Hello! Today I went for the first time to our local fabric store. Turns out it is only upolstery, but the women were fun to talk to. I am praying that one of the ladies will find a sewing circle for me. They had these premade heat packs that are really 2'x2' squares of fabric with 9oz. of corn inside, and a handle on either end. Then you warm the pack in the microwaves for 2:30 min, and wallah! a heatpack. I bought enough to make 5! I have already sewn the ends together in 2 hours. Tomorrow I will make the handles and add the corn. What other homemade gifts do y'all make for your family and friends? Your Sister in Christ, Avery - HappywithLee |

This year I made tree skirts for my family (mom/2 sisters). I was able to find some beautiful matching material and started sewing away. I made one for Mom, so she can use it know for our tree. And one for each my sisters for their hopechests. I also made one for my hopechest. I had a pattern that I followed that called for 12 matching fabrics (Christmas colors or any matching material). I then cut the matching peices together to make a lovely tree skirt. Very inexpensive and easy to make. I hope they like them

Aja, I'm impressed! Where did you find the pattern? What a thoughtful gift. That's one of those things you almost always wind up going out and either spending too much money on or getting one you don't really like because normally no one thinks of giving you one. That was great! In Him, Wanda |

Wanda, Actually, my aunt sent me the pattern for it. She used it quite a bit, so it's starting to show some wear and tear Aja Nicole~~ There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. Elbert Einstein |

I'd like to know how/where you got the pattern too. Or even just how to make one. It would be so nice to have a homemade one. I also like your idea of putting one in your hope chest! Danielle Elizabeth Daughter to John and Jacqueline Big Sister to: Mark(12) Samantha(8 ) Lisa(6) Ruth(4) & Ja |

Here is a picture of the kind of tree skirt I made (Dresden Design). This is not the one I made....but the pattern is the exact same. I used a combination of material that had dark reds in it....sooo pretty for Christmas. And then I outlined the whole thing with a gold fringe. It doesn't take hardly any time to make and is very pretty. I'm not sure, but you might be able to find the pattern at Walmart in the craft section of the sewing books. www.phyllistitch.com/tree_skirt_set.htm (It's the first picture that looks like the one I made) Enjoy~~
