Re: ..lol
Is this ONLY when you launch a site from your favourites - I take it you can view these sites if you type them in ?

Re: *
So, these sites in your favourites, you can't access these even if you type them in the address bar ? umm...

The best thing to do then is re-install IE 6 - If you go
Start-Control Panel-Add remove Programs and select IE6 - You will then have an option to repair - choose this and let us know how you get on.

Re: *
Javascript is needed to be able to use pop-up windows, maybe you have put it off.
Just an idea.

i am having this EXACT same problem. I read the article but it made little sense. Is there anything I can do besides wait for microsoft to get off their duff and fix it? I enabled all the java and scripting things, and still nothing. Is there anything else I can do? They say something about a hotfix but never explain it any more than to say that there is one. Someone please help!

This is interesting. Are they only Java applets that don't load I wonder? Do you have Ad-aware software? I'm not certain that this was the cause, but as soon as I loaded it and ran a spyware removal procedure with Ad-aware then Java applets froze in IE6. (It is a highly recommended program!) You might be interested in the thread at

www.lavasoft.nu/cgi-bin/f...;f=18;t=60

and in the "Windows General" forum too at Lavasoft. (I am "bridgeplayer" there.

I have now reinstalled and repaired IE6 and MS VM, still no joy. But try Netscape with Sun Java 2. This might work for you. It does for me.

That link didn't all show. Try again

www.lavasoft.nu/cgi-bin/f...t=139;st=0

that's the link. If it doesn't work just go to Lavsoft main site and navigate to their support forums.

Boy, I have the exact same problem with IE. Clicking on a link that opens in a new window won't open at all, It seems to freeze up or something.:(

But, when I use Netscape, no such problems.

IE6 open new window and link click not working
Under Win XP Pro, I ran into this several times this week where when clicking on a link IE6 wouldn't open the link or when I right clicked on on a link to open in a new window nothing happened.

I tried all the suggested fixes including:

regsvr32 /i Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 /i Msjava.dll
regsvr32 /i Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 /i Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 /i Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 /i Browseui.dll
regsvr32 /i Shell32.dll

With 3 of them I got (sample):
oleaut32.dll was loaded, but the dllinstall point was not found?

What fixed it for me was sfc /purgecache !!:rollin

Re: IE6 open new window and link click not working
I'm very aggravated by a continuing problem with IE 6.0 popup windows not working (they pop up, but they're blank and just hang) and have tried every solution I could find without any of them working.

Since you've found something that actually works, please tell me step by step what you did. I need detailed instructions so that I don't delete or change anything that could cause other programs to fail or become inoperable.

Thanks!

Heidi
