Spent 9 or 10 hours reading, and i am still in shock. Thankfully Harry was less of a whiney little git...and we have gained some very handy information that will help with our characters.
* Slughorn was Potions teacher during MWPP's school years.
* Lily was skilled at Potions as well as charms - and a favourite of Slughorns, which probably means she was in the Slug-Club too.
* Severus is a half-blood, and referred to himself as 'The Half-Blood Prince' - proud of his mothers Pure-Blood status it's a play on her maiden name. His mother was a witch, Eileen Prince, and his father was a muggle by the name of Tobias Snape.
* Severus's favourite subject was DADA, not Potions...however, he obviously enjoyed Potions, and had a knack for it.
* 6th and 7th year students do NOT say incantations aloud. They may practice them aloud at first, but are mostly expected to use non-verbal spells.
* James and Sirius got detention for using illegal hexes on unsuspecting students...like Bertrum Aubrey.
* It is possible for more gifted students to create their own spells....it's probably illegal, since they're not ministry approved....but it is possible. Levicorpus was one such spell, and during MWPP's time it was highly popular...Remus reminices that there was a month or two in 5th year when "you couldn't move for being hoisted into the air by your ankle"
* MWPP refer to Remus's condition as his 'Furry little problem' when in the company of those who don't know about his lycanthropey....a lot of people seemed to think Remus had a badly behaved rabbit.
* Patronuses can change if a person goes through an emotional upheaval or a great shock.
* Narcissa Black is called 'Cissy' by her family.
* Voldemort will take unqualified wizards (school age) as Death Eaters if he needs to....he also alligns himself with all sorts of people/creatures to win his war, despite most Pure-Bloods idea that these kind of people are worse than Muggle and Mudbloods.
* Voldemort and indeed, Dark Magic users can animate the dead like puppets...they can use the corpses to do their dirty work or even to guard things. Animated dead are called Inferi. It's serious Dark Magic.
and for later:
* Reg died only days after backing out of the Death Eaters
* Remus is probably working as a spy for Werewolves in the first fight against Voldemort. At some point, he finds out which Werewolf bit him...and why. Lupins father offended Greyback, and the payback was turning young Remus into a monster.
* The Order get taught how to use their Patronuses to communicate with each other and send messages.
* Andromeda runs off with Muggle-born Ted Tonks (and gives birth to a bitch named Nymphadora sorry...i refuse to 'ship Remus/Tonks. I'm a Remus/Sirius 'shipper to the end )
That was my word and one-syllable description after reading it - Wow. I just didn't have another word for it. I was hooked until I finished it at 5 this morning. Do you have any idea who R.A.B. could be?

oooooh.......brainwave....Regulus! Regulus A. Black!!! *goes to flick through OoTP to see if there was a Middle name for Reggie* Only...he backed out of being a death eater - he knew he would be found and killed, so maybe he intended to do something noble before he was killed?

Unlucky me couldnt get to a shop at all till Sunday ... then spent the time with one of my friends ovcer here, desperate to get back and start reading :P. Starrted Sunday night, had to work lots yesterday and today, but finished it this afternoon.
V. concise Dru-bee, heh heh. My immediate thought on reading it was that RAB was Regulus Black and I was shouting it at the screen as you puzzled through it in your post, lol. Thats what he was killed for, I reckon :P ...Voldy found out ....
OMG though .... Dumbledore dying ..... Well I had the US version and read all the titles of the chapters on the first page ... When I saw the last chapter was called something like 'The White Tomb' ... I knew it was going to be Dumblers dying ... he's the epitome of good in the HP books and White is the symbol of good and innocent. CAN'T BELIEVE SNAPE though!!!!! Such a great twist at the end ...
Overall, I was soooo impressed with this book. Sooo much better than OotP, cos I was gripped the whole way through ... and what did you guys think of the Hermy/Ron and the Harry/Ginny stuff too??? I kept laughing out loud, crying (when Dumblers died ... and no, I didn't when Siri died ...) and gasping in shock ... like when Dumblers said 'Slughorn is professor of Potions ....' I was just like '...whattttt?????' Sooo much fun!
I'm actually goign to re-read staright away so I can discuss more with you guys when I get back to the UK (2 weeks time ... arrive back on August 2nd). I'm DESPERATE to RP again ...

HAHA! When I fininished the book @ 5 AM, the thought of Reggie immediately came to me due to my lack of sleep. The idea hit me in the face... that and my almost running into a wall at that almost same moment haha, but I just wanted to see what y'all thought. I do hope it was Regulus, though it could be come random guy JK just created but I doubt it. Also in Book 5 they mention a necklace unable to be locked in the chaper wth Kreacher in it.... bet that's the same necklace! I g2g but I'll ttyl! Buh~bye

I'm probably the only one to have sympathies for Severus...He did what he had to do. If it had just been him, Draco and Dumbledore i suspect he would have let himself be killed by the unbreakable vow to let Dumbledore live....however, Dumbledore was a dead man as soon as the other Death Eaters got into the room. Severus, i suspect, knew that...and so instead of breaking the vow and getting himself killed, AND having Dumbledore killed, he chose to spare Dumbledore a horrific drawn out death and end his life with a simple killing curse. This way, Dumbledore did not suffer and Severus lived instead of dying pointlessly.
Plus...well, Sevs job was not to protect Dumbledore was it? His job is to help bring down Voldemort by any means necessary. And he saved Harry at the end, after trying to teach the idiot that to hurt a Death Eater, you have to use non-verbal spells.
I could be wrong however...but my impression was that he was only doing what he had to do...that he's not evil-evil.
And...did anyone else think that maybe Dumbledore was not Dumbledore. In the chapter where they go after the necklace, he exclaims 'Oho!' ...which doesn't strike me as a Dumbledore thing. In fact, i'm pretty sure that only Slughorn uses that expression. There was Polyjuice potion still at Hogwarts that Slughorn brewed himself...what if he'd taken it and took Dumbledores place that night. He would still know what Tom Riddles spell-trace was like, as he taught Riddle too.
But...thats about as far as it makes sense. I dont know WHY they would switch places, or how the body could be made to look like Dumbledore after death. *shrugs* just an odd musing anyway.

Only you could feel sorry for our Sevvie Dru-bee, lol. And great theory about Polyjuice potion and Slughorn .... . Can't wait till I get back home and we can start RP'ing again ... we can start again right ??? *pokeses Dru*. My other HP RPG has changed to a 'Lost' RPG and I am soooo far behind and don't like it ... I needdddddd some Marauder action!! Especially with all these new developments *big grins*

lmao *glomps Sev* ah, he's a sweetie really....uh...somewhere underneath all the death-eater garb and bad temper.
And yes hun, we'll get the RP started again soon...i was hoping to get EZboard back on its feet first....but it seems they've swallowed everything...and i didnt back up all my profiles I'll have to re-do some which could take a lil while.

I don't Sev is all thaaat bad. I mean, I do, but I have a feeling perhaps he'll come around to the good side. You have NO idea how much I want to start RPing again... I just got my wisdom teeth out and I NEED something to get my mind off it... Have a safe trip home Mel!
