Hilux diff center options
The time has come to replace the open Hilux diff in the escort so I can get drive out of the Mallala turn two sweeper. What does anyone in an escort or utilising the hilux conversion suggest would be an acceptable option. Welded center, Mini spool, full spool, Toyota lsd, aftermarket lsd or some sort of locker. What is likely to happen to the handling of the car on any of the options and how do they tend to affect tyre wear.
PS does anyone have one or any for sale or that they want to get rid of??
Thanks

I have two LSD centres for sale if you are looking. I am in Adelaide too.
Poverty has meant that Im only running an injected 2.0 Pinto. Probably have close to a massive 30kw's???!?!?!?
But it will do for testing the car setup and driver and moving it in and out of the garage. Should be good for mid+ 20's (slow)at mallala if I can get power to both wheels exiting some corners, hence the LSD or locker. May start competing properly later this year all being fair and equitable. I would prefer a cheap lsd needing a rebuild but may defer to welding.
If you think one of your lsds will suit call me on 0407 241 271 or reply here. Thanks

Re: Hilux
I wasn't thinking that cheap unless other options are exhausted, I may not have enough power to take advantage of a fully locked diff though. Im lead to believe that a locked diff needs more power to overcome the inherrant understeer characteristics.
Any comment welcomed.

Yeah, a locker does inherently need more power to overcome the understeer. And the turn2 sweeper is a pain for that. Maybe try a stocker Hilux LSD, you can normally pick them up around the place reasonably cheaply.

Takai, thats the problem either i get outbid by 5 bucks on Ebay at the last minute or the locals want around a thousand bucks. I've seen them for much cheaper but I can't find one. Secondly I have a rebuild kit here already so one in need of attention is what Im after. Typical pov racer???
Any recommendations on location and price.
PS I have rung alot of places just the expensive ones.
