Help with Rig Dimensions and PHRF
Hi Folks:
Just wondering if anyone has their rig measurements handy? I'm 1500 miles away from my boat and I need to get some measurements for a PHRF application I'm trying to fill out. Has anyone been through this?
I need I and J measurements and the standard mainsail luff, foot, mid-girth and upper-girth dimensions. Apparently the I measurement needs to be taken from "4% of the maximum beam above the deck" to the jib sheave. J is simply from front of mast to base of forestay.
If anyone can help with this, it would be much appreciated. I'm not going down to see the boat for two more months and I'd like to take care of this application before then.
Re: Help with Rig Dimensions and PHRF
Andy,
Thanks, that certainly helps. I still need the mid and upper mainsail girth measurements though so if someone can help with that...
The mid girth measurement is taken by folding the head down to the tack, marking the points on the luff and leach at the fold and measuring between the two. The same thing is done for the upper girth by folding the head down to the mid point of the luff and again measuring between the two points at the fold. If someone happens to have an old main lying around the house and were feeling REALLY bored I suppose they could do this measurement for me. I'd buy you a beer someday, honest!
I may also just guess the measurements using some basic geometry...
