opponents So, go to your nearest newbie zone and find a nearby armed non-agressive mob (pawn or decaying skelly are ideal). Try to disarm him until you succeed, then feign, pick up the weapon and give it back to the mob and continue. (Consider the mob as a training dummy) Using this method I increased disarm at a fantastic rate with no risk at all. Other tips: 1.DO NOT tell people that you have disarmed them during a fight, they will often fight for ages without knowing that they have been disarmed 2. When you are disarmed your weapon drops into your first inventory slot (the top left one). Make a fast access panel for your weapon hand and this slot, so that if you are disarmed in a fight you are only a couple of fast clicks away from being rearmed (ie..you avoid bag searching and usingnthe inventory screen mid-fight). I hope that you find this guide of some use.. it may be totally obvious to most people, but Im certain that at least one more monk will discover the fun of disarm through reading this. |

Re: Guide to building Disarm
You can raise skill even faster by trying to disarm a pet with a weapon.
So find a nice necro or mage friend, get them to summon a pet, hand it a weapon, then just stand there raising skill. You will not succeed, and the pet doesnt agro on you, but you will still gain skill. Zadkiel.

Re: Guide to building Disarm I went from 1 to 140 in three hours. The first 100 points I got in West Commonlands by handing a bixie an orc pick and repeatedly disarming/feign & pick up/hand it back. Had to keep running after the bixie after each successful disarm/feign, until it reached a stopping place. Finished the next 40 points in Befallen against various skeletons while waiting for Priest Amiaz to show up so I could get the wand for the red sash quest. Zinj |

Re: AHA ! also need to be careful when prcticing on summoned pets. if that caster and pet engage in battle and you try to disarm it while it is fighting, it will turn and attack you and will continue to attack you till the master calls the pet back to sit or back tot he original target Gokar |

Re: Guide to building Disarm w/Hotkeys With the additions of multiline hotkeys you can now practice several skills at once. I spent about 2 hours at level 27 practicing Disarm, Feign, and Beg on a skeleton in one of the back rooms on the first floor of Befallen. Just give it a rusty weapon. Here is your setup. Right click on any button in the 'Socials' sections. Title it anything you want. Put these in the lines: (note: your numbers will be different) /doability 1 (beg button) /doability 2 (disarm button) /doability 3 (feign button) /sit off Or you can take out the '/sit off' comand and train your Sneak as well. Put these lines before Beg: /doability 4 (sneak button) /doability 4 (sneak button) That is 3 or 4 ability checks with one keystroke. All have the same refresh and your only delay will be picking up the dropped weapons and giving them back to the skeleton. Have fun!! Zephyyr |

disarm location There is an even easier place to practice disarm. Once you have the ability, you will be high enough to not get injured too AND you are at a location where one of your needed heads drop for you sash. Where is this wonderful spot you ask? In S. Karana at the skelly camp south of the bridge. Many of the skellies there weild weapons. Just sit there and disarm them. In a few hours I raised my skill 50-60 levels. Spend a couple of night and you will be a disarm god. Bring bandages and practice mend and us install doubt also. Practice FD if you want. AND remember that a rare spawn occurs right there. Forgot which one it was but if he spawns yell for help, if needed, and take the bastich out and loot the quest item head. You are accomplishing at least 2 if not 4 skill practices and camping at the same time. Can't ask for more but dump the loot which is usually rusty junk. |

Re: disarm location E/W Freeport vs. Guards, rather than handing the weapon back (now impossible, with the changes causing NPCs to no-longer accept non-quest related items) sell it for 1-5pp, and move on to the next guard. if your afction is dubious or better, all you need to do is FD to clear agro. If yuou have trouble clearing agro with FD, then just feign hop to the zone. You have gotten better at Disarm! (200) |
