Hi im new here!
Hi people
im so lucky i found this site and finally found other like-minded people. Im very interested in the mesopotamian and sumerian culture and the ancient goddesses, Ishtar and Inanna. I owe it to taking an interest in wicca, as I would never have learned about goddesses if it wasnt for wicca. However, I feel that ive progressed and felt positive change since worshipping Ishtar. The Goddesses RULE!!!! you know, I was driving along the other day, and a man drove down a one way street towards me and honked and shouted at me as if I was in the wrong. And I had to ask myself "so God made man in his image"??? And there is too much patriarchal nonsense these days, starting with the churches.
Many people would frown on me because I dance for customers and receive money as what I call a "sacred servant" rather than the derogatory terms invented over the past thousand years. I give an offering every week in my Ishtar jar in my little "temple" where i worship privately and see my customers. I dont broadcast my leanings openly but I believe Ishtar protects my place. Its adorned with pictures and statues of her and I wear lapis as its her sacred stone. I love the Goddess who has helped me through traumatic times but always protected me in my work.
I love bellydance and arabic style and culture, the older the better. Now, I realise Im not the only one out there!
Love
