Home, home on the net!! I was inspired by something SirNukes said in another topic to post asking where people 'live' on the internet! By this I mean: 1) What site do you spend the most time at? and 2) If you have your own computer, what site do you have set as the 'home page' on your browser? Eric |

Oh yeah, my turn.
I guess I really should go first...
1) I spend most of my time online nowadays at: www.herocentral.net which is a 'play-by-post' role-playing game site using the old 'paper-and-pen' system called 'Hero System' or 'Champions'! 2) I keep my home page set for 'www.backflip.com' because I use it for all my bookmarking so I am not locked into depending on my hardrive. Re: Oh yeah, my turn. How is the game? I've never tried a play-by-post type of game. For me, I just use google as a homepage. I have never really considered setting it to a normal site. -Brent |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn. I have tried other play by post and didn't like them. This site was built by a guy specifically for this purpose, and the custom features (mostly having to do with being able to limit visibility to some of the players for different storylines) make it more enjoyable for me. Of course, I had played the particular paper and pen system that it is based on before, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with why I like it. The pace is generally pretty leisurely. Like a post per day per campaign. So of course I joined about 10 campaigns! LOL! I used to use google as my home page of my browser, but then google packaged up a nice search feature that sits on my toolbar and blocks pop ups too, so now I just keep it up there.... Hey, SirNukes! So where do you spend the most time online? Which site? Eric |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn. You know, I was always partial to the Rolemaster system. Ever play it? I only did once, but going over the rules and making characters provided me with many hours of fun. Good for the imagination. What is this google search package thing? It is hard to say where I spend the most time. It is spread around at different places. Webcomics, here, a d2 board (I just lurk), a Phantasy Star board (that I lurk as well), and that's about it. I occasionally check other places if I have a lot of time, but I really am just a vagrant. I like email, but no one emails me anymore. Oh well. -Brent |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn. I loved Rolemaster! They got the rights to Tolkien's books ages ago and put out a watered down Rolemaster system for the Lord of the Rings settings. I played that for a while too. As to the google thing, it was an option on the homepage, "make google a toolbar" or something like that.... Eric |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn. It took a little searching, but I found the google toolbar thing. It was hidden. MERP rocks. I actually dealt much more with MERP than with full Rolemaster. Too bad Iron Crown lost the rights. I think I heard something about some shallow, d&dish Tolkien rpg being made a while back (by Decipher, maybe), but I haven't followed it. I am not a fan of the fashionized lotr going around, like the new card game and the movies. Did you ever look at the old card game? The art was great. -Brent |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn. Never saw the card game. Never really learned much about any of the card games. From 'magic' on down. I guess the traditional LoTR art will be all different now that a generation will have grown up influenced by the movies... Eric |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn. Yes, the old artwork is getting replaced. I am not fond of the way the movie images are flooding the market. There's something about artwork that has more freedom and imagination to it (the main reason I like anime). -Brent |

Re: Oh yeah, my turn.
Well, not all the old stuff will be super-imposed upon. Since the director went out of his way to create at least some scenes exactly the way they were in some well known LoTR art!
The gollum capture, and the fellowship confronting the white wizard in the Fangorn, for two. Eric |

New favorite! I got a new favorite site! Got to get my sci-fi fix! www.baen.com/library/ This is great! I really like a number of these authors and am glad to share their books for free online and with the express permission of the authors and their publisher! Eric |
