Has anyone heard of the 13 steps to hell?
I heard a story about a place in wa, maybe a cemetery, that has a story about the 13 steps to hell. Theres supposed to be a doorway somewhere that have 13 steps that go down and with each step you take, the doorway gets smaller. People that have gone all the way down never came out. I heard this place is really haunted. I was wondering if any one else has heard of this and if so, where could I get more information on it?
Hey there, yep, I've heard of the 13 steps to Hell. They are in connection with Maltby Cemetery, located in Duvall, WA. This is a privately owned cemetery in someone's backyard. We have not been able to get permission to conduct an investigation there yet, but the cemetery does seem to have a dark history. I did come across a statement in the Snohomish Tribune a year ago, when a group of students at my college were doing a video project on Maltby. The article revealed that the body of a young girl who had gone missing for a month back in 1970, was found in that cemetery. Perhaps, she's one of its ghosts. I've been trying to do some research on the 13 steps and the cemetery, but haven't come up with anything but rumored history. Let us know if you do find anything! Thanks!

If you guys are still looking for info on the 13 steps of hell, Ive been there. Some friends and I snuck in there one night. We had heard all the storys so we decided to go. We were partying and you could here little kids laughing all around the place. We were chased out by some freaky guy with a shovel. We are going back in a couple of weeks. As far as I know, Maltby Cemetary is on Paradise Lake Rd. which is not in duvall, but in Maltby/Snohomish. Closer to Woodinville. The property is partialy privatly owned and maintained by "2feathers", who privatly owns 2 or 3 pure wolves. I may be wrong, I may have heard false information. I have not been on the cemetary personally. But I have met 2feathers. He drives a ford pickup with paw print decals on the front fenders. Nice guy, realy knowledgable and kind. But he doesn't apreciate trespassers. I've also heard rumors that there is another Maltby Cemetary... the real one, and it actually has 13 steps... however, the person I heard it from would not actually relese that info.
and nichole... let me know when you want to go up... if you don't mind a few more people going...
and... there's more paranormal activity at the stosel creek logging roads.
oh i almost forgot
last fall one of 2feathers wolves ran off and brought back a human bone... the police investigated it and found that it belonged to a missing person from a few years back... they may have found more bodies since then... more than likely someone was dumping bodies in that area for quite a while so i wouldn't be supprised if most of that wooded area there is slightly haunted from those folks that were murdered and left there...

13 steps to hell is located in Maltby, Wa. STAY AWAY!!! it is in the town cemetary. the steps are now blocked off but b4 that, if u walked down the steps, u wood never come back out. teenagers started disappearing, and deathes occured. they blocked off the stairs and it stopped. my friends and i went to Maltby looking for the 13 steps to hell. we were told to stay away from there. we were told wat i am telling u. do not go there! it is dangerous, it is not a joke, it is seriously dangerous and deadly. everyone who reads this, i recommend that u stay away from there!!!!!!!! sincerely, ~emily~

Thanks for the warning, I am not a very good listener though. I have been to what is supposed to be maltby. i wasn't driving so I don't have directions, but it was lame. There were no headstones left and no 13 steps. Does anyone know where the real Maltby Cemetary is? The more hidden one?
...Oh and you were lucky the guy had a shovel, My friends ran into him and he had a shotgun ...or so they tell me. They were in a different car.

I am still trying to find them. But I can't find any info on the internet. I guess I will have to go down the street to Maltby and try and ask around about them.

I've been there several DOZEN times over the past 15 years. I can safely say there are no 13 steps, no mysterious albino groundskeeper (as was a part of the old legend I had heard), no old woman with two children wearing tattered clothing, no secret catacombs (another part of the old myth) - no mysterious antics whatsoever.
What I found was simply an old family plot that in the last few years has been kept up quite nicely. The only "supernatural" experiences I've come across (weird noises, strange sites) were the ones I made up in my head from fear. Once I lost the fear of the place, there was nothing strange to be had...

nicole, did you go to the one that i've heard about on paradise lake road?
i've heard conflicting stories about where the cemetery is located. a couple of friends and i were driving around late last night trying to find it, going by a friend's recollections of five years ago or so... after looking up and down maltby road, and briefly on paradise lake road, we had no luck. will you please enlighten me?!

okay- i know how to get to the one off of paradise lake rd. I don't a cross street but it is probably five minutes up the road. you'll see a hill with a few nice houses at the bottom and off to the left will be a turn around. park there and you will see a trail. follow the trail up and you'll end up in someone's yard. The house will be on the right and the cemetary on the left. I've been there a few times and nothing happend. although, some of my friends had described a completly different cemetary off in the wood that they won't take me to. They never want to go there again.
Maltby Cemetery
My friend Nichole lured me to the Maltby Cemetery earlier this year. We went during the day, and found no 13 Steps. For the sake of adding to the myth, I will mention that there are a couple of unusual concrete slabs that look as though they have been there for years, perhaps they are covering something??? Maltby Cemetary
The cement slabs are there to cover the 13 steps to hell. There are other slabs covering firepits that satanic cults dug to worship and sacrifice at. There is a ghost of a grounds keeper, there are families & women & children's ghosts who haunt the place. You would too if the city dug up your final resting place just so that they could build a housing complex. Although many of the stories have been exagerated over the years, everything starts with a truth. It was a family cemetary and many bad things happened to the family and friends of the family over their existence. Not to mention grave robbings and the city moving them? Like I said, wouldn't that upset you? There is no doubt in my mind that the spirits are confused and angry and do not know what to do.

Ive been there more than once but let me tell you in the end your life will be changed....me and my friends decided to have a small camp out there drinking and games trying to be spooky but of course something happened we were at first just teasing one another but before we knew it one of my friends started to bleed then another one comes running over to us yelling get the hell out of here! i wonder why i look back to see a man chasing us we make it back safely but when we go back in the morning to gather are things everything had vanished nothing was there to be seen it was like we were never there!

Im claimed to be dead now writing to you, everyone thinks the night we went there i had died they claimed i was killed but if that was to happen than how am i writing to you know? We went to this place called the 13 steps to hell in washington it had so many tales so of course i couldnt wait! Im curious and opened minded and id love to party me and nine friends went up one night just for the fun of it, we went exploring i got seperated from my friend some how i was in this back yard searching around for something that just didnt seem real and then i saw them stair that lead down there were kinda fallin apart holes underneath them but at a quick glance they disappeared i searched for my friend no where to be found they said i was dead when they saw me but some how the next day it all seemed a dream, i had left my body and visited this place in the back yard of the old house that looks over the 13 steps of hell be carefull dont say u havent been warned in the end each person will pay for each disturbing present!

The Woods
I tried everything to get into that cemetary. I did not want those dog's to eat me alive so we went trampling through the wood's we finally made it. I had to pee sooo bad and squated down and peed this horific smell was just unreal it smelled like rotting flesh or something. As I was doing my thing I stepped on this slippery plastic bag it felt like it had some hard objects in it,maybe bones or something?? Well the smell stayed on me, My friend also went and peed and got sick from the smell so we decided to leave things were not right in there the energy was intense. We get to the car and there was blood all over my shoe and my friend's shoe. I freaked out started crying so we went to some store around there, and told the guy of what had happened and he just stared at us and said good that's what you get for going to Maltby cemetary and started laughing at us. I swear I will never return. OHHH and I also forgot to say that on the way to the store some car or truck could not figure it out was on our ass you and we were sooo scared, then next thing you know it disappeared!!!! It was a full moon that night what a scare man NEVER AGAIN
Went there today...Don't believe the hype!
Directions I got from the Maltby Cafe were confusing and it took hella long to find it. It is just a half-maintained cemetery with about 30+ markers. Not so scary to be mentioned in the Guiness Bk (1970's top scary places in the US)... Bear Creek Cemetery some 10 miles from there is far more impressive. Anyone know the history behind the 13 steps story? (It's lame) I can't get over how stupid I was to be intimidated by urban legend I think the Indian burial grounds in Eastern WA would be far more interesting but, they are an instant phelony if caught by tribal po's.... Anyone know of anything more scary in this State?

maltby cemetary
well this is great reading all of these stories and how peoples immaginations run wild with them, its amazing what the brain does to you when you scare yourself. I have been to maltby several times to investigate the cemetary even before the houses where built and it was all woods with just a trail leading to it. the people buried in the cemetary are the doolittles and they owned alot of the land up there, they were hard working farmers and so on. they were also very excentric in there way of living and that is why the rumours started that and there have been several animals found in the area mutilated and everyone assumed it had something to do with the cemetary. if there are any ghost in the area it is most likely from the fatal accidents that have happened on the corner that is right below the cemetary. also a few years ago someone decided to rob one of the graves so now it is watched at all times by a caretaker and yes kids are chased out alot because of all the damage and partying they do up there, the cemetary is located up in the reintree property development. but hey the stories that have come about from all of this are good to scare kids with. the bear creek cemetary is definatly alot scarier.
