How's your life been lately?
Hi Ladies,

It's been kind of quiet here at Reminisce, so I thought I'd check in with you all! :) I hope everyone has been enjoying a beautiful fall so far!

:car Life has been busy around here! I believe things are slowing down a tad though. The garden is almost done now. :farm We went to an orchard in Illinois over the weekend to get a bushel of apples to can. Mmmm! We hope to make pie filling, apple dumplings, and all kinds of treats. ;) :chef The apples are huge and oh, so delicious! I just received my zither in the mail over the weekend too! I absolutely love playing it! It's soooo much fun! :)

:pc Please jump in and update us on how your life is going? Looking forward to hearing from you...

Blessings!

Re: How's your life been lately?
Hi,
It's funny. At first I thought that there was something wrong with my computer, because every time I got on here (which wasn't very often) there were hardly any new posts!
Then I got to thinking, and decided that everyone must just be as busy as I am! lol
After my older sister left for collage things really got busy! She was the only one of us kids at home that could drive, so now thing are complicated. Thankfully Grammy lives right next door. She is called upon quite often now.
When we find the time we are going to go pick up some apples to make apple sauce with. We can applesauce every year. We have to make quite a lot for our family, but I really enjoy it.
It has just started to get a little bit chilly here. I just love this time of year! To me it seems that fall has a certain smell to it, and it's not fall until I can smell that smell. I think it's the smell of the crushed leaves, the smoke from burn piles, the crisp air, and a couple of other things all mixed together that make my "fall smell". There is nothing else that smells like it.
Well, I hope everyone else is having a wonderful fall.
May God's blessing, as well as the leaves, fall upon each one of you abundantly this season.
With love,
~*~Shannon~*~

Re: How's your life been lately?
Hello All!

Well, I’ve been pretty busy along with the rest of you! I DO really intend to post some pictures from our trips to Colorado and Vermont. LOL. It’s just hard to get to everything!
We had a great time though – we saw and experienced a lot of things I doubt we’ll ever get to do again. The Lord definitely blessed us with a wonderful opportunity! Vermont was absolutely beautiful, and just like I’d imagined it would be. Everything is so scenic, since most of the state is still rural. Here's a little peek for you.

One of the stops we made on the way home was…the Statue of Liberty!!!!! I was so excited to see it at long last! We rode the ferry out to it and walked around. You’ll think this is funny, but as I was standing there looking up at it, I was trying to think of some profound thought I would always remember about being there…lol! However, I never did get much inspiration!

Now I’m trying to get back into the groove at home; starting school etc. The weather has definitely turned fall here. Actually, it’s a bit unusual for it to suddenly be so cold like this, as we often still have warm days in October. I hope that we’ll get the chance to go apple picking. That’s always a fun thing to do. I also love going through the giant corn maze the orchard has every year.

I’m also considering getting another pet, since my hamster Chester, passed away a month ago. It’s a toss-up between a parakeet or another hamster. I’ve got to do more research on parakeets yet, but there are nice things about each animal. Of course, in some ways it’s easier to get another hamster since I have everything for it already, but a bird sounds appealing in that it’s awake all day! ;-)

So that’s pretty much the latest news – to which I’ll have to add that I’ll be seventeen very shortly! This past year has just flown by, as it always seems to do.

May God bless you all abundantly this fall season!!!

Hugs,
Hannah

Hello, sisters! :)
You are right, Shannon; I for one probably have been as busy as you. :) I didn't think I could get any busier, until I did. :) I just LOVED the picture you posted! Fall colors are so wonderful.
I enjoyed hearing how you all are doing. That's so neat, Elizabeth, that you got a zither. I can't really remember much about them. What's it like? Mmmm....sounds like you are having fun with apples. I do love apples, and am really enjoying that aspect of working at a produce store. :) We are getting in big bins full of fresh, yummy apples -- not the kinds that are stickered and coated in wax. I've been particularly enjoying the Gingergolds and Jonagolds; they are crisp and sweet.
Hannah, what is the corn maze like? Let us know if you get to do it again! There is a very big one just a little ways from here, and tomorrow, hopefully, a friend and I will go through it. I've never been in one before; I'm looking forward to it. The picture you posted was really pretty.
As for myself, life has been interesting, challenging, and GOOD. :) Just trying to walk with Jesus. I took the summer off from my studies, and am just now getting back into that, even though I'm not any less busy than I was during the summer. :) And this last weekend my family and I went out camping/hunting. I really enjoyed it, and the weather was lovely.
Happy fall!
Love,
Atlanta

Hello!
Ditto everyone's comments about being busy! It seems one thing after another keeps happening and the time just flies by. :)
We dug our potatoes about two weeks ago and some carrots. Harvesting the potatoes and carrots come fall is something I always enjoy. The cool, crisp air is so nice to work in and it's about the only time the five of us in our family are down there together. :)
Now we are picking rocks off one of our fields so we can grow more hay next year. We will accomplish as much as possible before the the ground freezes. The next couple days we are supposed to get rain and snow so we might not be going much longer.
I started :fiddle and piano again so that has also been taking up my 'spare' time. I'm thankful for the opportunity to take lessons! :multi
Need to run get supper ready.
Until next time,
~Lindsey

Re: How's your life been lately?
Hello!
Atlanta…we went through the corn maze on my birthday – about 3 weeks ago (wow, has time flown!). This year was the biggest maze ever, and Daddy, Christopher and I all agreed that it was the hardest ever, too! :x It was terrible.:eek We were in for about an hour, then had to leave and came back later for at least another hour.:( We finally just wanted to get out – forget the stamps we needed for our papers and LET US OUT!!!!:shout Even then, we were totally lost – the corn had grown up really high this year, so you couldn’t see a thing to get your bearings on which direction was out.:no Somehow (and don’t ask me how, because I don’t know!) we found ALL of the stamps and THE EXIT!!!!!!!!
:jump) :jump) :jump)
I don’t know if we’re going to do that again next year or not. LOL:lol

Oh, and yes, of course we got some apples…around 40 pounds on that trip.:dog
We also went back a week ago and got 40 more pounds…. and Mmmmm are they ever delicious!

Take care,
~Hannah :pc

Hello Hannah!
Well, I'm sorry the corn maze you went through wasn't too much fun.
I actually had a good time at the one we went to. It took us about an hour. I think it was about 7 acres, and the corn was really tall. But they gave us a map to use. :) That made all the difference. We tried just for fun to not use the map, but that really didn't work. I probably would have been considerably more lost in there, but my friend seemed to have a much better sense of direction. It was fun. :)
Bye!
Atlanta
